28th Blast || Mello || [Accidental Video/Voice]
[Mello is in his and Matt's room. His hair is pulled back into a high messy ponytail. Mello's sleeves are rolled up (yes, he's wearing a long sleeved black t-shirt, he's cleaning the room and will not ruin his leather doing so.) He has been vacuuming the small room incessantly, tired of all the dog and cat hair from the previous week. It is not a difficult task, but Mello looks far from calm not to mention the fact he's been doing it for several hours. He hasn't spoken to his ghost yet even though he's locked himself in a room with him. Nor has he spoken much to L or even Matt. Now that night has fallen and the Blackberry has turned itself on, however, the other Wammy Boys will recognize the spirit watching Mello. Their keeper and in many ways creator, Quillish Wammy. L's handler and collector of genius orphans. And one of the people Mello hated most in the world.
Mello is continuing to ignore the ghost although Wammy's lips are moving marking slow easy, although unheard, speech. Mello turns off the vacuum and begins to wipe down the desk. It's not that Mello enjoys cleaning, it's just that he feels to sick and nervous to stop, to show understanding, to even try to leave the room]

no subject
Mihael Keehl.
[In Person]
What the fuck do you want?!
[He's actually happy to talk, distract from Wammy. The ghost has stepped back, but regards B with no more interest than he does anything else in the room. It's the same aloof stare he probably grew very used to in his time at Wammy's House]
Re: [In Person]
Mihael Keehl. I want... to kill A.
[At that moment, another ghostly figure floats out from the vent. It is a teenage boy with a thin figure and lank, dull hair. He looks exhausted and sickly, and his eyes are vaguely dulled. As he lifts up his hands to brush the hair out of his eyes, two long, deep, and surgically exact slices are revealed on the undersides of his forearms, wrist to elbow.]
[In Person]
He's already taken care of that.
Re: [In Person]
I want him to leave me alone.
[In Person]
Re: [In Person]
He is trying to talk to me. I will not let him, because he is not real. Ghosts do not exist outside of this story and others like it.
[In Person]
He's real here.
Re: [In Person]
I am going to kill him again. You said that one of the murderers in the Kira case is here. Does he have the Shinigamis' weapon?
[In Person]
[Eyebrow arch]
I thought you were a detective.
Re: [In Person]
I am a detective! I am the best detective. I am better than L and better than A and better than you. And I will drive A away.
[In Person]
Then you don't need my help, do you?
Re: [In Person]
I am better than you.

Re: [In Person]
I will kill Mr. Wammy, as well.
[In Person]
[And Mello might just mean it]
Re: [In Person]

Too bad ghosts don't have balls.
[Because he would totally kick Mello's ghost in said spot.]
In Person
He has spent all day ignoring Wammy. Because Mello already knew what he was going to say. He was a failure, but not in those words. It was carefully worded and stung like a whip crack. Mello alone could never be L. Mello was not good enough. M could never succeed L. Without Near he was nothing. Without Near he was a liability. He was too hot headed. He was too emotional. He cared too much. L had to be calm. L had to be collected. L had to be aloof.
In order to become L, Mello had to give up everything and everything that made him unique. Even then he'd never be more than Near's errand boy, talking to people because the twit could not.
Despite everything it had put him through, Mello preferred his way.
Most infuriating though was that Wammy was telling him this "for his own good."
Mello has vacuumed literally every inch of the room, destroying any evidence animals had ever stepped foot there and any opportunity for fleas to reproduce. He slams the vacuum down, practically throwing it into the closet. It isn't their vacuum cleaner, but he was not walking past Wammy to bring it outside (where, all things considered, he'd probably just leave it in the hall. Someone would find it and put it away.)]
They do, they're just not kick-able.
[Mello turns to look at Matt on the bed, trying to ignore the ghostly woman standing over his partner.]
[Wammy gives Mello a look that shows he does not approve of Mello's comment but is in no way surprised.]
In Person
[He focuses on his game again, which in and of itself isn't unusual.
It's just that he seems to be holding it a little tighter than normal.
The female ghost moves, passing between them with a grace that's not of this world, a movement that's far more like floating than walking. She stops at the head of the bed, sits down, reaches for Matt...
Mello has probably never seen Matt move that fast. But he's suddenly on his feet.]
Fuck it. Can't even go for a walk and get away from it.
[But the fact that he'd be willing to walk to escape it says a lot.]
In Person
I know.
[And Mello holds him tighter]
Fuck 'em.
In Person
There's a strength that comes from sliding their arms around one another. There's a power in.
But for the first time, Matt flinches. His body tenses, like he wants to pull away.]
Sorry.
[He takes a breath and reaches his hand up, sliding his fingers through Mello's hair.]
Seeing her brings back the old instincts.
[Cutting himself off from everyone and everything. Ignoring the world.]
In Person
Matt...
[Mello doesn't know what to do or what to say. When Matt looks up at him Mello slowly, so slowly, Mello reaches out and gently, so much more gently than usual, he touches Matt's face, brushing his bare fingers along Matt's cheek]
Don't let her fuck with you. Nothing's wrong. Nothing's happening. I won't let anything happen to you. I promise.
In Person
Way to make me feel like a chick.
[There's teasing in his voice though and he quickly follows it with a kiss.
There's a slight reaction from his mother's ghost.]
You're not a failure either. And you don't need anyone else. I know what that old fuck's saying.
[Matt grins.]
Yeah, okay. You need me.
In Person
Yeah, I do.
[Most people would not believe Mello would say that, that he needed anyone. Nor would they think he could laugh so kindly, so softly. And Mello was happy that way. Only Matt knew about Mello's soft side, and he was the only one who ever saw it.]
