[Stepping out of his room and expecting to be met with his dark, chaotic studio, Leonardo is cut short when he see's a long corridor, stretching to either side. He pauses, half in the door and half out, before crossing the threshold completely, closing the door behind him. He hesitates, but only for a moment, before his curiousity gets the best of him, and he heads towards a nearby staircase.

As he descends it, Leonardo tried to think of possible reasons why he was here. The Borgia, perhaps? Had they heard of his inventions? If that were the case, they wouldn't have left him so unguarded. And that didn't explain how his entire workshop was here, in tact (or, as in tact as was possible).

Doing a little jump down the last step, Leo smiles to himself as he folds his arms behind his back, and takes a moment to look around his new surroundings]

Ho la sensazione che questa sta per diventare molto interessante...*I have a feeling this is going to become very interesting*...

[Leonardo listens patiently as Shaun struggles with his sentence. However, when he mentions Ezio, his expression goes to one between confusion and sadness; that was a point..as long as he was here, he wouldn't see his friend]

Si, I do - But, how do you know Ezio? Forgive me, but, you do not dress like an Italian man, and your accent..British?

[Shaun stopped and winced. Okay, so that was probably not the best way to get his trust. Because how the hell was he supposed to explain the animus to him and that he'd been watching him through it.]

Uhm.. Thank you. It's.. a long story? We fight for the same cause. But, yes I am British. Do you want to come with me? There's a lot to explain.

[Leonardo wasn't sure what was more confusing - how he got here, or what Shaun just said]

I didn't know Ezio knew any Englishmen..The same cause? Mi dispiace, I do not understand, so I suppose I will have to come with you..

[Shaun rubbed the back of his head.]

Well he doesn't really know me. I know him through a device called the Animus. I work with his descendant Desmond Miles.

Have you ever heard of the theory that people's genetics and DNA can hold information and knowledge of their ancestors? The animus works upon this idea.

[You had him at 'Genetics' - Leonardo's eyes widen, though he's torn between smiling and frowning in bubbling curiousity]

The 'Animus'? Genetics...Forgive me, signore, but, you must tell me everything. I mean, every detail - come, follow me

[Without hesitation, he turns on his heel and heads back upstairs]

We shall go to my workshop - I can take notes there, and you can tell me how this machine works - I've never heard of what you're speaking of - DNA, was it? It sounds fascinating though - you must be from the future! I know many of Italy's most modern thinkers, and none have ever mentioned anything like this. So, you can watch the past...through a device? Astounding...se solo riuscissi a studiare..

[Oh god this was going to be long. Shaun nodded and followed after him, well he deserved no less. Besides, he still wasn't 100% sure if Abstergo had ties here or not, so it was best to warn Leo as soon as possible.]

Yeah, the last I check back home it was September 2012.

Mm, the animus is a machine that through reading your DNA, it's the chemicals within your blood that can be used to identify you. It's like a biological identity tag. With it you can tell who you're related to - normally you need the person you want to check's DNA too, but the animus looks into the much deeper side of your genetics and hoists up the memories that are hidden within it.

I'm not sure of the mechanics of it myself; if I knew that I wouldn't be the one that had to always hide the bloody van.
Anyway, we needed to use Ezio's memories in order to locate something that would help us defeat Abstergo, who are better known as Templars. Ezio mentioned you to Rodrigo Borgia?

[Now in Leo's room/workshop, he looks back at Shaun apologetically as he starts to shift papers and books out of the way. Pulling a large, worn book out of the mess, he fetches a pencil out of his belt and starts taking hurried notes on what Shaun was saying. His writing was astoundingly awful, barely-decipherable Italian, and was written backwards. Good luck note comparing, Shaun..]

Si, Si...sostanze chimiche nel sangue..dal cervello forse? Or maybe the heart...identification, personal identification form the body...incredible, absolutely, utterly, completely...astounding - It makes so much sense! Why families look alike! Yes!!*

[Looking up at Shaun, his eyes wide with excitement and a knowledge fuelled ecstasy. As he speaks, he makes hand gestures with his fingers splayed]

This is amazing, my friend! Knowledge- no, science, has come so far, it is beyond comprehension! I must know more-

[At the mention of Templars, his smile wavers, and he straightens up]

Borgia..? Si, I know of him

Science has come a very long way. The 18th and 19th century held the era of the industrial revolution, hell you practically started any technological advancement in your time. But the 20th century was really when any form of advanced technological changes happened, from about 1980 onwards we've been constantly developing computers and from knowledge gained from the Apple - Abstergo created the animus.

[Giving a sigh he nods.]

