Cake & OCD 003 - [Video / Garbled Audio]
[[The screen may look as though it's going to be showing someone's face about any moment, but it seems otherwise has been planned for the system by the giant "
" spaced out on the screen in a fancy lettering. Guess who's found his predecessor's method for posting anonymously in this fashion at least? His voice is high, garbled and un-gender-specific via this method though there is a hint of baritone in the after-effect.]]
This is L.
I've noticed from a recent arson that many detectives have come forward to 'solve' this rather hum drum case. So this begs the question, just how many people out there are detectives or involved in enforcement for that matter? My curiosity has gotten the best of me.
I refuse to respond to anyone not using a secure, unhackable line.
That is all.

[Later//In Person -- Locked to BB.]
[[L is having a horrible time trying to move something he's deeming clean enough to take with him to his room from in the hallway that he's currently calling the way to his home. He's got his sleeves down over his hands and wants more than anything to not be touching the dirt infested room or the large book-case that he's trying to move right that moment. He sighs after a mighty effort of a pull and stands back with frustration on his sighed breath.]]
Ugh. I wish Watari was here.
[[He blinks and looks over his shoulder toward the end of the hall when he hears some creaking, furthermore to the other side when he hears creaking again. It's not until the book-case is almost on top of him that he tries his best to move out of the way and after the dust settles, L tries to crawl out of it, coughing and sputtering.
He pauses and looks back when his legs won't move and shares both a 'FML' moment and a moment of despair. The damned thing has fallen on his legs and though it doesn't feel like they're broken, that thing - be as strong as he is - isn't moving from the position of almost flat on his face that he ends up in if he doesn't twist himself around.]]
Damnit.

[Audio/Private] - Super encrypted - Unknown number and all that jazz
In any case, the fact remains that this "L" is seeking detectives. He must have either not been at the manor for very long or he must have been highly distracted during his time here. Perhaps he had been temporarily incapacitated like Hakuba. Da Vinci had provided Near with a detailed, labelled map of the manor on the 10th of April, which clearly indicated that a man named Ryuzaki had been living with a Light Yagami, a situation that could not be marked off as mere coincidence. Since then, Near had confirmed that every new arrival were not in any way related to L except for the second man that claimed to be named Ryuzaki.
On one hand, this could be that latter Ryuzaki putting on some desperate display for attention. (Although Yagami could pull off a subpar L, doing so in this kind of senseless manner, with L around no less, was not his style.) The only question that remains is what could he possibly gain from this, knowing that L is already here?
On the other, this is the real L.]
There were seven as of April 10th, according to the calendar here that is.
[You asked for a headcount, so that's all your getting.]
Well, [offscreen smirk] nine, including the two of us.
[Near has never spoken to L and does not know what L sounds like, though he can recognize his speech patterns well enough through the filtered audio. But whether or not L cared enough about the succession to know Near's voice is anyone's guess. The last line, therefore, was meant to serve as a huge hint in the very likely chance that he did not.]
Perpetually the same as Near's
It was one of his successors hiding out in plain sight.
Excuse the slight pride that his successor could be so crafty, this held well with him knowing home was left in good hands. It couldn't be Mello, he was far too volatile and he had only spoken with him a while back about the cases concerning everyone's favourite jam lover. It couldn't be Matt, he wasn't careful enough and acts brashly like Mello and L has never really done much speaking past the two of them to warrant it being anyone but:]
Near.
Efficient and organized as always.
back to partayyyy!
The unexpected praise also caught Near off guard.
Onoes! Near knows not how to respond to praise from his respected mentor. Near will use ignore! >_<]Will that be all, L?
[Baiting. Pretending to retreat in order to get the other party to reach further.
It wouldn't be hard to find out Near's name, considering the nonexistent security system at the manor and the blatant fact that his name is tacked onto an unremovable name plate right outside his room. But if this really was an imposter and compulsive enough to figure out a way to tack on Near's name to his voice at the manor (considering Near has ceased revealing anything related to his identity on the public feeds since the week after he arrived at the Manor), there's no way he would be satisfied with just that meager amount of information, especially not knowing that Near might have ties to L.
If this really is L, however, if he cared enough about his successors to know their voices, he should be interested in digging more himself.
Near twirls his hair and waits.]
