i don't know what's going on. i'm scared. are you here, light? it looks like i'm in your room but -- you don't have a stuffed animal like this, do you? (i wouldn't let you live it down if you did!)

i found this cell phone next to it. am i dreaming? but everything feels too solid. right? i can't

[ Another pause, this one longer. ]

i mean i don't feel unsafe. maybe it's because things look so familiar. maybe i'm about to wake up! .... right?

[ And after a final, hanging pause, she places the blackberry back on the bed, accidentally pressing its keys in passing: ]

Plot Bunny-san, I think...

Mmm! I think so!

Until I was twelve yeah, I lived in Sicily. Uh... well My mother was half-Japanese... so I was taught bits and pieces as a kid...

[He rubs the back of his neck awkwardly, his time in Italy had really never been a good one]

Well, I was a kid when I was there, so I really just watched a lot of dubbed American stuff, my sister liked soap opera's though... and cooking shows...

[Hayato goes a bit pale and shudders at the mention of his sister and cooking]

[Light pauses. It would look suspicious if Sayu stopped talking. But did it matter in the end? If Sayu did stop talking to Mello, Mello could probably guess that Light had gotten in contact with Sayu.. which considering the previous Mello's behavior would provide little illumination on Light's character. One didn't necessarily need to be Kira in order to be concerned about their younger sister speaking to strangers. In fact, it would almost be stranger if Light hadn't been watching the feeds.

What does matter, is the fact that by interrupting this conversation, Mello would realize that Light is watching the feeds. The thought obviously hadn't occurred to the bastard yet, so why give him a hand? It's inevitable however, that sooner or later Mello would figure that much out. He's not worthy of standing in L's shadow, not in the slightest, but he's not an idiot either. ...At least, not a complete idiot.

Unless, Mello's true intention in all this, isn't to talk to Sayu, but to send a message to Light. I'm watching you. Or something along those lines. His eyes narrow at this thought. If there's one thing Light would not tolerate in this, it's involving Sayu.]

Relax. You haven't done anything wrong. [Yet.] Be careful. If he shows any sign of wanting to meet, refuse as politely as you can.

[ After a short pause: ]

[ Wait. ]

Did you just say plot bunny? [ And then she remembers. ] Oh, right, Plot Bunny! This place is so... weird.

[ As Sayu stirs the noodles, she breathes -- ]

[ -- and frowns over the heat and fog of the pot. Bad subject. Change it. It's not her right to know. She wants to apologize, but follows her brother's example and makes a seamless transition instead: ]

You know, you never told me what this place's full story was.

Oh right...

[Shit how was he going to explain this? Well, he was good with his theories...]

The best way I can summarize it, is some sort of mass inter-dimensional kidknapping. Which is why there are some real freaks wandering around. Not everyone here is exactly an upstanding member of society if you know what I mean.

He has already tried getting information about the Author's identity out of the goddamn lagomorph only to be rendered illiterate for a week, which of course, is swiftly added to the growing list of things that would never be mentioned to Sayu. Had he not already known that killing yourself here would only result in reviving a week later, decidedly not at home, he might have tried that, but really his aversion to his own death, in any form, would have made that a nonviable option anyway.]

I appreciate it, but you need to take care of yourself first. The plots here can get dangerous sometimes.

It really is... but I guess you do kinda get used to it after awhile... I've been here since September.

[Detective Superintendent of the NPA ... So that was true after all. How messed up. If Yagami had also been truthful about working with them as well, he must have also had a sizable advantage as Kira then. It also made the fact that Amane knew of both L and Yagmi make more sense. Unfortunately, verifying what Naomi had already suspected didn't do her any good in figuring out how or why they happened.]

There's not exactly a greatly structured legal system at the manor and few of us are in law enforcement, so we could always use more help. But unfortunately if he's never had any experience in the field, it doesn't count.

[The girl's starting to get suspicious, but who could blame her? She's been all too cooperative, so it was only a matter of time. It irks the hell out of Naomi that she's even talking to a relative of Kira's, and it's unlikely that his sister has any important information to share regarding the actual Kira case itself, but gaining her trust could gain her leverage over Yagami. Who knows, perhaps it could smoke a confession out of him or at the very least shake him up. But first, she needs to earn that trust. With that, Naomi switches to video. She herself had been curious to see what this girl looked like anyway.]

...well... I... I lost my appetite.[Hayato nervously rubs the back of his neck smiling awkwardly]

I'm from a place called Lebleux. There we had a story series called The Holy Knight that was pretty good. They don't seem to have it at the manor though.

Yes, it's a little outdated. Of the officers, there is only Tom Hanson that I know of. We usually work as partners, and he's very good at his job. Crane is also around, but I don't know him too well. Of the detectives, Saguru is definitely one of the most reliable ones I've come across.

[She hesitates for a while considering whether or not to mention Mello or Sands, neither of whom she trusts completely.] As for the others, I don't know much about them so I can't say. We're not very organized, regrettably.

What about you, Sayu? Are you interested in the field as well?

[ A beat passes before she lets the ladle drop into the pot with a clang. ]

That's disgusting.

[ Sayu sets down her bowl on the table with one hand, slides a chair out from under it with the other, settles in. Stews, if you'll pardon the pun. Between large, dainty noodle slurps: ]

Has anyone met her?

[ Sayu blushes a little, shifts in her seat. ]

No, it's not really my thing. I tend to tune out ten minutes after Light and dad start talking about their cases. [ Punctuated by a laugh --

-- and then a slight, sudden feeling of discomfort. Remember, Sayu? This conversation's private. But what's there to hide? ]

Um. [ She forces a little smile. ] Yeah.

[ "Lebleux?" Never heard of it. ]

[He watched her intently, a bit worried, but she wasn't crying. Praise the friggin' gods she was not crying. It was only a matter of time though. She probably had parents and shit back home that she would freak out about. Hopefully her life wouldn't get as fucked over as his was...]

No, not from what I've heard... she likes to play 'god' I guess. Some of the shit she comes up with is pretty dangerous too...

[Hayato slouches on the table absentmindedly poking at the untouched sandwich, as he watches Sayu eat. He'd probably end up throwing out his meal, nothing really new for him.]
