23rd Blast || Mello & Matt || [In Person]

[Mello assumed L would be in the same place he'd left him over twenty four hours earlier. He hadn't yet told Matt what the situation was, he didn't want to have to explain it twice. So here they were walking briskly in the freezing Ukrainian evening to where a lone figure sits hunched over on the pavement. Mello is armed with a flashlight, but aside from that the only light is from the moon and the spray of stars.]

Ryuzaki, I've got news.

[And from his tone it's obvious it's not good news]

[L is dirty, and hungry, and cold. He's not in the mood for bad news.]

[Matt frowns a little at the sight of L. 'Oh how the mighty have fallen.' He's a little shocked, he does still think of him as someone to look up to. But he feels bad for the guy too.

It makes it a lot easier to keep the grin off his lips at the scenery. Now he can actually listen to what Mello has to say instead of, oh, thinking about survival horror games.]

[He snarls this, getting as close to L as he can get. He feels the same way as Matt only, he feels it more intensely. L is his hero and now he's lying here, now he's just this sad little thing. He barely even looks human at this point. His voice gets softer]

[L's shoulders tense at the name. Of course she is. There's only one thing that could possibly make this worse.]

Is Light Yagami here as well?

[At least Misa Amane is much less harmful when Light isn't around.]

[Yeah, even he can't think of her as 'that cute chick' right now. He glances to the side, silent and thinking. He doubts that...otherwise Mello would've said his name first. But that doesn't mean they're out of the woods just yet.]

He's not here. Just her. Yagami's still in college. I don't think she's been arrested yet. I got as much information from her as I could. She's pretty ignorant I think. She's not a good actress, I think she's telling the truth. I don't think she's got the Death Note either.

[But Mello doesn't look to sure. God-fucking-dammit, a Kira just had to show up! All he can say is at least it's not Yagami.]

[The city is six miles in radius. If Light was here... it's possible he could be anywhere. At least Misa doesn't have the Death Note.

L doesn't say anything for a few minutes. He's very very tired. He wants a shower and a bed. And some cake. Chocolate cake with mousse. Raspberry filling... and tea...

Keep an eye on her. Without Light Yagami to take cues from, she should be easier to deal with.

She saw me when she was screaming around for Yagami, I tried to duck out of sight but she got a look. I talked to her, played like I was a fan.

[he looks a little sick thinking about that.]

But I got all the information I could out of her. She's useless.

[Mello's trying not to think about what Misa got them in the real world. Trying not to think about how he dragged them to Japan to follow her, how they got tied up in Tekada's kidnapping, how Matt had died because of him. Mello keeps the flashlight down, trying to hide the lost look on his face]

And she didn't know me. I'll keep my eyes opened for Yagami.

[He's definitely not thinking straight. It's starting to worry him. Is it fatigue, hunger? Or something else? His hands shake slightly and he grasps his ankles.]
