Twenty Fourth entry ☼ Elizabeth ☼ So far so good..[In person]
[For anyone wandering about, they might bump into Elizabeth as she's descending the staircase. She was busy thinking about her Mother, or rather, the ghost that she'd been putting up with all of last week. As spiteful as she had been, it had also been a great pleasure and privelege for Elizabeth for her to finally meet the woman she'd only heard cruel stories about. Either way, the secret Anne had told her late last night also had her mind distracted.
But, she was pleased that, so far, nothing seemed out of the ordinary..]
[In Person]
He pulled himself off the floor and put his hand to his face, using the other hand to brace himself with the wall. The pain was excruciating. Dead pale, Ichabod has seen better days.
He reached the stairs. His eyes began to burn from the light that was pouring in from the outside. Maybe the curse was taking hold of him and he was dying. He had so much to live for. There was Elizabeth that he had to think about. His skin was cold, his eyes hurt from the light, he was becoming desperate. With each step he took, the more he wanted to drop and just go to sleep. Then he saw Elizabeth's form. He only hoped that whatever was happening to him would pass as soon as he could satiate this hunger....]
Elizabeth.....
[He drops to his knees, his voice scarcely above a whisper.]
[In Person]
When she saw Ichabod was the source, she quickened her pace, and dropped down in front of him, tilting his face up with her fingertips. He felt unnaturally cold..]
Ichabod! Are you alright? What's wrong?
[In Person]
[His once brown eyes appeared unnaturally darker with the light nearly gone out of them. The warmth of her hand sent a pulse throughout his body and into his mind that told the beast within that human blood was needed to stave the Thirst.]
....human no longer.
[In Person]
..What are you saying?..of course you're human, you're just ill, that's all
[In Person]
[He gulps down but his throat is very dry, causing his voice to sound very hoarse and near chilling. He felt her hand pull away. It was the only feeling he had that resembled his previous state as a person. He knew he wasn't himself. He had no pulse yet he was walking.
He didn't need to breathe. He didn't feel heat or cold. A walking corpse that required life's blood, his rational mind was slowly being pushed aside and it was frightening.]
Please....stay away from me. I fear...I would do the most regrettable....to sustain.
[His hand touched the shoulder of the months old wound from the blade of the Hessian which seeing his ghost previously only was a sign that his troubles would never be over.
His breathing sounded wheezy and strained. He was fighting the urge to feed on the one woman he loved most in this terrible place and he ached.]
[In Person]
What is it that you need? Please, I want to help you
[In Person]
The beast within wanted to take what was presented to him. This was not the sort of thing that Ichabod was prepared for and it hurt to fight.]
I need....blood.
[His rational mind was barely hanging on.]
[In Person]
And how she could help.
Pushing the velvet and satin material of her sleeve up her left arm, trembling a little, she held her wrist out to him]
Take mine.
[Although the idea scared her, she trusted him, and more than anything she wanted to alleviate his suffering]
[In Person]
He saw her arm shake. He took her hand in his. His cold fingers pressed against her warm flesh, he leaned his head toward her wrist. As much as he hated the idea of doing this, he took only enough to calm his thirst.
His color started to return yet he was still very pale. Now instead of desperation holding him in place, his mobility became much more fluid as he reached up to touch her cheek.]
I'm sorry, my love.
[His expression turned from pained to concerned and embarrassed. His voice wasn't as hoarse just moments ago.]
[In Person]
When he pulled away, she quickly placed her other hand over the twin wounds, as they continued to bleed.
She noticed the change in his tone, and was glad that he felt better. She however, didn't feel as well as she had before. But, she told herself she'd be fine momentarily, and gave him a reassuring smile]
Don't be ridiculous, it's not your fault. You have nothing to apologise for.
[In Person]
As if in a move to comfort, he kissed the wounds and hoped that she wouldn't have to suffer his fate. His rational mind has returned, the wheezing has stopped. He didn't know the extent of what has been happening to him other than what the Beast instinctively tells him.]
The body requires iron to produce blood. Since I have taken from you, the best course is to replenish yourself. The Author....has made me into a vile creature....a parasite. Spare me no mercy should I lose my rational mind and become a beast.
[In Person]
The body needs iron..? What do you mean?
[Yeah, nutrition is kinda lost on her ^^;;]
[In Person]
I have read once, since the same creatures that I have become began to enter the Manor as residents, that a mineral such as iron can be supplemented as pills to sustain the body. This same mineral is also found in broccoli and spinach.
[He held out his hand for her to take just in case she needed it.]
[In Person]
She accepts his hand gratefully]
I'll have to take your word for it - I've never known food to do anything other than satisfy hunger
[In Person]
[He seems to be back to normal now personality wise though still very much vampiric by physiology. The bright light seems to bother him and with the lack of need to sleep, he'll have to find another method to rest.]
Ah, another note of interest that I have come to realize that I am no longer human is the coffin in my room replacing the bed. A rather disturbing thought by the very nature of the chapters the Author intends to write.
[He looks over his shoulder slightly and tries to manage a smile without showing his elongated canines.]
[In Person]
A..coffin? How..grim..
[For lack of a better word. But, despite this apparent obstacle, Elizabeth was glad to see Ichabod again - they hadn't seen much of each other over the past week or so, and she was glad she was now.
She notices his fangs, but doesn't comment on them - she still wasn't entirely sure what the Author was thinking, but it wasn;t her place to judge the effects of her plots. He was still him, regardless of what the Author did to him]
[In Person]
I must have been relatively wealthy when I transversed from one to the other.
[He slowly walked with her to the kitchen and has remained relatively objective and slightly now fascinated with his current physical state. He let out a yelp when his foot lightly passed through the sun's rays that spilled through the main hall.]
Ow!
[He looked down to see his ankle was smoldering and his eyes widened.]
And a damned creature I have become to be so undeserving of the life-giving sun.
