001 - Naomi Misora - [Audio/Text]
[Uneven breathing heard as the audio suddenly comes on]
Wh –
[and is just as abruptly cut off. Naomi puts a hand to her temple, frustrated at her impulsiveness. She had to be careful. He already knows her voice after all. Voice, face, name, everything! For all she knows, she was and still is under that monster's control. Frantically, the former FBI agent switches to text instead.]
Who's in charge here? I need to get to the closest police station. Please, it's urgent!
[Not even they could be completely trusted, but god, she was finally free from that unnatural, unbearable death wish that had smothered her for what seemed like an eternity, she was finally free to think, and who knows for how long such freedom will last. Her finger flies toward the "send" button but pauses at the last second. Naomi reads over the note she had just written in that obvious rush of panic. Ugh, like an agitated mess.]
Thank you.
[She decides to tack on for good measure before ending the feed along with a long overdue exhale.](ooc: She'll be ultra paranoid with the first few people who respond but will get progressively calmer further down the line as she comes to terms with what's actually going on.)
[In Person]
[A sheepish chuckle and a scratch to his head.]
But yeah, it's all fun in the weird. Um...so if you don't mind me asking, and I'm probably a little bold on this, but uh..you have someone waiting for you back home?
[In Person]
[The mention of someone back home waiting instantly brought up the mental image of Raye. Naomi stops dead in her tracks.]
No.
[No, Raye's dead, and he's not coming back so she had to stop dwelling on it already. Ah, Naomi realized that came out a little harshly and readjusted the tone.]
I mean, it's fine, but no, not anymore. [Ugh, she felt like she was babbling nonsense.] Well, I did have something I needed to do back home, which involved meeting someone, but it didn't work out the way I planned, and well, now I don't really have much reason to go back. [Can you hear the complete and utter shame in her voice?]
Ha! [But she tries to lighten the mood anyway.] But it looks like I don't have much reason staying here either. Can't have it all I suppose.
[In Person]
Uh, yeah, I guess so. I'm not even sure what's going to happen when I go back. Do I still stay at Central behind a desk or do I have to wait and see what's going to happen next? But I guess it's all relative to what's going on that we face back home that matters.
No real sense in dwelling on it now but it does linger from time to time. I'm sorry I brought it up.
[Suddenly he finds his fingers much more fascinating and starts picking at them when they're already clean.]
It's all awkward in the schema of intrinsic design that we can't really fathom yet. Maybe it's for the better that we don't.
[Looking up at the ceiling, missing home was on his mind more than he cared to admit and it showed as he sighed. Amy's murder didn't set well with him and he watched the whole thing, wondering where he went wrong and why he didn't do anything when he had the opening.]
It's our errors that keep us from moving forward in anything but I don't know....I don't know if I could stop it even if I tried.
[Then the tour came back to his mind as he lowered his head from the ceiling back to Misora.]
There's still a lot to show you. There's the swimming pool and the labs in the basement plus the stuff upstairs. It's not much there but it'll make for a more accurate map right?
[In Person]
Did something happen back home with you as well?
[Before she even had a chance to register what she had said, the question slipped out. Oh, stupid, how insensitive could she be?]
Ah, I'm sorry. I didn't mean for it to just slip out like that. It's just, well, it looks like the thought of returning is really bothering you.
[Perhaps she wasn't alone then.]
[In Person]
You can say that. It's okay. Mostly it's administrative stuff anyway but it's going to come out during the audits anyway that I'm a liability to the force that should be shelved...It's more because I've had too much happen to me in some strange way that I was beginning to think that it was a normal thing in an abnormal way, if that makes any sense.
[He's trying real hard not to get too personal too quickly with his history which he kicks himself mentally for treading that path slightly. He pauses before he takes a step and looks out the window with a small smile.]
It's too messed up to make a snowman, huh?
[In Person]
I'm sure you'll be fine. [Isn't that what they all say?] I had my share of ups and downs at the bureau too, but nothing was ever completely unsalvageable. [Maybe you'll be better off without them anyway, she had wanted to say, but managed to shut herself up at the last minute.
Finally, Naomi turns.] Whoa, what?!
