Cup 010: Iroh [Video]

[The shot is of Iroh, looking completely relaxed, in some small and cozy-looking cafe.  The seats are wood and red cushions, the walls wood paneling with paintings hanging from them.  Iroh has a veritable buffet of food before him: pastries and croissants, pies both fruit and meat, cups of soup, breads, one platter of cheese and another of meat.  Right in front of him is a silver coffee pot and a cup of steaming coffee, next to another cup full of tea.  A wine bottle in the corner of the table finishes the display.]

You know, people here have said that this city...Paris...has the finest food in the world.  I'm inclined to agree.

[He inhales deeply, clearly pleased with his great spread of food.]

What is it they say here?  Bone apeteet?

[He smiles and nibbles a wedge of cheese.]

I'm willing to share, if anyone else is hungry.

[So, he walks over, grabs a plate takes a couple pastries, a bowl of soup and some cheese.] The name's Kuroba Kaito by the way.

And I am Iroh. [He inclines his head in a shallow bow. He'd bow properly, but he's sitting down and it doesn't look like he'll be standing anytime soon.]

[And he takes a bite out of a pastry.]

So, tell me where you are from, Kaito. I don't think I've seen much of you around the manor.

[Of course looks can be deceiving, but Kaito is at least more normal than a lot of other people here, relatively speaking.]

I'm from Ekoda, and I only arrived here a few weeks ago. [He finishes off the pastry pretty quickly and takes a bite of his soup. This really is all pretty good!]

I've been here for far longer. Months. Almost two seasons now. [Has it really been that long?]

I come from the Fire Nation, though I'm sure you've never heard of it.

[Kaito pauses in eating his soup, frowning slightly.] That's a long time to be stuck here. [Jeez, he hopes he's not gonna be stuck here that long. He can't really afford to be stuck here.]

And no, I don't think I've heard of any Fire Nation before. What's it like?

It is very warm there. It's once a place I gladly called home. Now, I am not so sure.

My home has been engaged in war for almost a hundred years. At first I supported it, but recently...I am not sure that I care for my country's lofty goals.
