[IN PERSON:

Jake is walking through the halls of the manor and towards his room. He had hoped the start of a new week would mean the re-emergence of food and liquor, but subsequent trips to the kitchen have proved otherwise. He's on his way back from another unsuccessful check of the goods when he's certain he hears footsteps behind him. He stops, looks over his shoulder, and waits a moment to see who it might be.

...no one appears and the footsteps stop. Huh.

He starts walking again with a shrug, but the footsteps start almost immediately. Once more he whips around to find nothing. This...this isn't right. There's someone there. He feels it, but...

One hand is already in his pocket, going for his knife, although he keeps it there for now. The other hand produces his blackberry and Jake very carefully turns on the voice feature.]

[VOICE:]

Know this seems a bit abrupt, but anyone else notice anything strange 'round the ranch today? Seems like we still ain't got anythin' to eat but I keep gettin' the most ornery suspicion I-

[IN PERSON:

And that's where the speaking itself stops, as Jake suddenly finds himself run through with a long blade from behind. His hand on his own knife tightens reflexively, but he doesn't have the time to react, having been taken totally by surprise and caught off guard. All he can do is weakly gurgle and cough as he slides off the killer's weapon and falls into a heap on the ground, his life draining out of him in a matter of seconds. His blackberry drops with him, bouncing a few times on the floor, before the video feature is knocked on.]

There isn't really a good shot of much of anything, other than the edge of a wall and the hallway floors. However, anyone who watches the feed long enough will notice a red puddle appear on one corner of the transmission and grow across the feed...]

[As soon as the cut was made, he could smell it. He'd recovered from his earlier loosing of senses, and he had put himself on lockdown in his room. But... Jake was a friend. he could-

would keep it together if jake was hurt. But then.... something worrying. He heard a heartbeat slowing down. No. He rushed to the scene, but by the time he got there, he knew it was too late. Jake's heartbeat had stopped. His hat had survived the attack, though. He picked it up, looking at the body sadly.

He'd come back and take it outside to burn later (no ghosties here, thanks). He put the hat on his head.]

....I'll keep it safe for you. [He said quietly. He went back to his room, and sat with the hat in his hands. they hadn't been friends long, but they'd been friends. He sat to mourn the loss of his friend quietly, preparing himself for what he knew he would have to do later.]

[Enjoy that hat while you have it, Dean. Jake's gonna be wanting it back whenever he lives again.

Take good care of it, Pardner. :p]

[He will. :P]

[No. Please, no. This isn't happening, not again. Not another death! Another murder! Not again!
But Mikami isn't a person for being in denial for long. There were things that needed to be done]

Can you hear me? If you're alive and conscious, please respond!

[And here Mikami is headed for what he suspects to be the place from the video. Spotting the corpse he stops dead, just looking at him for a moment.

Not again.

He would have to contact some people]

[Saguru wasn't RUNNING, but he was in a pretty good hurry - he had a good idea what'd happened, and was ... honestly, as much as he was worried about Jake, somewhat more angry and frustrated than anything else at the destructive stupidity of people.]

[He wasn't being overly quiet, or at least, he wasn't making any efforts to hide his presence as he stalked up, already scanning for just what had happened and what signs there might be to give a good clue where to look...]

[Mikami had just recorded his message to the detectives as he heard the footsteps and turned around. He should have known they would be here fast.
It was something he had come to appreciate about the local detectives. They were quick and ambitioned. Sadly it hadn't helped them earlier.
Hopefully this case would be different.

Teru didn't say anything for a moment, letting Saguru examine the scene patiently. The sooner any possible hints were found, the more likely they'd get the killer fast.

The prosecutor himself directed his look back at the corpse as well. B's work? ... It would be unlike him to kill while being recorded...
So chances were that they had a second cruel killer. Not a very pleasant thought...]

[He went about it quickly and methodically - studying the bloodstains, a few smudges indicative of footprints, the wound itself, even nudging with a pen at Jake's collar and the front of his jacket with a frown...]

You came responding to the video clip, correct? [He's frowning, but his tone is very calm and level - Mikami is an ally here, and far from the source of the distracted unhappiness.]

Yes. He was already dead when I arrived and I didn't notice any suspicious movements around. The killer probably had already escaped.

[Mikami answers smoothly and calmly, not showing any of the spinning thoughts in his head. This was business, this was work.]

[He nods slowly, still crouched next to Jake's body.]

From the video feed just before he was attacked, he was nervous - but he's armed and doesn't seem to have had a chance to reach for his weapons even; it was an ambush attack - and it looks like someone else was here ahead of you... he'd had a hat - the way the bloodstains scuffed, the marks had already been made and some of the smaller spots had dried... I'd guess it may've been someone who knew him, if the hat was something of sentimental importance, and that they probably went to pursue the killer, who ...hasn't left any signs behind...

[He gets up, walking a bit down the hallway in a direction that would've been behind Jake when he was attacked, a penlight running over the floor...]

There's a few smudges with a bit of blood rubbed off on the floor - the killer walked away this direction and ...

[He frowns, scowling.] And it just stops and disappears about here. [He traces a line with the light across the point in the hallway where the minor signs stop, then rakes the light up the walls, and across the ceiling, studying them.]

[Alright the voice sounded familiar and the video tagged with the same instance. He sighs. Another murderer.

How interesting it pops up the same time that he had been talking to detectives and learned of one.]
