[ There's a slightly raised eyebrow that Misa can't see from her end of the conversation. This is the irrefutable proof that the Manor is a dimension separate from time. It fits in with a few observations Light himself has made. The lack of bodily changes during his unwanted month of slumber for one, but that's an answer to a very minor point of contention. The bigger picture now, is to figure out if there is a way to keep these oddly gained memories at all. Mello and Near are obviously both out to challenge Light's grasp on the world when he returns, presumably around 2010, if Near was to be believed, and there's no way he's about to lose what advantage being present at the Manor actually gives him.

The watch could be one way to do it. He had been wearing it when he had disappeared from his world, so that would undoubtedly still be on his person, along with the scrap of Note hidden inside it.

He pulls at the knob three times in quick succession to examine the hidden compartment. He could write Mello's real name on it, but without his face, it would amount to nothing. What's more important is to find a way to preserve his knowledge of the events that will transpire in his future. The scrap is too small for that, leaving the Death Note itself as his best option. If the Death Note here, is essentially the same Death Note as the one he had picked up from the sand back home, much like he is the same person here, as he is there, then the possibility that the message he leaves himself in the Note-- small, but worth a chance.

Nothing changed? You're sure of that? Including your clothing? You found yourself wearing the same clothes as you did prior to arriving at the Manor?

[ A pause. ]

Misa, where are you right now? I want to see you. [ Or more specifically her Death Note, but that's not something Misa needs to know explicitly. ]
