Pripyat, day 3 -- Robin -- [In person]
[It was already getting dark, and Robin had not only managed to get herself lost, but also regretted not falling asleep at the Manor in her overcoat. Russian weather was hardly desirable, espeically when you're only wearing 1 layer. Instinctively, she went for her blakcberry, but soon remembered she longer had it. As the wind picked up, she ducks into the nearest building, sinking down the wall to the floor with lack of energy. After several minutes of shivering violently from the cold, Robin had to force herself to get back up, and look for materials to burn. Since she had stumbled into what appeared to be a school, material wasn't hard to find. One or two smashed chairs, and a pile of books later, and anyone who's passing will see signs of a fire.
A while passed, before, despite her better judgment, the young girl eventually fell asleep, only to be woken suddenly about an hour later by the strangest of noises. It sounded like some kind of animal, and as she got to her feet to investigate, a creature of some description suddenly burst through the door, and skidded to a halt a few feet away. Out of fright, Robin's craft sent shoots of flame at her small guest..]
((ooc: Yeah...Jack's pig..just..yeeah...I blame you, Purple =] ))
XDDD Oh I love him 10x more now
..I guess - I'm sorry, I thought--
[Whe she realizes just how he's being funny, her expression changes and she rolls her eyes playfully, before smirking]
You shouldn't make jokes like that..
[Glancing back at the pig..]
..is it wrong I suddenly want bacon now..?
He's so wonderfully humorous when he let's himself go. XD
[He chuckles and grins looking back at the pig, then back to Robin with a smirk.]
Uh, I don't think it was prepared for consumption, so maybe some other time. I didn't bring my spit.
I see that~ =D
You didn't have to follow me out here you know..it looks like a storms coming, you should have stayed inside
no subject
I could have but I didn't. Maybe I was curious the same as you.
[He clears his throat.]
Still, it could be worse. Are you intending to stay in the rain?
Just checked - they're inside a school building =]
Fair enough..it's not like there's a lot of things to do here
Woohoo!
I wouldn't know about that.
[He moves to look for anything that they could use which could range from books, even thought they're in Russian he could teach her the language at least some, and materials to build something with.
He gathers these things and dumps them in a pile. He tosses some things into the fire while others he sets aside.]
I'm thinking that since I'm probably going to run out of ammo before too long, making a snare trap would work in catching some fresh meat. The deer migration is coming soon and I want to get one before I miss it.
[He takes one of the chairs and slams it against the wall which causes the wood to splinter and break into sharp points.]
no subject
Well that depends on how many people or animals you intend to shoot..I mean, there're food stores here, and even if you did manage to kill one of the deer, one alone would last several days.
[She glances at her hands momentarily]
I noticed you're carrying a lot of weapons on you..but I doubt you'll need all of them-
[She wasn't quite expecting him to hit the chair against the wall so suddenly, so she jumped a little at that]
no subject
[He thought about the possibility that someone else was just as armed but he certainly didn't want to bring that up now. Ever since he heard that Mello killed someone, he didn't want to chance not being armed.]
no subject
But the odds are that, if they've been in the area affected by radiation, then they will be..
[She smiles]
I guess, while there's a food store, there's no need
no subject
[He put the wood to the fire instead to keep it going instead of using it for a trap. He started looking for blankets or anything else that was around to use as shield against the cold.]
no subject
As she waited for him, she brought her knee's up under her chin, and watched the flames through emerald eyes]
no subject
This should help.
[Being an insomniac due to his pressing job and old habits, 5 hours is what he really needed to keep himself going. He hands one of the blankets to Robin.]
no subject
[She takes the one being handed to her and wraps it around her shoulders, the heat from the fire causing her eyes to feel a little heavy. She gently shakes her head, as if to stop the growing fatigue from making her fall asleep. That would just be embarassing.]
How long do you think The Author will keep us around? It hasn't been that long, but it feels like I've been here for years
no subject
According to the pattern, I would say about two weeks. Either way, it feels much longer, I'll conceded to that.
[He tried to keep his opinions to himself and kept his mind on the matter at hand.]
You seem tired. Get some rest. I'll keep watch.
My inner atheist is tingling 6_6
It'd be pretty mundane, getting sent back after experiencing all these places and events. But I guess we're under her jurisdiction till further notice
[It was strange for Robin, having to believe that God had this planned out for each of the residents, but she kept that to herself. She didn't know all that much about Sheldon, including his religious beliefs. However, she figured he didn't hold any, or at least kept them under wraps.
