{Seventh Case} Experimentation [Action]

[Ichabod has been managing his Hunger the best way he knows how and that's by taking only enough to keep the thoughts of carnage aside. He was always a man of moderation. Anything from raw meat to small animals kept him from attacking Elizabeth.

His eyes looked over the list that was written on the wall and a wave of shock hit him that Elizabeth was taking the blame for the killing of Isabella. A sense of urgency came to him as he walked briskly through the halls to look for her.]

I'm glad to hear it

[She takes a small step towards him, having to stop herself again. She wants to be with him - she's missed being with him]

I'm sure it won't last more than a week..

[Ichabod's mind returned to the list that was written on the wall. He debated how to bring this up but now seemed the best time now since he was able to see her.]

I am concerned over a matter that requires the judicial attention of your peers. Are you certain you should take all the blame? I am heartsick to think that you would take the burden onto yourself. Why have you not told me this before?

[Ah, so he had seen it as well. The writing on the wall]

I didn't tell you because I knew you would try and talk me out of it or change my mind. I know what I'm doing, and all I ask of you in return is that you support my version of events at my trial.

[With his head lowered, he nods. He understands her altruism but what shocked him was the effort she made not to tell him. Avoidance was starting to creep into his mind and he didn't like that feeling either. He didn't fully understand the upbringing of a true monarch but he can only speculate that the marks on her wrist could spark a sort of vengeful awakening in himself that he didn't want to embrace.]

You are asking me to remain silent when the truth has been gagged and bound by this mockery of justice. These are not our peers. They know not the world from whence you came and they may judge you unfairly. Mello has certainly proven that, has he not?

[Her expression falls at the mention of Mellos name. He thought too highly of himself, and in turn she didn't think highly of him. She had also anticipated how Ichabod would react to her taking all of the punishment herself - but her mind would not be changed]

I know that, and, while I see this 'justice system' as flawed and incomplete, I can also see it's clearly needed. After seeing how many other names were up on that wall, it's better that there's some form of deterrant to such violence.

[Her face softens along with her tone]

I know you don't like it, and I'm truly sorry for that

Yes. I understand.

[He sees her softening expression. The sense and reason that he's been working hard to maintain during these dark times have fallen apart at the seams once in a while. He needed to make sure that she had his support and he reaches out to take her hands.]

Please, remember that I will do anything within my power to aid you in any way I can. You are very brave to handle this uncertainty.

[It felt good to touch him again, albeit only his hands. Though he felt cold..this truly was a horrible plot, one that Elizabeth s sure they'd both be glad to see the end of]

I thank you - and listen, this will all be over soon.

[The warmth of her hands with his was an inviting change from the bitter cold his body only offered which tore him up inside that he couldn't do more. His now nearly white complexion and elongated fangs were a stark contrast to the warmth of his eyes that she could see clearly.]

Ask of me anything and I will do what is within my power to give.

[Despite the risk, Elizabeth trusted him enough not to bite her again as she stepped forward a little, and gave him a light kiss]

I appreciate this, I really do - after this is over I'll be indebted to you for it

[Giving his hands a last squeeze, she then breaks away from him (albeit hesitantly) and dips another curtsey]

But, until this particular plot is over, I believe it would be best if we didn't see each other, as much as it pains me to even suggest it

[As much as it pained him to hear it, he couldn't deny the logic. He dips into a bow with his hand over his waist and smiles.]

I shall do as requested.

[He entered his room and closed the door softly behind him. He decided to sleep for the duration of this plot.]
