24th Blast || Mello || [In Person]
[Bundled up Mello is making his way through the snow. To anyone looking out their window he appears as just a black dot making its way through the blizzard. (Mello's entire winter wonderland wardrobe is as black as everything else he wears.) If you happen to be crazy and are actually outside you may hear Mello's voice above the wind.]
MAAAAAAaaaaaaaaAAAAAATT!! MATT!! WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU?!
[Mello lets out a muttered "fuck" under his breath, more of a breath of air than anything else.]

How did Kira obtain this Death Note?
no subject
A shinigami dropped it to see what would happen if a human found it.
[Probably the same way you got your eyes B]
no subject
How did you know that the Death Note was a Shinigami's? Did Sidoh tell you? Was he helping you?
no subject
[Mello holds his head as far away from B as he can but it's starting to hurt his neck]
He was afraid of me.
[Sidoh couldn't have made -that- fact any more obvious]
no subject
Kira was killing with a Death Note given to him by a Shinigami. And yet the detective on the case was using a Shinigami as well. Was the Death Note that you were in possession of the murder weapon, or was it a different Death Note?
no subject
A different one. There were three Death Notes on Earth by the end of it.
[He gives another halfhearted squirm]
no subject
Your Death Note, Kira's Death Note, and... did Nate River perhaps have one? I can hardly imagine him letting you take on this case while he sat idle...
no subject
Could that be...?
Was Nate River...?
Near.
Mello's eyes bulged hearing Near's real name for the first time. He knew Near's name, as a Wammy Kid his deepest secret. He knew Near's name, Near didn't know his. In one way he was better than Near. He knew one thing Near did not. His heart was pounding in his chest, louder now than the wind and B's voice in his ear. B would feel him go limp in his grip.
He knew Near's name. He had power over Near.]

Yes, Mihael Keehl, that is N's name. Obviously from your reaction, you are still working against each other, and he is still superior to you. But I must know, did you work together on this case with Kira?
no subject
He is not better than me! He's a fucking twit!
[He struggles harder]
I would never work with that goddamn fool!
no subject
That does not answer my question. Was he working on the case, or was he not?
no subject
What do you think, B?
no subject
no subject
[He doesn't answer the rest with anything but a growl. He doesn't like admitting his loss out loud because he lost, well, everything. He's actually HOPING that five minute timer is in the real world because at least then it'll be over and he won't have to spend the next fifty years tailing Near trying desperately to beat him. He could never give up, he would follow N until the day he finally ground into dust. The only escape was death.]
no subject
Knowing what I do of your personality, I can quite safely assume that Nate River must have beaten you. That leads me to another important question: what was the detective on the case doing, using the killer's murder weapon? Or were you not strictly a detective after all?
no subject
Knowing what I know about your personality, I think you might want to hear this.
[His eyes dart to B's face]
You aren't special.
no subject
You can't scare me that way, Mihael Keehl. You are only lying to buy yourself time. I know now that you were not strictly a detective, working perhaps off the record. Had Nate River beaten you so badly that Roger would not even give you the case?
no subject
[He looks for B's reaction.]
no subject
That is a lie.
no subject
[Mello watches to see what B does from here]
no subject
Who made the deal?
no subject
A lot of people.
[He knows better than to move in B's grip]
One of my cronies, a cop, and one of the murderers in the Kira case.
no subject
"Cronies," you call them. Just what were you doing, M, instead of acting as a detective trained to be L?
no subject
That's none of your business, B.
[He rubs his cheek against his padded shoulder]
One of them is here, B. Someone with your eyes.
no subject
Who this person?