She shakes her head and looks at him briefly]
No, I'm alright - just a little dozy is all..that's a point..I wonder what the time is..
[Since being at the Manor, time had practically dissipated]
I know what you mean.
12:59.
[He was a devout Catholic but he never openly practiced. He knew the Bible forwards and backwards which made him formidable spiritually as well as physically and mentally. He was balanced. He had firm beliefs that people needed a means to balance themselves instead of forced which made them stronger on their own.
He viewed life and everything that goes along with it like a bridge. If it's maintained, that bridge would stand strong. If it was neglected, the bridge would fall. He neglected his loving nature for far too long and meeting Robin put it back into the prospective that he needed it to maintain his balance. It was whether or not that he would act upon it that is yet to be seen.]
Still, I wonder just how far she's willing to carry this shit out before she fails in her guarded secret.
I didn't see the Catholic thing coming at all o_o He's full of surprises =]
[She pulls the blanket around her shoulders a little tighter]
Everyone has their secrets, their skeletons in their closets - and those are only for that person and God to know.
Isn't he? The funny thing is, he hides it very well.
[His gloved hands gripped the ends of the material. His face didn't show any outward signs of discomfort despite the cold.]
I used to think that everything was in it's proper place and there were a select few that were given the task as caretakers. It' looks like the majority abused that and the few that were sent to guard are being whittled down one by one.
Indeed~
Caretakers..? But, who decides who was sent here to guard? I mean, surely it depends on which side you're playing for, and even then your views on who's the good guy will be biased. I know I was for a long time
no subject
Life and death is not by our own judgment alone. That should be decided according to the actions of the one committing the reprimand who should be comfortable carrying out the task without question.
[He tries to put it together the best he can but he's finding the words difficult to express without sounding over zealous.]
no subject
When you put it like that, it does fit together well. I think that some people can be put here to do that job, but don't necessarily know it themselves..
[As she thinks on how to expand her point, she hesitantly pulls her hands out of the warmth of the blanket and quickly pulls her hair out of it's bindings, consequently keeping her neck warm]
..but I'm sure even if they were told what their purpose was, a lot of them wouldn't follow it through
no subject
[He looks to the fire and nods.]
It's true that many people don't entirely understand their situations to embrace their futures effectively.
[He tosses a stray piece of wood into the fire.]
My father was a Marine. My grandfather was a Cherokee medicine man. Both are heavy in tradition and I could have been both but neither was the path that was chosen for me by God. I didn't discover it on my own. It was presented to me with the label "opportunity". I could have embraced my grandfather's religion and stayed a heathen but I didn't. I saw the world through the eyes of a child and saw a broken down fort instead of a perfect world....if there ever is such a thing.
We're given the simple task of going forth to prosper by God. Yet God needs people to protect that prosperity. Crusaders did it through control and war. That didn't do us much good and we destroyed the temple twice in the process. How is that protection?
My inner philosopher is creeping out here ^ ^;;
The thought of her eventual execution made her grow a little pale, but she tried to shake it off]
I've always thought that perfection was subjective to everyone..to me, perfection will never be within humanities grasp.
[She watches the flames and embers spark and crackle as the new pieve of kindling was thrown onto the fire]
Are you familiar with Plato's forms..?
Ooh, this could get interesting.
Perfection is subjective which is why wars are waged. When anyone decides that their ideas of perfection is compromised, a defense is raised and the offending culprit that doesn't meet a person's perfect standards often will eliminate or cut away the imperfection. I don't believe in it. Perfection shouldn't be sought here. It's not possible to achieve something that isn't given to us.
[He smiles and looks at Robin as he answered the second part of her question.]
I've never been one with philosophical standards.
[The smirk was certainly a tale tell sign that he knew a lot more than he let on.]
I'm interested in hearing it.
Indeed XD
[She thinks for a moment of an example]
So.. For example, say there's a triangle drawn on a blackboard..
[She draws a triangle out in the air with both hands, as if she's enacting out what she's saying]
The triangle as it is on the blackboard is far from perfect. However, it is only the intelligibility of the Form "triangle" that allows us to know the drawing on the chalkboard is a triangle, and the Form "triangle" is perfect and unchanging. It is exactly the same whenever anyone chooses to consider it.
[She smiles at her own explanation]
So, there's a form for perfection, but since they're beyond Earth and Heaven and are unreachable by any means, Humanity can only dream of reaching that state of flawlessness.
