{3rd Deathray} Finishing up some details

[Megamind finished his report for Black Jack and has sealed up the envelope. It didn't take him long but the fact that he had seen his life in a medical history report didn't seem all that impressive to him in the least. Most of what he has written down was from memory and from the physician's report while he was growing up in the prison...that later became his home then left with a clean record once he saved the city.

Upon reaching Black Jack's door, he looked both ways and slipped the envelope under the door. Walking away, he felt that there was something else that needed to be added to the sheet but he couldn't remember what it was and hesitated.]

Crab nuggets. Well, it's too late to take it back now. I'll catch him later.

[He whispers as he turns and walks away. Now it was time to return to his room and start another project. One that required a bit of secrecy and privacy for both Roxanne and Megamind. The trouble is, not waking her up to do it.]

Tomorrow?!

[The fact that he'll have to sit down all day didn't mesh well but he'll find something to do. Deflated, he sighs.]

Okay. I'll do it.

[Eybrow goes here.]

Good.

Don't worry, from what I've seen, you heal pretty fast.

But it still hurts.

[He's a bit whiny now. Mostly for attention more than anything else. He pauses and switches gears.]

Roxanne? Can I ask you something?

[Now he was just being whiny, but she indulges him.]

Want me to kiss it better?~

[And then the conversation suddenly shifts.]

Sure.

[There is a grin at her first comment.]

Somehow, I can't picture you kissing anyone's foot including my own regardless if it's hurt or not.

[He inhales deeply and exhales slowly.]

What if we can't get out of this place? What if the rumors are true and there is no escape? What are we going to do in the meantime to ensure that we don't go insane or waste away in this pseudo-civilization?

[He pauses.]

Okay, that was more than one but I think they're all relevant.

You're right, I don't kiss people's feet or anything highter for that matter.

[When Megamind finishes going through his questions, she grabs the sides of his face and gently turns it to her.]

First of all, relax. Panicking won't help.

Second: so what if there's no escape? We'll just create one, if it comes to that.

[His eyes soften from the panic he was feeling, she was right about the panicking, a soft smile coming to him.]

You're right, Roxanne. I shouldn't be panicking. I should be thinking of a way to make it better than to wallow in self pity for my inabilities. Heroes don't have weaknesses...do they?

[He places his hands on top of hers. Megamind smiles, keeping the levity going.]

I don't have enough hair to pull.

They do have weaknesses, just like any other person. The thing is, to understand that and accept that.

[She kisses his forhead before standing up.]

I better go get you that ice.

[A light blush came to his cheeks and a smile. Her caring nature at this moment really gave him the boost he needed to regain his confidence during his moment after the slip. She was always right. If the tables were turned, she would be the hero and he would be her support. For now, he'll learn from his mistakes and as she said he'll accept his weaknesses and turn them into a strength. It was figuring out how to make it work that presents the biggest challenge yet.]

You don't have to get the ice. [He reaches out for her hand.] Thank you.

[For the first time, he showed true gratitude which will be the first of many firsts.]

You're welcome. But I'll go get the ice anyway, just indulge me, okay?

[She gently squeezes his hand before going out of his door. Ten minutes later, she's back and she hands the ice bag to him before sitting again.]

Here.

[As he sat and waited, he thought about everything that he wanted to say before but couldn't because he wasn't sure how well she would take it. Upon her return, his thoughts shattered and scattered in thousands of glimmering pieces but the memories were still there. He could feel her approaching. The cold dampness of the ice pack in his hands and the gentle way she moved made it more real to him that she was and is still as real to him as the memories in his mind.]

[Putting the icepack on his still sore foot, he winced slightly but he managed to take care of the injury that was healing at a fantastic rate.]

I have a question. What did happen that night before you found out that I wasn't really Bernard?
