Cup 010: Iroh [Video]
[The shot is of Iroh, looking completely relaxed, in some small and cozy-looking cafe. The seats are wood and red cushions, the walls wood paneling with paintings hanging from them. Iroh has a veritable buffet of food before him: pastries and croissants, pies both fruit and meat, cups of soup, breads, one platter of cheese and another of meat. Right in front of him is a silver coffee pot and a cup of steaming coffee, next to another cup full of tea. A wine bottle in the corner of the table finishes the display.]
You know, people here have said that this city...Paris...has the finest food in the world. I'm inclined to agree.
[He inhales deeply, clearly pleased with his great spread of food.]
What is it they say here? Bone apeteet?
[He smiles and nibbles a wedge of cheese.]
I'm willing to share, if anyone else is hungry.

Ah, but the pleasures in life is just as good when the company and the food has something worth discussing, eh? It's a worry less on my head now that I know what to really look forward to.
Re: [In Person]
[He samples the pastry in his hand, and makes an appreciative noise.]
But I wouldn't say no to this food, as well.
[He lifts his little coffee cup and holds it towards Jack.]
To good food, better company, and happiness!
[In Person]
To splendors, adventure and fortunes.
[He taps his glass to the coffee mug and takes a sip of the wine after the toast.]
The last I have been here, there were more guards. Capitan Chevelle used to invite my father to his abode not far from the docks in Capris. I was a lad the last I came to this city....which has grown....tremendously. It's not in a bad way. Just more of it.
Re: [In Person]
Times change and things grow. That is the way of the world.
Tell me, what was it like when you last visited here?
[In Person]
Dirty. There was a lot of fighting, a lot of people were going hungry and there were plenty of riots in the streets to be sure. Many suffered and resorted to piracy since it was the only way left to gain any fortune. Sadly....this lead to a lot of executions.
[Jack didn't want to talk anymore about it and smiled.]
It seems that the time has won and the favor returned to France. The food certainly improved.
Re: [In Person]
Then all is well. [Iroh takes another sip of his coffee.] And what is a place if it does not have decent fare? [He chuckles.]
[In Person]
[He gives a slight bow to his head and chuckles.]
'Tis be a grim and dismal world without something to look forward to at the end, middle or beginning of the day. Methinks that this little trip is going to be something worth being noteworthy.
Something tells me I should write a book of my journeys.
[And still he thinks he's in the Locker.]
Re: [In Person]
[In Person]
[He looks down at the floor and stomps on it, finding it completely solid and real enough but the analogy mad his mind wander into the weird.]
What if what you say is true that we're being written as we speak, how is it that a pastry tastes like a pastry and wine is wine with the cheese as it being the cheese?
[As if looking for that invisible pen now, his eyes move up to the ceiling and is locked on a point, waiting for that pen to come down.]
That's one big book.
Re: [In Person]
I do not know. [He tugs at his beard in thought, his eyes moving up to the ceiling where Jack is looking.]
If we are being written in a story, and there is food in that story, and the story says we can taste it, then I suppose we can taste it now. [He shakes his head.] I really do not know. Curious indeed.
[He nibbles the end of a piece of cheese thoughtfully.]
[In Person]
Maybe we shouldn't have to think about it. It's like....God. It's everywhere. Get used to it, eh?
[He gives a nervous laugh and breaks a piece from his pastry.]
Re: [In Person]
That is what I have been attempting to do since I've arrived here. There's no sense in fighting what cannot be fought. For once, though, I am pleased with the turn of events.
[In Person]
Hm, see we have an invisible pen that writes on walls controlled by someone that we cannot see but what if we did our own writing? What if we wrote our own actions down? It's worth a try.
Re: [In Person]
[Iroh muses over this as he pours himself a glass of wine.]
It might be worth a try. Something small at first, just to see if it'll work. If we can get away with it.
Have you told anyone else about this yet?
[In Person]
[He leans forward with a grin]
Keep it between our onesies and if it works, we have something to use, eh?
Re: [In Person]
As you say. [He winks.]
[In Person]
Good cheese.
Re: [In Person]
[He also may or may not be lactose intolerant.]
But I think I'll miss this sorely when we leave.
[In Person]
Re: [In Person]
[He takes a napkin from his lap and begins to wrap up the cheese on the platter.]
This won't be enough.
[He calls out to the back of the cafe.] Waiter! Waiter, more cheese please!
[In Person]
Bring the wheels!! Oh and don't forget the wine.
Re: [In Person]
Yes! More wine, please!
[He sees what you're doing thar, Jack.]
Is that really necessary?
[In Person]
Only if I wanna take it back with me.
Re: [In Person]
[In Person]
[He puts it back and lifts his chin slightly.]
Would be a problem for the table should it get cold, eh?
[He never really understood the purpose for them anyway. The table still gets wiped down even after the meal and the cloth removed so what was the point in them other than for decoration for those that liked fancy things.]
