Setting off the event with a battle!
*Kaito became aware slowly, similar to the process of 'waking up' but by his own intention rather than a need for sleep at all. There was just too much time in a day, and this 'sleep' seemed like a good way to pass it without being bored.
He'd settled outside last night, something inside him preferring the open space to the four walls of his assigned room, but he couldn't recall being surrounded by this much tall grass when he'd tuned out.
There came a scuffling to his right and he found himself on high alert, switching to a low crouch. Something was out there, approximately two meters away, digging at the dirt. It didn't sound very big, but he couldn't be sure.
He crept forward half on his knees, pushing the grass aside as quietly as he could. Which must not have been quiet enough, he realized, when the creature stopped moving suddenly. He froze, peering through the grass in an attempt to see it.
Instead of sating his wary curiosity, Kaito found himself blasted back by a stream of water that knocked him well on his ass. Swearing, he scrambled back, suddenly being borne down on by a blue....turtle. An angry blue turtle. It seems to be a very important distinction.
What the hell is going on?!*

The fish struggled onto the floor in front of them, and.... flopped ineffectively at the blue turtle thing.]
.......what the hell are you doing?! stupid frigging fish!
[he turned to the..... thing. He looked human, but didn't smell or sound like it, and sighed.] I have no clue what's going on here. Please tell me you have some idea.

Haven't the slightest. That...thing just attacked me for no reason!
*what does he have, what does he have? No guns, no knives, no rockets. Some pocket lint in his jeans, paperclips, a tiny ball red and white ball, a sharpie marker, a deck of cards that he acquired somewhere, and his blackberry*

Again, the fish flopped at the Turtle, without doing a damned thing.]
Well, it seems focused on the fish now. I say we go. I think I can cope with cutting my losses here.

Th' hell??
*double battles, aren't they a bitch?*

...You have got to be kidding me.
[The fish again, just flops. He turns to the guy.] Did you wake up with something useful, because this frigging thing needs a kick up the ass.

The steel (http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/3226/skarmory.png) bird hits the rat with a solid THWUMP and rolls it over, scraping it with claws and wings before taking back to the air and circling around.*
...I think that means I did.

and with that, said fish flops at the rat this time. He pinches the bridge of his nose.]
I get the feeling that this won't go faster if I shoot the frigging things. [He asn tried yet; he doesn't want to waste ammo.]

The thought of the author killed the emotion on his face and he just stared as the bird slashed at the rat with air, resulting in the creature keeling over and lying still*

[You might catch him not watching the battle so much at the minute, as trying to figure out just what you are as he looks out of the corner of his eye at you.]

Who are you? [The "what are you" didn't seem like a good opener.]
How the hell did this get lost in my inbox?!
Kaito Kuroba, magician. You?
*snugs*
