[Mamimi is bundled up and breathing harshly through her aching lungs. She's sitting close to the fire, so close it's almost as if she's considering touching it. But for the first time in hours she's pulled her gaze away from the fire and is looking intently on her lighter. Her gloved fingers are slipping clumsily over the Zippo but it will not ignite. It's not the fault of her gloves, the internal mechanism has frozen solid. However, Mamimi is not about to give up. Unlit cigarette between her lips, she holds the lighter at nose height so she has to cross her eyes to watch it as it clicks, sputters, and fails]

[He's heard of people catching pneumonia from the cold. He's heard many stories and only knew of one way to ease the pain. He rummaged through the contents of the box with the items he found and found some peppermint oil, some apple cider vinegar and salt in a kettle. He mixed up the contents and handed over the concoction to Mamimi in a cup.]

It tastes something terrible but it should help as long as you drink it down hot.

We called it swill. It doesn't taste great but it will break up the stuff in your chest to help you. It will make you cough so be ready.

[He took a drink of his own and coughed.]

Blah...mother's remedies were awful stuff but it works.

Not at all otherwise I wouldn't be drinking the swill myself, eh? It's supposed to make you cough what gunk is there. The Catholics don't like it and that's good enough for me.

Ever heard of consumption? If you don't cough, that's what'll happen. Coughing means you're breathing and breathing is what you need since you're not a fish that breathes water from the side of you're face. My mum once said "...if the lungs hurt, that's bad so cough it up so it don't."
