The one wrong move would be refusing to to alert the other residents we have a murderer in our midst. It's not like we can keep the crime scene from being noticed-- people will have questions we should let them know what happened and that we're working on it- not to mention we're going to have to question people- unless you intended to go about this assuming you're right about the killer and not interrogate anyone.
