[There's an open door in the manor that really should lead to some godforsaken utility closet! Instead, it's open to a fairly hot summer day, with a bright blue, cloudless sky. There's a smell of smoke and black powder to the air in some areas, but it is generally a nice enough day. Honestly, it's kind of eerie! There's a winding path with greenery around it, forming a giant spiral shape leading to a giant tower with an even larger clock in the center of it.
If you look for people, there is exactly one, and she is on the roof of a whitewashed, two-story cottage with a thatched roof and a few outbuildings. There's a cloth spread out under her, and she is very obviously soaking up the sun. Anyone who knows Tris might see a few telltale signs of discontent- and Briar will most assuredly be able to tell that Tris is shaken.
But it's not nearly as bad as it could be. Enjoy your walled temple community visit!]

Oy!
[Readying himself for battle just in case, Jack has his hand on the hilt of his sword.]

There's nobody here but us. I wouldn't be relaxing- or trying to- up here if there was anyone else here. Welcome to Winding Circle Temple; I doubt my brother would be happy if you walked in the garden, just as a fair warning.

[Jack keeps his eyes open for anything that would suggest a battle coming his way. He hasn't looked up to see Tris just yet. He's still taking in his surroundings and carefully inspects the area for a quick means for escape should one need to be found.]
Where would you suggest I go, milady?
no subject
[Tris is pointing out a path.] Just stay out of where there are obviously cultivated plants.
no subject
Considered taken, merchant. Still, why must I stay on this path other than to not want to invite ire from your brother person?

[None of that really made any sense to him but who was he to stomp on someone else's domain and not give a second thought. As selfish as he was, he was also seriously outmatched here.]
It would be a shame to illicit any negative response to the later, eh?
[Taking a few steps back, he certainly didn't want to cause any unnecessary reactions.]

As long as no chickens appear, I'm good wiff it.
[And there's a good reason he doesn't like chickens.]

[Briar whoops out loud and dives through the door into the place, heading straight for the gardens and 'his' plants -- well, most of them are Rosethorn's, but...]
[Tris, have you seen this?]
no subject
[He's entirely too ... it's almost like wandering through doors that lead to nonsensical places that shouldn't be attached to that door is normal for him.]

[Briar, you might want to shield your eyes. There's someone coming who- well. You'll want your magical sight shielded.]
[Tris is going to flounce down the ladder. She actually seems happy to see this person, but call her on it and she will head up de nile so fast.]

[--get off, you daft plant. Huh? Gimmie a second... Alright.]
[He ambles out of the gardens slowly, taking his time to calm the plants down as he passes. Who's our guest?]
no subject
[Of course, as soon as he spots the two mages, he's picking up to a jog and heading up to the cottage.]
Tris!

Soma. This is Briar, my foster-brother. [She's gesturing a little. Just in case you thought the foster-brother was the house or something, I don't know.]
no subject
[I see what you mean, Coppercurls.]
[Nevertheless, he grins and lifts a hand in friendly welcome.]
S'you're the one who took it on hiself to brave Miss Britches.
[Pure devilry makes him call her that; with any luck, he'll be able to tell the tale of her swearing to never wear trews, and annoy his sister (in a completely loving way, of course) all at once.]
no subject
Brave?
...Miss Britches? [Oh that's a new one >w>]
no subject
Briar Moss, if you tell him what I think you want to tell him I will grab you by your ankles and hang you in the well. I don't care if that's Rosethorn's threat, I will do it. [Her face isn't red at ALL. Oh no.]
no subject
Oh nothin'. Just that she swore trews were undignified, and you'd never see her improperly dressed.
[His sidling has taken him behind Soma, using him as a shield.]
And now just look at her!
