[A small delay and then coherency! ...Kind of.]
thlfjwritingamessage*&!
[Then suddenly a confused, young, kind of feminine looking boy with long brown hair, and a purple kimono appears on the network. Between words the epic button mashing is still going on. Kenji clearly has no idea what a phone is, or that he's even broadcasting a message.]
-purpose of this thing?
[After giving the Blackberry one final mystified look, Kenji decides to fling the thing over his shoulder. Manorites, you now have an exquisite view of Kenji's floor. Readying his katana, he opens the door. The hallway may be empty, but Kenji doesn't drop his guard, even for a single moment. Wherever he is right now, it's too unfamiliar for him to relax. Shifting his weight slightly, he begins walking out stealthily into the hall.]
((Just a quick note of warning that if you're meeting Kenji in person, he may draw the katana on your character. He won't be aiming to injure or anything, but he is tetchy and wants answers.))

It's for communication and therefore might I suggest you actually look at it?
I think it'd help matters a great deal. I take it, you're new to this place?
Who are you? Why have you brought me here?
[His voice is demanding. He won't show any signs of fear here.]
I'm just being held hostage here as well.
The person who brought you here will probably not talk to you at all, she rarely communicates with us.
Also I'd think it would be rather nice of you to pick the device up, a face to face conversation is only just a little nicer than this pretty image of the floor.
She?
[Yeah, that phone is staying on the floor and is getting the dirtiest of dirty looks.]
For being our host, she is quite rude, I have to say.
[Ryuutaro is not happy with the position of the Blackberry, but it's not like he could do anything about it as it was now. And he wouldn't get low enough to whine about it again]
You aren't one to speak.
[Though he does take another step closer to the discarded Blackberry. He's never heard of anything that could transmit sound like this before. There had to be some kind of trick...]
You still haven't told me your name.
[The irony stays in his voice, but at least it's not painfully obvious anymore. He doesn't have a real problem with Kenji after all, just with the world in general as it was now]
I'm Fukami Ryuutaro, with whom do I have the pleasure?
Himura Kenji. A student of Kamiya Kasshin Ryu. [The tone is flat. Totally flat. Grudging almost. He can return pleasantries and such when they're extended to him. He gives the device a quick poke with the end of the katana.]
Give me one reason why I should believe anything you say.
Mostly because I can humbly claim I'm right. Over long you'll have no choice but to accept fa- ... [He pauses. No, he doesn't want to say the word again. Fate had done too horrible things] accept it.
Every resident of this place will tell you the exact same story. And it'll be proven once you've been here for a bit.
Where is this?
Because of that it's hard to tell a definite location of this place, it's probably a whole own world for itself.
...This isn't Japan, or the continent?
[And now he'll pick up the phone keeping the camera pointed on the floor, if only to confirm the fact that there aren't any secret wires connected to the device. How was this even possible? Technology required cables.]
I'd give a lot to be back in Japan.
[And that's the truth. He really misses his country just so much.]
I'm sorry, but no, I have never heard of him.
As for how this is possible; we're not sure. Magic seems to be the only solution at this point.
[Video] ...and here i thought kenji was going to be less tl;dr >_o
What of Myojin Yahiko? [A noticeable pause.] Kamiya Kaoru? [He feels infantile asking for his mother. He scowls as he says her name. He leaves out Kenshin's name. It's meaningless to him whether or not he is here.]
...If none of these names are familiar then, is there a way home?
[Video] Pffft, every character can tl;dr XD
It was being lost, being trapped, an awful feeling.
While Ryuutaro certainly wasn't the nicest guy around, he'd become better over time. Still uncaring for other people's smaller feelings, but at least willing to partly pretend it wasn't like this.]
None of these people are here. As for the way home... It's not a path we could willingly walk. As it is now, the only people to leave didn't do so on their own accord and instead were sent home by the Author, which is about the same as arriving here.
It seems to happen at random. I've been here since last spring - now it's obviously winter - and during this period a lot of people left and arrived.
Some stayed for all the time and have already been here much longer than I have.
It seems that the length of our presence in this place is not our choice at all.
[Video] 1/2
So we're trapped here. [Why is this so familiar?]
[Scowling again as he finally turns the Blackberry right side up to have something to do with his hands.]
2/2
[Aaaaand here he is. Staring, because what the hell is video even.]
no subject
That appears to be the case.
[And this look... looks terribly like Kenji had no clue how this happened. It'd match with his first words and the doujo-thing.. So maybe...]
May I ask what year it has been in your Japan?
no subject
But how...?
[What is Fukami even supposed to be?! Kenji can't help but stare even harder; he's never seen anyone quite like this before. Much less a male.]
