01 - Gustave - [video]
(a child is heard screaming, first just screams, then terrified shouts)
Mother! Mother please, I'm scared! Where are you?
(suddenly the screaming and shouting stops, the video comes on to show a young boy in a wooden bed, if you look closely you'll see it's in the shape of a peacock, with the detailed wings curved around to make the sides, the head bowed at the front, and the beautiful fan of tail feathers to make the headboard. The boy is wearing an early 20th century nightgown and looks very upset. He gazes around the room in silence, biting his lip before beginning to murmur to himself.)
... Where am I?... What is this place?
(Eventually he gets out of the bed and wanders around the room, running his hand over the patterned woodwork of he bed. He goes to the mahogany wardrobe and looks inside.)
... most peculiar...
(then an arctic fox appears at his feet and nuzzles his leg gently with her head)
Are you alright, Gustave?
(the boy jumps back in fright, his eyes wide and his mouth open)
W... where did you come from?... You... you can talk?!
Ssh, it's just me silly. You know you don't have to be frightened of me.
(the fox turns into a sparrow and perches on the wood of the bed. The feed then cuts out)
