[Open/In Person]

[This is not Thairos. For one thing, it's raining. She practically had to fight to get the normal storms to come to Thairos. For another, she woke up in what seems to be an inn that is far more opulent than even her famous teacher would stay at. Also, the lighting here is exceedingly odd.]

[There's very little chance she could have gotten kidnapped (and to what end, especially if she's unbound and has nobody watching her. So Tris is going to go out and see if she can't find the lay of this strange city. This starts with her keeping the rain off of her and walking out of the hotel. She is On A Mission To Explore This Place, and she is Not Happy about it.]

[Congrats, Paris, you now have one grumpy, confused, red-headed weather witch standing under what appears to be an invisible glass dome that sheds the rain, and she's stalking your streets like she's mad at you! Which she kind of is.]

[It's the god they need icons thread.]

[He grins wide; no, no, he expected confusion.] Something like that. [He pulls it out of the package with ...]

[As much of a dramatic flourish as is possible with a tarp.]

[There's a lot of flailing and small half-expletives - it's a good size tarp, and you know what happens when you try to just shake one open in a hurry.]

I've got it! I've got it! [Halfway. Kind of. Sort of. He HAS managed to get it mostly unfolded, even if he's holding it up funny and just detangled his leg from it.]

It's a tarp! [He's peering over the edge he's holding up, grinning.] Waterproof, weatherproof plastic.

[well, it's one of the ones meant to keep wind and rain off things stored outside, so.] No magic involved, it's uh.

Something like evolved alchemy; taking stuff that's naturally occurring, and working with it until you've made a different material out of it.

It's ... [Oh god what was an older word for it? Was there one?] Anybody ever dig up something from pretty deep underground that was a similar color and all to tar, only more liquid, thinner, and more goopy than sticky?

[It's also probably not hard to get the tarp coming over - possibly even taking it out of his hands.]

That stuff's the base material, though it's through enough work that's kind of the base material the way a cotton tree is the base material of a tablecloth. [He's not bothering to let her hold it, just stepping back so she can see if it'll work.]

We can probably find something - I'm sure the bookstore would have some kind of paperweights or bookends, or we can hunt something else down if we need. [Endless optimism go!]
