{9th Deathray} Abandoned [In Person]

[Megamind found the letter in the rubble which was all he had left from Roxanne. His eyes were red from hiding his fears and his tears. He hasn't slept at all for three days and after reading the letter, he collapses. Now he knows what happened. He curls up under the structure that he wasn't finished with yet and draws his knees up to his chest. It was the hardest thing for him to endure.]

Emma, we can stop looking for Roxanne. I know where she is.

[The blame he placed on himself for the ship really didn't help matters. He was feeling terrible and it showed. Eventually, he falls asleep, clutching the letter tightly in his hands.]

[She doesn't have to ask him to know what's happened. She can sense his overwhelming sorrow.]

I am very sorry, Megamind.

Thank you. She's safe now but that doesn't make it any easier to cope. I don't deserve anyone's pity but I appreciate your help.

[Yes, he's still blaming himself for the craft crashing in this infernal place.]

I do which doesn't help and I shouldn't be selfish in wanting to keep her here, really. I guess....I really need to talk this out. I feel like I stepped in sinking sand.

[He could sense through the telepathic link that she too feels loss but he can't pinpoint it through his own heartbreak.]

I should be happy she's not here to suffer this place. Oh, this hurts. Why does it hurt so bad? I never felt this before.

It's called love, dear. And it hurts. It can give you the worst pain you'll ever feel in your life. And the greatest joy. Foolish, really, but you just can't help it.

It stinks. It sucks the life out of people. *sighs* But you're right. It can be a really good thing too. She was...no, she still is a part of me and I can't just sweep what we had under the rug either. Ugh!

No, and it would be foolish to do so. That experience is now a part of you, like it or not. It has shaped you. You must accept that she is almost certainly safer out of this damnable place than in it, even if she is separate from you. You can still honor your love for her, even if she's not here.

[Looks like Therapist!Emma's back.]

Yes, you're right. How can I honor her? I mean...what do I do? What am I supposed to do? I feel so lost, Emma. I've never had this happen before. Usually I just pick myself up and move on but...somehow I feel like I'll betray her if I do.

[It comes from being a nosy telepath. The sex therapy thing didn't hurt either.]

Oh, move on, by all means. Don't wallow in your misery and be unproductive, for God's sake. But remember her. To forget about her and the bond you have, well, that would be tragic. This is just like any other bump on the road of life. This one just hurts more than others.

[He took a moment to think about it. What exactly she meant is up to his own interpretation and he sighs.]

You're right. I'll have to keep it in prospective. It's not like she's dead and it is possible that she'll come back. What is it called where a person believes in something they can't see? Oh...right...faith.

You know, you're absolutely right. Gah, how could I have been a fool for wasting time wallowing when I could be working. Okay...it's time to crack my knuckles and get moving. I'm starting to grow mold.

[Now all that's left is to get his projects completed so they at least have some shelter from the rain.]

[She monitors him for a few moments as he returns to the tasks at hand. He'll be alright, eventually. He'll heal in time. Everyone does.]

[Ryuutaro had spend the time mostly on his own. He hadn't felt any need to communicate, especially as his looks were... 'destroyed'. His clothes were dirty and torn, his make-up was missing and there were healing wounds...
No, he had no felt any need to show that to anybody.

But as he saw Megamind looking that miserable, he couldn't stop himself from coming over to him. The alien was about the only person he was remotely close to... and it was surely weird to see Megamind like this.

Ryuutaro walked over, but said nothing and instead just sat down next to Megamind quietly.]

[He hadn't looked up from his miserable state. It was too hard for him to look at anyone at this point. He felt crushed, destroyed and utterly miserable. The letter in his hand was clinched tightly in his fist. He stirred slightly to indicate that he had woken up and a sigh came through.]

She's gone.

[Oh. There wasn't much doubt as to who was meant with 'she'. Roxanne Ritchi. The only 'she' Ryuutaro had ever heard Megamind talk about... No. The only thing in general (besides science) that Megamind had every truly talked about to him. Or at least it felt like that.
If she had left this place, that explained everything about Megamind's current state of mind.

Ryuutaro felt the urge to just smile and say something about it being fate, but he stopped himself. Not even he was that cruel. Instead he offered a more harmless comment.]

Being sad is natural, but always remind yourself... This isn't a goodbye forever. You'll see her again.

That's what she said.

[He looks up and wipes his eyes. He still hadn't looked at Ryuutaro just yet simply because he wasn't exactly feeling himself and he wanted people to remember him as strong and not broken.]

Y-you really think so?

[He wanted to believe it himself. He wanted to work toward that goal but something didn't make sense to him. How is that she was able to leave when the portal was just a plan?]

The Author...wrote her out. This is a twisted place.

