Mary Winchester | 04 | [In Person]
[She couldn't sleep. She hadn't slept properly since she'd arrived...aside from the times John would stay at a motel after their fights, she hadn't slept alone since she was eighteen. Pulling the housecoat tighter around herself, she walked silently through the dark halls. It had become almost ritual to do this at night, walk herself until she was about ready to collapse...it was this or stare at the walls, cried out but unable to rest.
Not caring about where she went, Mary soon found herself staring into the gym. Taking a breath, she stepped inside, a small step for most, but a big one for her. It wouldn't kill her to have a look around, it wasn't like she was doing anything else anyway.
Sitting on the mat, she looked around. Ever since that guard beat the crap out of her, she'd thought about coming here and making herself useful again...she was hesitant though. Part of her wanted to build herself back up like she used to be, to not have to sit back and watch those she loves fight alone, it was beaten down by her other half though. The one that longed for that normalcy she had been denied as a child.
Sighing, she buried her face in her hands. She didn't know what to do. She'd fought so hard to escape having to fight monsters...but was just going to sit back and watch people being slaughtered and beaten when she could have done something to save them?]
...Why am I even here...

[Some of the machines here, she didn't have a prayer on using. The newer devices, she'd never even dreamed of using, the technology simply too odd for her to attempt. Sighing softly, she reached up to pull the coat around her shoulders.]
Thinking about how useless I am...[Okay, that wasn't what she meant to say.]

[That last statement of hers catches him by surprise.]
Surely that is just nonsense brought on by being trapped here for too long. A lack of an ability to defend oneself hardly translates to being useless.

[Chuckling softly at his words, she can't help but notice the irony. She wasn't a hapless woman like most of the other females here...she used to be capable of keeping up with the best of men.]
It's not lack of ability, I'm more than capable of defending myself and others, I just left that behind me years ago and haven't even really picked up a weapon or trained since. [Why was she telling him this? She didn't even really trust him and she was willing to spill the beans on the family curse...]

Hm... perhaps I could be of assistance? What sort of weapon are you accustomed to using? I may not be well-versed in muskets and the like, however I will admit I am skilled with a sword.
[Being a bit modest there. He has been haled as the greatest swordsman in France for his time]

I used a shotgun during the zombie plot, I just don't know if I want to actively take up a weapon again. For years all I wanted was for it to stop...

[He never could get the hang of those things. He lets out a bit of a chuckle]
I'm afraid I cannot help you with those, but if you're looking for a sparring partner with a sword I would be glad to be of assistance. At the very least it would be good for the most dangerous plots, even if you do not take it up again permanently.

[They shouldn't have to look out for her. Hell, it should be the other way around...she just had next to no hope of keeping up with them at this point in time.]
Just...I'd prefer it if no one knew. They can't know.
