[The beach, the water, the blue sky...it's paradise. In theory. Because one man's paradise is another man's hell, and that man would be Matt. The only possible, logical reason for him to be sitting on the beach, his towel spread out between him and that cursed sand, is that he's under orders to do so.

He looks miserable.

And pissed.

And his nose is covered in sunscreen.

Matt takes a drag from his cigarette before letting it rest on a small plastic ashtray. He reaches for a neon green gun and points it at his head, closing his eyes before pulling the trigger. Squirt! The stream of cold water hits his cheek, and there's very very temporary relief from the heat.

Matt reaches for his cigarette, but it's not exactly where he left it. The ashtray has mysteriously 'grown' eight legs and is walking away.

Anyone for crab legs?]

[Mello kisses Matt before whispering the following into Matt's ear:]

I'm going to teach you how to swim.

[Because God knows what ELSE this place will pull on them, they could be out in the ocean, there could be a flood, there could be a morning they wake up on a raft in the middle of the fucking lake. And Mello will be damned before Matt dies of something as stupid and avoidable as drowning. He let Matt die stupidly once, he wasn't going to do it again.]

[Okay, that changes everything. The playful smirk vanishes from Matt's lips.]

[Which is probably what will wash up if he -doesn't- learn.]

[Mello's still on top of him]

Which could happen way too easily. That's why I'm teaching you how to swim. Then sandy towel sex.

[Neither for drowning nor lessons. But then...

Matt arches an eyebrow slowly.]

We can have sex when I'm slightly more confident you aren't going to die in a retarded accident.

[Mello can't help but chuckle at that]

[He kisses Matt]

[He smirks a bit into the kiss. Well, what else can he say but...]

[he slides off of Matt and gets to his feet]

[Record scratch sound.

Matt's sitting up, but hold everything.]

Water wings?

Joking. Life preserver and a kickboard. And no, I'm not kidding about those.

[Matt sighs, casting a glance around the beach as he gets to his feet.]

If anyone else sees me, I'm sinkin' straight to the bottom.

That's what the life preserver's for, Matt.

[Smirks]

[Matt groans and marches towards the water like a man going to meet his execution squad.]

Fuck me.

[Mello takes him to the dock.]

Ready?

[Before getting an answer Mello kicks him into the water]

[Matt parts his lips to respond...but Mello's already kicking him into the water. His eyes widen and he tries to keep his balance, but the splash that follows is a pretty good sign that he failed.]

Fu--! You're a dick!

[Matt sputters.]

[Mello dives in after him, glad that Matt's wearing the vest because he clearly would have sunk otherwise. He shrugs at the accusation. He's been called less accurate things]

You don't even know how to tread water, huh?

[Matt splashes and bobs in Mello's general direction, attempting to cling to him.]

Dick.

Would you have really gotten into the water otherwise?

[Mello doesn't let him cling.]

First things first. Get on your back.

[Matt stops struggling, bobbing in the water as he looks at him.]

Can't wait, huh.

[He tries to do as he's told though, it just takes him longer. Every time he lays back, he's sure he's going underwater.]

[As if he can read Matt's mind]

That life-vest's not a fucking fashion accessory, you aren't going to sink. Kick.

[He finally relaxes...and starts to kick.]

My legs are tired.

Your vest is hardly an improvement.

[Mello rolls his eyes]

You've been in the water less than ten minutes. Keep going, you're actually not doing badly.
