Hello? [Fran sat up, taking in the area where she now found herself. Being surrounded by trees wasn't particularly alarming to her, but this was not where she recalled having fallen asleep.

She tilted her head slightly, as if listening for something. But nothing answered. There was no responding hume voice and the Woods were as silent as they had been to her for many years now. There is another moment spent in silence before she takes note of the communication device in the grass next to her.

The viera reaches out, curiously tapping the screen with a long fingernail that's more like a claw before picking the device up and turning it in her hands.] What manner of technology is this?

[The question was thoughtful, musing in a way that suggested she didn't expect an answer. When she stops turning the device, focusing on what appears to be the screen, a tanned woman with white hair and bunny ears comes into view. She appears to be wearing some sort of ornate leather helmet and her eyes are narrowed as she looked the screen over.]

Bunny? [Fran took a moment to stare at the girl. She didn't think that Chidori intended to be rude or insulting, but that didn't keep her from bristling inwardly. Her face, however, appeared to remain passive to anybody who didn't know her well.] Viera and bunnies, they are not the same.

I'm Fran. [Halloween was another concept that she wasn't familiar with, but that curiosity could keep until later. There were more pressing matters.] What is this place?

[ No. She doesn't mean to be rue and insulting at all. ]

Fran? Okay. Fran can call me Chidori!

...this? Oh! We are in a mansion somewhere in another universe. Weird, huh?

A mansion in a different universe? And what of these Woods? [She doesn't comment on the weirdness factor, because many odd things exist in the world. And even if this is another world, Fran has yet to encounter anything that quite quantifies it as "weird" aside from the fact that she's here at all.]

That is what Chidori is told.

[ Pause. ] I can't answer a lot ... I am new like you.

I see. [She pauses for a moment, considering. If Chidori is unable to tell her much, it would be best to seek out someone who could. But there are still a few questions that the hume might be able to answer.]

There was, before waking here, a hume that I was with. Do you know if he might be here as well?

[ She figures that hume must mean human, since she also called her that earlier. So, she shakes her head. ]

Nope. I only saw you alone.

But if he's here --- I'm sure you will find him. He might even find you. This video is shown to everyone here after all.

[Fran lowers her gaze slightly for a moment. That Balthier was not here with her could mean nothing good. The sky pirate was capable of looking after himself, but she wasn't fond of being separated from him. Especially if it was unexpected and involuntary.]

Perhaps he is about, then.

[ She nods. If Fran's friends were around, she was really really lucky. Chidori was pretty much without anyone from her world. ]

Mnnmm! Does Fran need help looking for her friend?

[She doesn't require help, but if Chidori had seen Balthier here that knowledge would be helpful. Otherwise she could find him on her own.]

Perhaps you would have seen him, were he here. He is tall... for a hume. And would call himself "Balthier."

Mnmmm... [ After a few moments, she shook her head. She hadn't been here long --- and none of the people she met was called Balthier. ]