Whilst Ezio may have succeeded in hindering them greatly in his era.. Abstergo are winning in our time. They know more about the past than we do. They've been kidnapping assassins and forcing them into the animus at great psychological expenses.

[This was the second person to tell him he was famous in the future..Leonardo had to try and remain composed. Going back to scribbling in his book, after a minute he moves out of the way and hands Shaun the pencil]

Please, draw it for me - the animus? I would love to see it

[Although he's reigning himself in, Leonardo can't help but let some questions slip out..]

Kidnapping? So, you still have assassin's in your time? And how does this machine affect them so?

[Shaun hums trying to think of the basic layout. It was easy enough, it just looked like a metal frame recliner without the padding - more modern art looking than anything else.]

It doesn't look like anything particularly amazing.

[Shaun doesn't mind the questions. Unlike Ezio he'd rather he was in the know, then he could keep himself safe.]

Far and few between, but I think that's always been the case after Altair's time. A certain group of them keep themselves to a place called 'The Farm', Desmond ran away as a child and kept himself hidden, but Abstergo tracked him down using his finger prints for his motorbike license.
The times before that they'd just infiltrate the place and snatch them away I'm assuming.
As for the effects of the animus, well, let's put it this way. If you spend too long in there then you eventually won't need it to visit your ancestors. The Bleeding Effect makes people relive their ancestors memories as though they're happening around them. They see things that aren't there, hear things - eventually they go insane. Subject 16 is a testament to that.. poor kid.

[Leonardo just seems even more enthralled with the idea of the Animus, his smile returning with new, empassioned curiousity]

Quite the opposite, Signore Hastings; it's truly amazing, I would love the chance to study it's mechanics.

As for this 'Farm' place..the whole idea behind it seems very..what's the word..'dark'? Does that make sense?

[He carries on with a sigh, regardless of whether or not it does make any sense]

I only wish Ezio had told me more about this all..perhaps I could have been more useful to him

[Shaun is at least a little encouraged by this.]

I'm sure you'd probably work out how to stop the bleeding effect if you knew how to work modern mechanics.

Yeah I get you. The only reason it was so isolated was to avoid detection by Abstergo. These days they're a shadow corporation that can see pretty much everything.

Knowing Ezio, I think he did it because he just wanted to keep you safe. The less you knew the less likely you would get caught up in it.

[Granted looking at Leo, he didn't look as old as he had in the 1500's, he was probably still in Venice.]

Oh, if I had the chance, I would jump at it, rest assured

[Although Shaun had only mentioned him twice, Leonardo felt odd - it was like homesickness, only for a person; more than missing them, but not describable]

Yes, that does sound like him..

[Instantly noticing that vibe Shaun thinks it's best to change the subject. Though they could muse and share stories at his content should ever he need reminding.]

He got that from his father.

I'd introduce you to the others but it's just me here. Which is is probably a blessing. I don't think there are any Templars here. No one seems to know what they are-- though that's not much different from normal..

The others? Oh, you mean your colleagues? Like this Desmond person?

[Closing the book, Leo glances at Shaun]

So..how many other people are there here?

Yeah, Desmond, Rebecca and Lucy.

Oh, lord knows. There's been quite a few suddenly appearing, I'd say just under a hundred give or take.

[He looks surprised at that]

That many..? Vedo..

How long have you been here, my friend?

This'll be my 4th week once it's out. I've heard of some being here for nearly 8 months.

[Leonardo wasn't expecting that..he looks genuinely concerned. He couldn't afford to be away for so long, and without explanation..]

That is a long time..Is there no way to get back? At all?

[Shaun nods grimly.]

Yeah.. I'm in charge of tactics for those Assassins in the field. Without me they may as well be flying blind.

Not unless she gets bored of you, or you serve no purpose to the story any longer. She's a bit fickle like that.

[Although his mood has dropped, he still puts on a smile]

Well, I suppose all that's left to do now is make the most of what is put in front of us!

[Shaun's face contorts a few times before he shrugs - apparently giving in to Leonardo's logic.]

Always Mr. Positive aren't you? Or I could just keep moaning about it because that's what us Brits do.

[Chuckling, he leans back on his desk]

I always thought the English were renowned for rash descisions and fabulous court parties~?

Haaah, not these days. We're renowed for our whining, bad food and trying to cling to the memory of once being one of the biggest empires in history. Oh and our free health care system everyone takes advantage of.

But I won't bore you with that. -- Well we do have awesome parties still but they're not always as classy.

I wouldn't mind having the oppotunity to go to England sometime - I've never really travelled outside of Italia you see
