{5th Collar} Waking up.....[In Person]

[With Ichabod's careful attention, Tom was dressed in a clean, fresh uniform and his body was repaired of any damage done. It was as if he's been asleep but the dream wasn't anywhere near pleasant. He opens his eyes quickly and a sharp gasp escaped his chest. His eyes were filled with terror. He sits up and the sharp psychosomatic pain from the dream made him flinch and fall back on the pillows.]

What.....happened? My mouth....it's so dry.

[He's not sure if there was anyone in the room with him but there was so much going on in his mind that he wasn't sure where to start.]

I mean what I say that I'll look after you as my brother as you look after me. The next time we go on a field trip or whatever the Author calls it, we're definitely hanging out.

[Tom smiles in return.]

This way, when you go out, you're going out in style. That means all the human stuff that you can handle and that includes getting you on a date. I'll fix you up.

I would definitely enjoy that! I've never been in a human city... Well not an inhabited one anyway...

[Dende's cheeks flush deep purple at the mention of a date ~~of course not because he had someone in mind~~]

A-a-a d-date?! M-me?! I-I-I couldn't! I-I mean I look so different! A-and I can't... I mean I don't... my body doesn't work the same and-

[Alright apparently describing how he was asexual in a coherent fashion wasn't going to work, let's just make up an excuse]

I mean... it would be unnatural wouldn't it?

Well, that all depends on you. I know that you're not typical and really being here in the Manor and adjusting to what's new here is really the point, isn't it? I mean, let's face it. What you learn here isn't really going to carry on consciously but it may in a subconscious level, right? It's worth a shot and you don't have to sleep with them. Just learn about them. That's all you gotta do.

Besides, dating is part of learning about social structures, order and how the whole cycle works. It's not so bad. I've been a failure a few times myself. Trust me, it's no easy feat learning about a woman's heart, bro. [He smiles and pats Dende on the arm.]

W-well... there is this one girl...

[Oh he can't believe he's about to say this. His blush darkens and spreads to the tips of his ears, and even begins to fidget with the hem of his vest]

I adore her... but I don't know if it's the same way a human is supposed to feel. Namekians are asexual s-so...I'm not even sure I can feel like that...

[Tom was slightly slack jawed not from the asexual part but because Dende does show an interest in a girl here and that was certainly something to work with.]

No, that's good! Hey, if anything, it'll make you closer friends. Lovers come later. That means that you're showing something that's pretty indicative toward wanting to learn more about this whole thing. So who's the girl?

[He thinks: I should've learned that from my dad when he told me about it the first damn time.]

Her name is Raven, she's very sweet, and very quiet. I've known her since I first arrived here as a child, she watched over me back then, and she still does now.

I think maybe I would like to learn more about this whole 'dating' busines... I had a few friends back home go on about it almost non-stop.

[He chuckles at memories of Gohan and Videl, and now Goten and... whatever girl he could hunt down. He would be lying if he didn't say he wasn't curious about what was so apealing about it]

What do you do on a date? and I'm afraid I don't quite understand what you meant by 'I don't have to sleep with her'... She had already allowed me to spend the night in her room on a few occasion, as I have given her access to mine as well...

[Sure, he knew what sex was... he just didn't quite recognize all the terms for it]

[Tom listens and pulls the covers closer to his chest. He was starting to shiver even under the layers of cloth and blankets covering him. His eyes widened a little at the "non-stop" part which sent up warning bells in his head.]

Oh, well, you go out to dinner or go to a movie that you both like. You talk, ask questions about each other, maybe go a little above and beyond what you would normally do with a friend but it doesn't always have to be sexually orientated.

You know, I think with you, just spending time with her as a friend gave you a foothold. I think she likes you too. Know how I can tell?

[Dende notices Tom shivering and his actions. He pushes himself up from his reclined position and once more puts a comforting arm around his shoulders.]

That sounds quite pleasent. So it's really not too much different from just regular interactions with one another then?

[Oh, now he looks curious... and he's blushing again]

Y-you think? H-how can you tell?

[The shivering was starting to slow but it came in waves of hot and cold as Tom's body was readjusting to being alive again.]

Oh, it's like, if she didn't like you, she wouldn't talk to you. Girls are funny like that sometimes. If she really didn't like you, you wouldn't be allowed to spend the night in her room. She trusts you and that's really important.

Just take it slow. There's no need to rush it all. I've got plenty of experience of what not to do. [sheepish chuckle]

Perhaps maybe we should try to get you walking and moving around? If you feel ready for that of course.

[Dende rubs his back a bit hoping to help warming him up]

R-really? Y-you really think? I just thought it was well... she watched over me as a child... maybe she still saw me as one....

[His joints felt incredibly stiff and tries to move which was something that he needed to do and knew it.]

Well, I think all girls are like that in some way. They like to pamper, I think. It's really okay. It's part of their nature and don't take it wrong either. She'll get used to the idea that you're bigger and much older now and eventually she'll warm up to it. It really all depends on you and how the two of you communicate. Be open with each other. But that's just me.

[He shrugs a little and smiles, moving off to the side of the bed and stands up.]

I really appreciate the help. It's made waking up from the dead much easier than having to do this alone....but I think I said that already.

[Dende gets up himself and stands next to Tom with his arms up, ready to brace him should he trip of fall or anything.]

A-alright... I-I'll ask her the next time I see her. Any advice?

[Dende smiles, genuinly glad to here him say that, as it was his intention to make it easier]

I'm glad to help. I truly am. I couldn't think of anyone who deserved such a fate less then you.

Well, there's going to always be that one time that's not meant to happen but it does. I'm not sure why it happened but I couldn't stop it either. It kinda put into prospective for me that I don't think I'll be afraid of it should it happen again.

[He seemed better a dealing with it than before but it still bothered him to know why and who. The words still rang in his mind. "Sorry, kid."]

I...don't know but it feels kinda surreal, you know?

[His thoughts snap back to the dating.]

Oh! Yeah, just be yourself. Don't force yourself to try to play up something that she's not sure what to take. I'm sure she'll like you regardless.

Trust me, if there's anything I know... it that.

[Dende closes his eyes and muses on it]

Like it was a dream. Like it happened to some distant other you. Or even that waking up was a dream, and at any moment you're just going to 'wake up' and realize that once again you're in the relm of the dead? It's dizzying isn't it?

[he opens his eyes and shakes his head a bit]

Well musing on death can't be good for anyone. It's best to look at the future and what you can do with it until your time does finally come for good.

[Dende smiles warmly at the advice and chuckles a bit]

Well, that sounds easy enough, so long as I don't trip myself up too much.

[Tom laughs only because what Dende said was true that dwelling on such matters only darkened the brighter days and he was looking forward to see Dende grow in his curiosity.]

I don't know one guy out there that hasn't tripped up the first time they asked someone they liked on a date. Hell, I don't think anyone's that smooth. It's definitely humbling, to be sure and I'm talking about both subjects. I don't think she'll turn you down. I'll be there to support you if you think it'll help.
