[Mello is carrying a tray of food upstairs to the bedroom he shares with Matt. The redhead is still asleep in their room. He also has a bowl of cereal for himself (cocoa crispies, because Mello is an adult.)]

[For him to dip his toast into. Because...well, it's Matt.

He puts his cigarette out on the nightstand, glancing over at Mello almost shyly.]

I'll live.

Right. Pain in my ass.

[Mello puts the tray on his lap and takes his cereal]

This is the kinkiest form of combat I've ever seen.

[He's talking about Spell Battles and their chains]

[Matt smirks a little as he takes his tray, but that smirk soon vanishes.]

Yeah...

[He trails off and tears the crust of his toast to dip it. And dip it. And dip it again. Maybe he doesn't have much of an appetite after all.]

Sorry.

Not hungry?

[He looks up from his own bowl. But he knows better than that]

Or is something wrong?

[Matt shakes his head before finally eating his...yolk toast.]

Just wish I could be a stronger sacrifice.

[Mello raises his eyebrows at him]

Are you kidding?

[Matt cuts an egg in half and shoves it into his mouth.

He's not laughing.]

I didn't mean it to sound like that.

[Mello looks a little sheepish before saying]

You're the best damn Sacrifice in this place. That's why I asked if you were kidding, because it's obvious that you're the best.

[Matt smiles a bit at that, but it's still a little bitter.]

...Never been the best at anything.

[He finishes off the first fried egg.]

Except Donkey Kong.

That's my line. [And although he sounds like he's joking...]

[When that doesn't work Mello puts his arm around him]

We made it this far, that counts for something.

[And when they lose, they lose together.]

Enough to get me breakfast, anyway.

[Matt grins, gives Mello a little nudge with his shoulder.]

Let's see if we can take it all the way. Oh wait, that's what you said to me the night you left Wammy's.

[Snickers, glad to see Matt's feeling a bit better]

Yeah, we might just be able to win this. We can take it all, to borrow another phrase from that night.

[He takes a bite of cereal and says through a full mouth]

If you replace "we" with "you."

Yeah. Doubt this is gonna be as fun though.

Might be something though, might be fun to win for once.
