Sabaku no Temari | 09 | [In Person/Video]

[Sitting out by the lake, Temari is just staring blankly over the water, Gokudera's hoodie doing next to nothing for warmth considering the snow around her. Pulling her almost bare legs closer to her body, a bowl was sitting beside her, the contents not visible to the camera.

This didn't make any sense...

Jutsu's made sense...

Death made sense...

Fortunes...they were just a scam. Right?

But why were things coming up accurate...and more importantly...how was she able to read them? She'd never put much stock in fortune telling, it was just a way to make some quick money off of gullible fools. But that didn't explain how she knew how to read such a ridiculous scam.

Glancing down, she noticed the blackberry was on. Instead of turning it off, she picked it up and peered at the camera. She was lost, she relied so heavily on realistic things, this was more than a little confusing for the poor girl. What threw her off more than that though, she couldn't feel the wind like she usually could. It was always there, whispering to her...but now, it was deadly silent, as though ignoring her and abandoning her like everyone else in her life had.]

...What's happening to me?

[What was that? Someone who entirely ignores the point of why you're out there? Sure. Actually no, it's because of the clothing article. He, not worried by the cold, strides up, happy to stand there and stare, resident uncomfy maker at your service.]

Mhuua..

[Glancing back slowly, she regarded Wonderweiss with a blank stare. She remembered him...from the ship that they were on.]

...What do you want?

[She didn't mean it to be hostile, but she was feeling more than out of her element and...so very alone.]

[The bowl. Usually just such an unsuspicious thing, but now that he was looking for his abilities? He just had to stare.

If this was true, if she had it... He didn't know what he'd do. His smirk however is wide as he turns on the video-feed]

Are you having trouble with something?

[And the moment he saw the feed he grabbed the present he had for Temari from his closet, and after bundling himself up he went outside to her location... greeting her by hitting her in the head with the box, his usualy irritated scowl on his face.]

You're sittin' out in the friggin' snow and your brain froze, that's what.

[And he unceremoniously dropped the package into her lap and took a seat next to her.]

I was goin' to wait for the holiday to give this to you, but if you're goin' to be a dumbass sitting out in the snow like this, might as well give it to you now.

[Kenji has had a day or so to adjust. He hasn't adjusted. He feels deeply unsettled by all of this. It's so out of his comfort range that it disgusts him that his father's sakabato is the only object that he has in his possession that makes him feel at home. The irony of that makes him angry, but what the hell can be done about it? Seeing the girl by the lake, he isn't sure if he should leave her alone or not. He's not in the mood for idle conversation, but he thinks he might go mad if he sticks to himself the entire time. Readjusting the sword on his hip, he makes enough noise to give her advance warning of his presence as he approaches.]

[Looking back as soon as she felt a box hitting her head, she just stared up at Gokudera. She could hear him moving through the snow, she just didn't feel any urge to move.]

...Gokudera?

[Putting her hands on top of the box as soon as it touched her lap, she was more than a little confused. He got her a present? She knew this whole Christmas thing involved presents, but she wasn't expecting one.]

What is this?

...And, I'm not being a dumbass. [She had her reasons.]

[Scowling slightly as a familiar face appeared on her device, she thought about just turning it off.

He stole her friend, she didn't owe any answers to him, not at all. Least of all about her personal life.]

I don't think that's any of your business.

You asked what happened to you.

I humbly think I might have an answer.

[As much as he hated having it. But he wanted to be sure]

...

[Her hands tightened by her side. Dammit...She did want answers, she just hated that they'd be coming from him.]

Then speak quickly.

This week out lovely host seems to have made it about switching abilities.

[He opens his fan in front of his face]

If my assumption proves to be true, you got what's mine.

[Wonderful...so that meant that someone had her abilities. It certainly answered a few questions.

She had his though. Smirking suddenly, she felt a little better about this whole ordeal.]

I think that's fair, all things considered.