[Only the slightest bit of fresh snow had been falling before she was kidnapped. To say that this massive blur of white came as a shock was an utter understatement.]
Is this normal?
[In Person]
[Tom walks toward the window and places his hand on the glass. The blizzard was enough to shake the windows.]
This is the worst I've ever seen my entire life but then again, I don't know where this place is....wait....
[He thinks about the location and pulls out his notepad to take a few notes.]
I know it's winter. I know it's north. Which north is still being determined. I don't know if it's Russia, Canada, or US....so maybe if I can figure this geography out, we'll have a little bit of leverage.
[In Person]
She squints as she peers out the window. The blizzard was absolutely horrendous.]
Can't even see the sun in this mess.
[In Person]
[He pulls himself from the window and looks back at Misora.]
But anyway, you have any pictures of home?
[He pulls out his wallet and shows her the picture (http://images4.fanpop.com/image/photos/15300000/21js-season-1-episode-3-21-jump-street-15377022-640-480.jpg) of himself and his partner Doug Penhall.]
This is me and Doug in the back of Jumpstreet Chapel.
[In Person]
Let's see, well I do have one as well. [She shuffles through her purse a bit, and pulls out this (http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/3678/fotofv.jpg).]
His name's Raye, a former partner of mine. [She gives a bittersweet smile.] And my fiance.
[In Person]
[And Tom's trademark humor returns. That last thing he wanted to do was give sympathy to someone and not mean it considering that they just met. His voice goes on the campy side to add to the humor.] Doug's really not my type. He's into sports and stuff and I'm a bit too soft for his liking.
[Then he laughs.] He's a good guy though. Too bad his girlfriend plays mind games.
[In Person] (Lol they keep bringing up awkward topics despite trying not to xD)
Well, that's a shame. You too look good together too. I'm sorry it didn't work out. What about you then? Got a special someone?
[In Person] (LOL You're not kidding there! It's epic!)
[a soft scoff]
She...uh...it didn't work out between us and I was about to break up with her and then she was um...killed.
[He pulls on his ear out of nervousness. He's not entirely sure how she would take this information but then again, he's heard her story so it's not that bad and stops pulling on his ear.]
I guess we're even huh?
[In Person] (xD)
I'm really sorry to hear that. [She clutches her purse a little more tightly.] I didn't mean to bring it up, but I'm glad you feel comfortable enough to share such personal things with me.
Umm ... [She desperately searches for a change of subject. Naomi was never that great in handling awkward situations or silences.] In any case, any more interesting bits left on this floor?
[In Person]
[Like Naomi, he's looking for something else to talk about and then comes to a head in his decision.]
Do you like ping pong?
[He felt silly for asking but bowling wasn't part of this Manors sports unless it's on the Wii and he still couldn't figure that thing out to save his life.]
[In Person]
Um, yeah, I played a little back in high school, but it's been awhile. Why? Don't tell me they even have a recreation room around here?
[In Person]
[In Person]
[In Person]
It's right here through this door.
[He opens it to find the lights are off and feels along the wall to find the switch.]
There we go.
[In Person]
Heh. It's like I'm not sure if she wants us to freak out or enjoy ourselves.
[In Person]
I...have no idea how any of these are supposed to work. I come from the land of floppies and Atari. God, I feel old.
[He chuckles.]
So why not see if these games can keep up?
[He picks up a random title and looks at the cover.]
Pokemon?
[In Person]
Are you into fighting games, racing games, or perhaps shooters? You're a cop after all right? [She smirks.] You ought to be good at that kind of stuff.
[In Person]
But yeah, I think a two player would be fun. It's been a while so you'll have to go easy on me. [sheepish chuckle]
[In Person]
Since you've had experience with first person shooters, why don't we take it up a notch?
[She's no video game expert, but a few titles pops into her head as she browses the shelf.] Ah, there it is. [She holds up this (http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/677/haloreachcover.jpg).]
Huh, this must be a new version. I don't think this version has even come out in my time.
[In Person]
This...it looks almost real! This should be an interesting game. A sci-fi first person shooter with a Star Wars kinda feel mixed with Aliens. This should be interesting. Well...except that we're supposed to go one against the other and it can be matched online? Wow...talk about intense.
