Spell 011 [Video]

[Soubi vaguely remembers having been in Paris. Once, when he was young, and then only for a few hours before being driven out to a Fighting school in the country. It is a fuzzy memory at best, and he realizes now that it hadn't captured the sheer scope of the place. Soubi is not one to be easily impressed, but even he has to admit that Paris is a beautiful place. He's not even interested in painting architecture or anything urban, but he finds himself easily able to understand why so many artists flock to this city.

But that isn't the point. There's no time for admiring the scenery; he has to find Ritsuka. So when the video turns on, his face is serious.]

Ritsuka, where are you? Call to me, and I'll come find you.

[Day one and Kio's already got some shopping done. "Some" would be a rainbow of bags from various shops around the city and he looks over his bounty proudly. Then he catches sight of Soubi and his grin gets even wider. He stops and calls out to his friend from underneath his candy colored umbrella]

Sou-chan!! What are you doing?!

[He looks around and stares at Kio.]

Have you raided every store in Paris, Kio?

[Soubi runs up to him]

Not yet! But Kio-chan figures he has at least a week to do that~!

[Without being asked, Soubi takes some of the heaviest-looking bags from Kio and holds them himself.]

How do you expect to get all of these back to the main house?

[Kio shrugs. He hadn't thought about that before]

I guess I'll find out when we leave.

[He shakes his head, smiling.]

These look like expensive shops.

[He's noting one bag which, under the label, clearly says that the shop's address is on the Champs Elysees.]

Mm! But Author-chan gave Kio-chan a credit card!

[He flashes it happily]

[With a bemused expression, Soubi mimics Kio and reaches into his own coat pocket. He pulls out a matching credit card. He looks between the two cards.]

How much money is on this?

[Kio shrugs, obviously that's not the important part, Soubi]

You don't want to be in debt, Kio. The Author might make you model for her.

Hee~! That might be fun! And I'd get to meet Author-san.

Maybe she'd torture you while you modeled. That sounds like something she might do. In order to coax you into the right positions.

You really think she'd do that? That's terrible!

[It's sometime before he finally sees Soubi's video. He of course gets to it right away since he knows how his fighter worries. The video comes on and Ritsuka looks content with his surroundings. Even though they're in another country, Soubi may recognize the interior just behind him. A giant yellow "M" and a cardboard cut out of a familiar red clown is just behind his chair. The container for a big mac litters the table as his tribble nibbles on a fry. He takes a sip of his soda before finally speaking into the camera.]

Hello Soubi. I'm just having some lunch, no need to worry. Have you been enjoying the sights?

[Ugh. Leave the boy alone for one moment and he's back to eating food like that. He has to figure out a way to get Ritsuka off that stuff. But it's good, very good to see Ritsuka so happy. Maybe this will be a good week for him.]

Yes, I have. It's a lovely city. May I join you?

[The preteen looks like he's in a fairly good mood. He had familiar food, he wasn't turned into some creature, being followed by some kind of monster of surrounded by fuzzy creatures. He was actually enjoying this event. He finally had the chance to see some of the places he thought he'd only get to read about. It was exciting, but Ritsuka was doing his best to keep a calm front.]

Sure you can. Do you want me to order something for you?

[He smiles and shakes his head, vaguely sensing Ritsuka's excitement and suddenly very happy.]

No, I don't like that sort of food. Maybe I can convince you to eat something French, hm?

French food...? Maybe... What do the french eat?

[Before Soubi can answer something seems to suddenly dawn on Ritsuka.]

CAMERA! [The tribble ducks into the empty fry carton when Ritsuka's revelation startles it.]

S-Soubi, I need a camera! See if you can find a place that sells disposable ones on your way, okay?

[Soubi raises an eyebrow at the sudden yell from Ritsuka, but then he smiles. Of course; his poor master hadn't been able to bring his beloved camera with him. He knows very well what having a camera means to Rituska. He nods.]

Of course, Ritsuka. I'll be there with a camera in a few minutes.

Alright, see you soon, Soubi.

[The feed cuts off.]

[Sure enough, not five minutes later Soubi appears, with a plastic bag in his hands. In the bag are three cameras: he figures that Ritsuka will want to take more than just twenty-two pictures in Paris, and after all, he hadn't specified how many cameras Soubi should buy for him. He breezes in the doorway and approaches Ritsuka with a smile.]

French cuisine includes lots of desserts, Ritsuka. When you feel hungry again after you've eaten here, we can find you some real French food.

[And in that five minutes, it looks like Ritsuka had ordered himself and his tribble some more food. The tribble was sitting contently in a bowl of salad and nibbling on a tomato while Ritsuka was sipping a McFlurry... Well at least one of them was eating healthy.

He spots Soubi and waves at him, then he spots the cameras.]

Wow, so many... [He looks pleased though. He hadn't thought about how little disposable cameras could hold, it was nice that Soubi thought ahead.]

I guess desserts can't hurt. What kind of foods do they have? I heard they eat frog legs and snails here... [He crinkles his nose a bit.]

[He laughs as he hands the bag to Ritsuka.]

Yes, they do eat snails, and frog legs. But they also eat beef, like you. And fish.

[He gently hugs Ritsuka once, ruffling his hair affectionately, almost like a parent. Then his eyes wander to the McFlurry.]

What are you eating?

[Ritsuka looked into the bag and took out one of the camera, already starting to whined it up.]

Those sound good then, but I'm full no-

[A soft surprised sound slips out of him when he's ruffled. The fuzzy ears twitching against his Fighter's palm. The display of affection felt more brotherly to him than parental, since affection from a parent was usually followed by pain. It made him feel slightly nostalgic...]

Neh...? [He looked down to the treat.]

It's ice cream. Well more like a milk shake since it melted a little. It's good! [He takes another sip and his tail gives a pleased swish.]

[He stands frozen for a few seconds, watching as Ritsuka drinks as if mesmerized. Those dry, red lips tugging at the straw, the look of pleasure on the child's face as he sucks it in, the happy, still hesitant swish of his tail...

Soubi shakes his head to clear it.]

That looks lovely, but did you also eat some of that salad?
