You are all so noisy! I can't even here myself think-and I think pretty loud, I think.

There's been a murder and now we have a riot- I think this means we're all just a little too insensitive to the people we live with and are forgetting our manners, if we even have them.

You detectives are no better, I'm sorry but you're going to have to come up with a better way of going about things- and this time do not ask the author to back you up- you all see how much good that did. Might I suggest we hold this off until we have a better understanding of our manor-mates?

I'll help wherever I can- I'm good at helping in investigations- just usually- I dabble in alien investigations.

I see. [A slight pause.] You mentioned an education system. It sounds intriguing though I cannot say that I would be fully interested in helping out in your venture. Perhaps someone with a bit more time to dedicate in the forging of young minds, yes?

Of course I think it's important. And you know, I agree. We really shouldn't ask the Author to back us up on anything. It's very clear that she's got her own agenda and not our best interests in mind.

What's your proposal on education?

Her agenda is drama. We've all known that so if it's more dramatic to take the opposing side then of course, she will.

I think we need to find away to instate some kind of education system- a few of these residents are high school age and as such should be schooled- and few non-school aged ones.

Obviously, it'd have to be one of those... one room schools- everyone in the same grade.

The thing is, I couldn't be left in charge of a school- I can teach any subject in the book- but someone else would have to be the principal.

Okay. I'm used to running a business and I'm an accountant by trade. I have a school age daughter back home and I don't know if that counts for anything...still you have a clear argument.

[Gene takes a moment to think things through.]

First of all, we should try to establish something of a foundation, like a mission statement. A grass roots campaign to make this stick. It's not going to be an easy thing to start with but it's a start nonetheless.

What's the missionary statement of any school? To broaden the horizons of today's youth. If you want to teach someone something- like how to get along with others- you start with the children.

..actually- we should probably take some of the standard school courses out as not everyone has the same geometry in their world- same with literature- I imagine those are probably a bit different world to world.

With taking courses out we should put in some of our own, I'd think. A nice course on learning to tolerate each other should be order, I think- or a least learn about the different worlds and what other people are used too- that would actually probably help to shape a legal system into place.

No, you're absolutely right, it is selfish- not that most humans aren't- that is a little extreme.

... Do you seriously expect us to hold off on doing something when there's someone getting killed slowly and painfully DAILY?

The legal system itself will take time - but for now, we need to cut this off before there are too many more victims.

I didn't say that- I think we should hold off on re-instating a new justice system- catch the murderer and hold them in a makeshift jail or something- at least until we can all vote on what's to be done.

I don't think anyone that's legitimately working on the investigation has gotten as far as discussion of laws yet anyway - no time for anything beyond "Torturing people to death is Not To Be Tolerated". [Oh yes, that's very bitter snark there.]

Certainly. There are enough young children here that need schooling, or at least some sort of guiding hand.

If you're looking to organize one, I can be of assistance. I am a teacher back where I come from.