What kind of trick is—
[There are definitely no wires. Could this really be possible? And then a quick realization.]
—Am I also visible to you?
no subject
Indeed, I can see see you just as clearly as you can see me.
action; do i see the word feminine
He was just about to use the blackberry to ask the network where he was...but if he's going to ask someone where he is, might as well go for a girl(?)~!
Wait, why is she wearing a kimono in the 21st century? Was it already coming of age day? ...or was it cosplay? Probably cosplay, seeing the katana.
asdflg; Anyways, hmm, how could he start the conversation off on a good foot?
Kida notices the blackberry on the ground. Even if it wasn't actually the girl's phone, it was his perfect excuse to start up a conversation!
and possibly get "her" number while he's at itKida approaches Kenji and taps his shoulder, putting his best smile on his face.]]Hey there beautiful~ I think you dropped this back there!
action; POSSIBLY. 1/2
2/2 (Also sorry for the delete. I am incapable of functioning w/o edit mode)
Who do you think you're talking to?
[No, his voice doesn't make him any more of a convincing male.]
action; [1] i do not have an appropriate icon for this
action; [2] btw sorry for being slow on weekdays /sobbu
action; [3] done o7
. . . W a i t.
Was this girl really a ... girl?]]
[[ He squints even more, then finally he says]]
Woah, woah, woah. Hold on a second. Uh... are you a... guy?
[[ AWKWARDAWKWARDAWKWARD]]
action; :3
Who are you?!
action; meow i don't like fancy html
The name is Kida. Sorry for mistaking you for a chick for a second there, man. You look a lot like my ...uhm.. best friend who's a girl from the back. So mind putting your katana down and telling me where I am?
action; petpet
Kenji. Himura Kenji, and where I'm from, it's common courtesy to extend a full name. [Haughty tone is haughty.] If I knew where this was, I wouldn't still be here. Someone else told me this is a different world. [An explanation that is becoming increasingly plausible looking at Kida's hair, and style of weird clothing.] Now that I've answered your question, I trust you'll be kind enough to answer mine.
What is that. [Gesturing at the Blackberry.]
action;
hahahaha ... Masaomi Kida.
[[ Kida's almost laughing a bit from "a different world" and how technologically ... illiterate one has to be to not be able to work a cellphone.]]
Dude, have you been living in a hole your whole life? That guy was obviously joking around with you! I mean, come on, "a different world"? Also, it's the 21st century. How do you not know what a cellphone is when you see one?
action; 1/2
You mean this isn't the twenty sixth year of Meiji?
[It explains so much, and yet so little. He actually has to take a step back, and flicks his eyes around the house once more. The architecture doesn't look anything like what he's used to at home, but he'd assumed that perhaps he'd been brought to the west. Not... the future.
[If Kida's up on his history, Meiji 26 = 1893.]
2/2
Don't kid around.
[False hope if anything. The "cellphone" doesn't look familiar to him at all, and would support the... 21st century theory as much as he doesn't feel okay with it. He'd barely accepted the new world theory...]
That isn't possible.
[Grudgingly, quietly and with a damning upward inflection on the end of the word to indicate his complete ignorance on the subject.] ....cellphone...?
action;
This is the 21st century, man. If you're going to pretend that you're from the 26th year of Meiji, you should at least know that swords are banned during that time dude!
[[ but then again, he did seem to genuinely not know what a cellphone is or how one works ...]]
Here, a cellphone is a ... thing you use to talk with other people. [[ Insert detailed description filled with "dude"s and "man"s on how to use phone here. ]] You got that?
action; would you really do something to hurt this little girl? :(
And maybe she should have followed that instinct ... even though the guy was kind of cute. Pretty even.
She sighed and walked closer to Kenji and taps him on the shoulder. She gives a smile and friendly salute to show him that she came in peace. ]
Hey! Do you need help with that?!
action; lol kenji has strange opinions about girls.
You live here.
[It's an accusation rather than a question.]
action
[ She pouts and crosses her arms. Chidori doesn't get it why he was acting like it was all her fault. After all, she was just being nice. She wanted to go home as much as the next person. ]
And Chidori didn't always live here! She was brought here too. Like you did.
action
That's not possible. There weren't any little girls around the place I was staying.
[Could this be what Fukami meant by other worlds? The pieces are starting to click, but Kenji isn't sure just yet. He gives her a suspicious look. Time to test Fukami's merits.]
Unless you're also going to tell me something about a writer?
action
Oh! So you know already?
[ Suddenly, she pokes him on the chest. A little girl? He thought she was a little girl --- when he looked like a girl himself? ]
Hey! Chidori is not a little girl. I'm a teenager!
action
