[13th Calculation] Recoil [In Person]
[Gene hasn't been seen since he met Nina in the hall. After being received so coldly, he did the first thing that he shouldn't have done and that was to lock himself away from everyone else. He had a lot to think about and the crushing blow he received on an emotional level killed his ability to remain somewhat sociable.
Sitting in the library, he's reading a book on mental illness. Frustrated after reading it for an hour, he quickly gets up from his seat and throws the book across the room in a brief fit of rage, running his fingers through his short cropped hair.
The impact from the book and its drop knocked over the vase on the opposite side of the room. He didn't want to admit to himself that he's starting to fall apart himself. The loss of his wife back home, the stress of uncertainty if his daughter was okay, the rejection he felt from Nina, the numerous tortures that the Author had put him through not to mention the absence of the friends he made all came crashing down on him.]
Fuck this.
[He turns around in the opposite direction where he threw the book and out of the library.]

I'm sorry. I didn't know anyone else was here.

Oh...uh...I threw a book against the wall and the vase fell. I'll clean it up.

I'm Nepeta, green blood moirail of Equius, blue blood. What's your name? [She crosses her arms on the railing and stares down]
no subject
[He clears his throat. Looking up at her as he takes another step back so he's not straining his neck, he's calming down.]
How long have you been here and I have a silly question. What exactly are you?
no subject
She shakes it off, reminding herself that Light had said that time wouldn't pass in her universe.] I'm a troll.
no subject
[He puts his hand on the rail and smiles.]
You know, I think when my daughter would like you...if she were here to see you.
no subject
[He was a lusus?] Is she at your universe?
no subject
[He nods and puts a cinnamon toothpick in his mouth instead of a cigarette. Part of the reason for his quick temper, nicotine withdraws.]
Yeah, she's probably reading or coloring pictures.
[No need to create panic after all.]
no subject
Light said that time doesn't pass in our universes while we are here. [She frowns] I hope so. I don't want Equius to know I'm missing.
no subject
[Slightly confused but not closed off to the idea of learning about this new person.]
Oh, you know what, did Light give you a packet that explains this place?
no subject
No... [She trails off, frowning.] Should he have?
no subject
Well, this should help some. It's not his responsibility but I thought that he would at least be a little considerate.
no subject
Thanks! [She grins again] I don't know why he didn't give it to me, but he gave me a lot of infurmation, anyway!
no subject
[Of course, he had to take a step back to keep from getting knocked down in the drop but he was certainly impressed with the acrobatic display.]
It's for your reference.
[Now he's seeing just how small she is in comparison, he felt like a giant.]
no subject
I'll be sure to read it thoroughly! [She grins up at him, then tilts her head to the side curiously]
How long have you been here?
no subject
no subject
[Nepeta pauses, again] And what's Halloween?
no subject
[He used to like the holiday until the Manor ruined it for him.]
I don't have my notes with me to tell you the exact number we had but I'll take a guess and say we've had about thirty.

no subject
[Yeah, he's still not buying that the Author is the main cause.]

[He pulls out his pen and rips a sheet of paper from his notebook. He begins writing out a scenario using the paper as a visual aid.]
Let's say that this point is the Manor and this point is your world and this point is you. The Manor is the stabilizing factor in this scenario and you are the catalyst. Now there can't be more than one of us existing in the same place at the same time doing the exact same thing simply because if that were to occur, everything that you are would cease to exist.
Now, in your world, time freezes. However there is another theory. Time continues but you're existing along side as if nothing happened. Think of it as a dream state. You know you exist and you're here living among others from other worlds in which upon your return home, this place would be a dream to you. Does that make any sense?
no subject
no subject
[This is what he firmly believed to be true instead of a frozen time that made no sense to him at all.]