I do. [He sounded confident,even though he wasn't entirely sure. But there was no need to say that.]

And... yes, it is twisted. But there has to be a deeper meaning behind it.

[Something opened up deep within him that he hasn't been able to tap before. It was like his eyes were opened for the first time in years from a lifelong coma. He slowly stands up and looks at the ship then back at his surroundings. His brow knitted, his hands clinched into tight fists.]

This...isn't real. It can't be. I don't feel anything.

[It was numbing at the same time it was surreal. His head was swimming with all sorts of possibilities.]

[Not real? Either Megamind just had a really good realization or he was plainly going a bit crazy from the pain.
Ryuutaro was pretty sure that this was real. Especially after getting out of that starship with all of his injuries...]

I'm not sure what you mean by 'not real'. Until now I was under the impression that you thought it was reality as much a the next person does.

[He also got up, disliking to be down on the ground when the person he talked to was standing, therefore higher]

[His brow softens and looks at Ryuutaro. His shoulders relax visibly. There was something that needed to be explained on his part.]

I'm sorry. That's not what I meant. What's around us physically is real. What's not real is the fact that implications and assumptions of death and the perception thereof. She's alive...I know she is...she's simply not here which means my reality has shifted.

[Ryuutaro tilted his head, pointing his fan at Megamind slightly. It was not an energetic gesture this time, more of a movement that was done lost in though.]

I never was under the impression that those who left 'died'. If they did, it'd have to mean that by coming here we also died in our worlds. I consider it... unlikely.

[He nods his head. His thoughts are a little lost in the fact that Roxanne is gone now and he can't think properly. Welcome to the stages of grief, Megamind. You're in denial.]

Well, yes, that's true too. I'm feeling numb because she's not here. She...oh it's hard to explain. I guess I should have paid closer attention to what she was telling me from the beginning.

[Ryuutaro was reaching his limits at listening to emotional rambling. Yeah, already. Nobody ever said these limits were very hard to reach.
He took a step forward, pointing his closed fan at Megamind's mouth to make him shut up]

I absolutly understand that this is hard for you. You love her. And isn't that the reason you should pull yourself together now and be a man that is worthy of hers? [The last part was spoken pretty harshly while the first was said in his usual sweet tone.]

[His eyes widened and now he was the one that had to listen. Ryuutaro was right and the tone woke him up. How could he have let himself go this far down? It was time to do something about it than wallow.]

Y-yes...

[Ryuutaro smiled a sweet faked smile and then opened the fan]

Wonderful. I have faith in your ability to deal with this.

[Being jarred into reality again, he looked around and started to get to work again, this time, he wasn't going to speak on the matter any further. He needed the distraction.]

[Ryuutaro was perfectly fine with it, he wasn't up for being social anyway. He walked away and sat down again, though he remained within sight]

[He pulls out his De-Gun and uses the De-coupage setting which really does nothing more than to make something ugly look pretty. He smirks, looks over his shoulder at Ryuutaro and fires at the structure.]

Ha! Man, I do good work.

You okay?

[He doesn't say a word and only holds out the letter addressed to him from Roxanne. It reads:

Dear Megamind,

If you get this, it's most likely that I'm gone and you're left behind. Don't give up! Minion and I will build the portal on our side to come and get you. Build the portal on you side and we will meet again.

According to what I understand, people don't remember being here when they go home. She'll forget about me.

Well, she'll properly still remember and one day return, I mean odd appears to be higher that someone returns than someone new coming from your world appears.

I'm not one I be helpful in a situation like this, but you can always do what she suggested, just for something to do.

I hate feeling this mel-an-colly. The last time I felt this bad was when I realized that I really did kill Metroman but in fact he only faked his death which really didn't help...then I nearly gave up entirely. It feels like that and really, without all my tools, I can't build the portal. My notes were left in the other ship.

[He really didn't mean to sound so jaded but he's not sure where to go with this other than tell the truth about how he's feeling about these matters.]

It's okay to feel like that, it's perfectly normal. I guess I'll be someone you can talk to if you're feeling down.

What's there to really talk about? I'm so tired.

[He leans his head down again to rest it on his knees.]

I've never been...this alone before. I always had someone...Minion, Roxanne, Metro Man...but now, it's just me.

What about people you've talked to here?

[With Megamind being used to being by himself, he never really thought he had any friends outside of his little world. He perks up a little then gives a slight wince.]

I'm so sorry, Kaoru. I've been so wrapped up in my self pity that I had forgotten I made friends here. There's you and there's...some weird guy that smells like strawberry jam, Emma, Hayato and Ryuutaro.

[His smile returns.]

Yes...YES!! I have friends here!

Exactly, that's what will help in the end.

[Perks up instantly.]