[The snow was a dead giveaway for anyone walking up to her. Glancing back, she makes no reaction to seeing such a new face. She was well used to new arrivals by now, the fact that someone was exploring outside was no surprise.

Who wouldn't scout the area if it wasn't what you were used to?

Looking back out to the lake, the sword doesn't even worry her. She could take him, no matter what weapon he has.]

[Fair? How was this fair? She got to know the future, know fate... That was his, his alone. He was special and even if she had it now, it was just an idiotic shadow of him when he had it]

I can't quite find myself agreeing, but I do hope you have an enjoyable time with my abilities.

[He huffed a little when she asked what it was. It was OBVIOUSLY a present... and something he... was very unused to giving to people. He hadn't celebrated Christmas since he ran away from home.

And now Temari just had to call him out on being a good person. Dammit all. Well he would respond in his usual sarcasm. Actions were supposed to speak louder than words, right?]

It's a box.

[And being from a rather nice hot climate himself he did not take well to the more extreme winter months. Winter was for rain to him. Not snow. Snow was something that he could tolerate for the Tenth for a little while. All the other times? Not so much.]

Are too. You know they made indoor heat for a reason. I thought someone from a desert would kinda... I dunno... have somethin' against snow?

[god knows he did.]

Can't you though? I thought you were supposed to be smart.

You stole what was mine, enjoying my friend...my family, it's only fair that I get something in return.

[What now? Ryuutaro huffed a bit, but then his smile returned]

So this is about Hayato? As far as I know though, I've been close to him before you.

[But not so close that she had to be scared of losing him.]

Only because you were here first. If you truly cared for him though, you'd let him go.

[This was ridiculous, more than only ridiculous even. Ryuutaro let out a strange high-pitched, chuckle]

Fate guided me to him first, would be the proper way of wording out.

And let him go? I'm afraid he doesn't want to leave and who would I be to deny him?

There's no such thing as fate. We make our own destinies, I suppose you're just too weak for that though.

[Scowling, she looked away for a moment, trying to get her own feelings under control.] ...You can say what you want...but if you truly cared about him, you would have been the one bleeding on the floor. Not him.

[She was still sore over that and it wasn't likely to go away any time soon.]

[That one. It hit. And it hit hard. Ryuutaro sharply inhales and for a moment he can't say a word.

Bleeding.

Dead.

He could not ever get rid of the images]

[Well excuse her, she wasn't used to getting presents, especially wrapped presents.]

I can see it's a box, I'm not stupid.

[Setting about opening the box, the gift never stood a chance. In a matter of moments, the box was open, and she was simply staring at the coat...he got this for her?

Setting the box aside, she was silent as she pulled the coat from the box, running the fabric through her hands. No one had given her anything quite like this before.]

I'm not out here for my health. I was just... I can't explain it properly, but I can't feel the air like I usually can. I was hoping that maybe if I stayed out her long enough...

I don't think you can judge how much I care for him in any way, your mind is clouded over by irrational jealousy, I'm afraid.

I don't get jealous. I'm simply stating facts.

Had he been with me, I would have done anything to ensure his safety. You let him die.

[He watched her look at the coat... he... couldn't quite read if she liked it or not. This was the first time he really ever gave someone a present... maybe he messed up? He addressed her problem but didn't take his eyes off her trying to figure out if she was happy about the gift or not.]

You too? I've been hearin' that a lot. I haven't found out what I forgot yet... I know it ain't dynamite. [Though the way he had nearly blown himself up earlier you wouldn't have known it.] If I find out who's got your ability I'll let you know... it's only a week after all.

[and then... he couldn't really hold his question in any longer.]

I-if you don't like it... I can get you a different one. I'm not sure what they wear where you're from... so I just got what looked warmest...

[and not stupid.]

[And Ryuutaro actually looks off to the side. Consider this a victory, Temari.]

I'm not a fighter in the way he is. The only thing I could have done was d-die myself, alongside him... which would have made it so much harder for him to recover now.

[His voice shook slightly as he was saying this. How he wished he could've done more. Anything. Anything at all]
