[Claudia is in the Louvre. She's never seen a place quite like it and has been wandering the halls with fascination since she got here. Now she is paused before this statue taking in its every curve and curl with fascination. There is almost something sad about the look on her face.]

[That's okay, she doesn't know how to deal with people all the time. She pops up in front of him with her hands behind her back, looking up at him with her neck craned. She shrugs]

[The combination of suddenly being behind him and voice-in-his-head gets a startled jump - the last time there was a voice in his head that wasn't his - well, it WAS his own internal-monologue voice turning into someone else's, but it was enough of a Very Bad Thing for him to be a little reflexively jumpy - even if she wasn't threatening.]

I, uh, just woke up here and I don't know where I am or how I got here - last night I was in Eastern Europe and - there's stuff I really shouldn't be this far away from, wherever here is-

[She leans up, taking him in with keen brown eyes.]

[She nods]

[That does cause a bit of self-consciousness - he's well aware of how odd he looks, even though reasonably she's talking in his head and probably doesn't have any reason to react based on that.]

Not usually, I just don't deal with people much, and I don't get many people that will just come up and talk to me like this.

... It's not like it was when I passed through here, either, and the people aren't right.

[She says this a little too happily]

Well, we're in the same boat then, eh? [He gives a sheepish headscratch.] Have you been here long?

[Pause]

[Although this answer for both is identical]

Uh. Either? I've heard there's some manor or something that's where people normally are, but I just got here so all I've seen is Paris. [He is now mildly confused.]

[She nods]

I guess. I keep hearing about it.

So, uh... what've you been up to here?

[A shrug]

[He nods, looking around the museum, and up at the statuary thoughtfully.]

It's amazing, what people've managed to do over the years, isn't it.

[A somewhat sad look]

[And yet there is no mention of her people or their accomplishments in the entire museum.]

... [...That doesn't look good. :/ He looks over to her, worried.]

Is something wrong?

[She shakes her head and gives him a smile]

[...He's not convinced, but...not going to pry.]

It's funny, if you think about it. People talk so much about the horrible things people do, but look at what survives even with all of that.

Yeah. Even with all the wars and everything, if this is what ends up surviving even when things fall apart, that's got to say something, doesn't it?

[She smiles and nods]

[Although her people are absent]

....

Are you sure you're OK?

[There are tears brimming in her eyes]

... [He's stepping a bit closer, and cautiously putting an arm around her-]

What happened?

...[Yeah, he's got an arm around her and is being...very much fussy-protective now.]

I... wonder.

I know a lot of the secret history of my world and ... there were some very nasty conflicts, but I never heard of the "Necromantic Wars" ... if this is a world where it never happened, then maybe the history is different - if we were in a different version of Paris, there probably would be something, depending on how things developed.

[She looks momentarily stunned]
