Cup 011: Iroh [Video]

[Iroh looks like he's in some store. It's hard to tell, because it's somewhat dark. Iroh looks rather winded and on high alert.]

Those creatures out there are dangerous. I don't know if anyone else has dealt with them, but they don't go down without a fight.

[The camera angle shifts. The shelves behind Iroh are filled with what looks like bricks and wheels of cheese. A natural hiding place, it is.]

If anyone's out there, find somewhere to hide. You shouldn't be out alone.

I'm not sure, should I land?

[Dende stops and glances down at the crowd]

Yes. Let's see what's going on.

[Certainly not because this is not a wholly comfortable experience. Not that at all.]

[Dende nods and lowers himself to the ground. He let Iroh down gently, but desn't take a fighting stance. Because of course those human-like things couldn't possibley be hostile.]

[Or are they? They don't seem right, somehow. Iroh's on the alert.]

Hello there.

[Will they respond? He waits for them to say something.

He speaks in a low voice to Dende.]

Stay close to me.

[Dende nods and swallows a lump in his throat, a TEENSY BIT more on edge now]

[And oh? One whips it's head around with a big eary smile on it's face and starts giggling. With an odd lurch of it's head it charges at them, followed by the rest of it's group]

I-Iroh, I don't believe these are humans!

[...way to point out the obvious...]

[Don't worry; he figured that out already.]

No they are not. And I don't think they mean us well.

[Iroh lunges forward at the nearest one. A blast of fire tears from his closed fist and erupts against the nearest creature. It screams as the flames engulf it, but more keep coming.]

Help me, Dende.

R-right!

[Dende lays one hand over the other and shoots and forms a ki-blast in his hand]

MASENKO!

[and the shot is fired sending one of the Kishin through a nearby wall. He adopts a proper martial arts stance and lines his back up against Iroh's]

That's quite an interesting tecnique Iroh, I've neer seen anything like it before.

It is Firebending, a gift unique to the people of the Fire Nation.

[Iroh inhales again and whips his arms around. A ring of fire springs to life around the two.]

This might hold them off for a while, but we have to keep moving!

R-right!

[Dende grabs Iroh and hastily takes off again in search of somewhere safe. Once more he gorws tired from Iroh's weigh and decides to land once more. Deciding on another rooftop Dende descends and touches down lightly. Iroh didn't seem very comfortable with flying and Dende didn't want to make things worse for him]

S-sorry Iroh, would it be alright if I rested a bit?

[Iroh rubbed his sides.] Quite alright. I need a moment, anyway.

[He squinted into the distance. The kinshin would follow them, surely. They just had to look for them.]

[Dende sat down and materialized a glass of water for himself]

Is there anything you need Iroh?

[Iroh looks at Dende]

Water would be wonderful. Though I don't suppose you can pull tea out of thin air, can you?

[Dende chuckled]

As a matter of fact...

[And Dende materializes a glass of water and hands it to Iroh, with a big smile on his face]

[He takes the glass with a smile.]

Thank you. [He takes a sip.] That is a remarkably useful skill to have.

It is, but it has it's limits. I cannot materialize what I don't know, which I'm sorry to say is a great deal of food.

[He takes a sip of his own water]

Mostly just things I ate here as a child... so pretty much just candy and sweets.

[He chuckles]

Still, to be able to summon those things at will. The potential, Dende, is enormous. Have you done much training with it?

W-well not particularly. My people mostly just use it to generate water and clothes. Wh-what sort of training should I try with it? I've honestly never thought of such a thing...

[Iroh considers as he sips his water.]

Food, perhaps. Weapons, should you need them. A great comfortable chair to recline in. Anything you can think of. There must be limits, but I can't imagine it stops at water and clothing.

[Dende ponders it over for a bit]

Well, I could probably materialize furniture too, Though I'm far to clumsy to trust myself with a weapon.

[He chuckles]

I suppose anything that I know I could probably make, within reason anyway... I don't think I could materialize a house or anything like that....

Perhaps not. But I'd encourage you to experiment. You never know how much you can do with your abilities...

[He inhales, then exhales. He opens his palm, and arcs of lightning crackle between his fingers.]

...until you try.

[Dende watches with great interest at Iroh's little trick]

Wow!Is that part of 'bending' too, Iroh? I've seen ki channelled before, but never something quite as raw and elemental as fire and such.

[Iroh snaps his hands shut, and the electricity stops.]

It is. Firebending is a wide and varied art, and those who can control their emotions can create lightning.

I encourage you to try as much as you can, Dende. Whatever you can.

I will Iroh! Once we get back to the manor... I don't think this is the place to be squandering my energy...

[now excuse him while he nerds a bit]

That's amazing Iroh! How are you able to control it if I may ask?

[He smiles.]

Some call lightning the cold-blooded fire, for only one who is able to control their emotions can create it. Lightning is created through internal harmony, not anger. By separating the positive and negative energy within yourself, you create lightning.

Perhaps you should try.

M-me? W-well I've materialized a small flame before, but nothing like what you can do...

[Oh right, he's supposed to be trying things. Alright lets at least make an attempt at having a backbone]

But there's no hurt in trying I suppose! Alright lets see, it's been quite a while since I've done this...

[He kneels down and hold a hand out. In a brief flash a rather pathetic purple flame ~~because space fire is purple where he's from apparently~~ forms at the tip of his fingers, it lingers for a moment and then blows out]

I... don't think that's exactly how you do it....
