[ This is not her Nippon.
But that doesn't change the fact that Amaterasu feels both at home and overwhelmed by the unfamiliarity of the new location that the Author has sent them to.
Since their arrival to Kyoto, she's been traversing the city, ears perked and eyes bright. The fact that the NPCs pay her no mind doesn't bother her, considering a good number of the people she'd met in the past didn't find anything strange about a white wolf moving through their streets. Interesting, perhaps, but not strange so long as she didn't cause any trouble.
It doesn't take much for her to understand what time of year it is, with all the decorations and the festive air around the city. So she seeks out the shrines, a couple a day, to pay her respects to this Nippon's gods and spirits. After all, she may be displaced, but that doesn't change the fact that she is a guest here.
So she can be seen (as a mere white wolf to those without a spiritual sense/belief in the gods/etc, or marked in red and black with her swirling Reflector over her back to those with the ability/belief) running about, carrying in her mouth various trinkets and treats to leave at shrines. ]

That is until he spots something rather peculiar. The self-proclaimed mystery hunter quickly shoved his way through the crowd to get a load of a big-ass white wolf just moseying it's way through the city. He stalked it for a while as it visited all the shrines to leave it's trinkets. This was more than just a wolf! So eventually he made himself known by approaching the creature... very slowly as it was at one of the shrines. Now what to do to make peace with it? Food maybe?
He reached into his pocket to find out what he had in it to offer the creature. A box of cigarettes, his wallet, dynamite... and ah! A candy bar! That should do it! He unwraps the the little treat and bends over a bit to be more on the same level as the Unidentified Mysterious Animal, and holds out the treat in offering]
Hello, my name is Hayato Gokudera! I come in peace.
[Unfortunately, while Gokudera eagerly believed in the super natural his faith in any kind of god had been more or less shattered by his upbringing (or lack there of). So in his best estimate this wolf could perhaps be an alien life form in disguise to gain information on earth!]

That, of course, doesn't change the fact she is indeed an Unidentified Mystery Animal. Amaterasu can sense that there's someone following her, but she doesn't feel any danger with the presence, so she simply continues about her business. Between shrines, she returns to the city proper to find goodie bags, though doesn't seem to stray too far into the hustle and bustle. Vehicles and assorted technology, despite the actual alien technology she's seen and interacted with, make her feel uneasy.
After another stop into a shrine, when Gokudera finally approaches her with his candy bar, she flicks her ears up and looks curiously at him. What a funny way to introduce yourself! But she does approach him, sniffing curiously at the odd foodstuff he holds out.
And then, with a little whuff and slight tailwag in greeting, she carefully takes it from his fingers to avoid biting them. ]

Maybe it could teach him to communicate with other alien life forms! He could get other UMA's to join the Vongola!]

She wouldn't be against pets at all, but this seems like a reaction he might appreciate more than her licking his fingers. ]

And if this keeps up he may just need to change his pants]It's very nice to meet you!
[He shakes the wolf's paw firmly.]
What's your name?

She lets him shake her paw, and then cocks her head with the question. Withdrawing from the paw/hand shake, she takes a couple steps back before turning a little away from him. Her tail flicks again, but this time, it's to write on the ground with the brush-like tip. ]

Just give him a moment.
