Mello did indeed get a baby. A pudgy little pink thing that gurgled at him and got spit on his nice leather. And that is not okay. Mello didn't like kids when he WAS one ~~fuck you to any of you who say he still IS one~~ and he doesn't like them now. Useless little buggers taking up space and crying for attention when they could take that time they are wasting to LEARN how to just say what it is they want rather than being the bane of some poor soul's existence.

Yes. Mello doesn't like babies.

And so if he's going to have to deal with one, he's going to make the thing straighten up and fly right...or hit the road.

[And that is how this video has come to be a baby, probably about 3 yrs of age, perched precariously on a tree branch as Mello waits below for the thing to figure out how to get itself out of danger. Learn early, learn fast. And Mello has no qualms with this because clearly he has the baby's best interests in mind. And if the baby actually manages to pass this test, hell maybe it can be his successor.

Though, that hope disappears all too suddenly when the baby inadvertently FALLS. And tumbling through the sky, disappears midair.

And in turn, the blackberry suddenly falls to the ground where instead of the lean leather clad boy, there is now a bundle of black clothes and a tiny blonde-bobbed head sticking out of the pile. An unhappy looking infant now clad in only a black vest that goes down over his knees and is falling a bit off his tiny shoulders.

Yes. Mello has failed the parenting test]

Oh.... [Mello's tone drops off for a moment.] He must be busy.

[He then slips back into his broad smile] He's off having adventures with L!

[[L watches, impartial to the drop in tone. He misses them too, but he wont go on about it. This isn't the time and there's no reason since nothing can be done.

He tilts his head back, staring up at Mello. He doesn't recognize him then, this is a rare opportunity.]]

L? Who do you mean, Mihael?

[Little Mello stops dead and looks horrified]

YOU DON'T KNOW WHO L IS????

[[He puts his finger to his lip, pretending to be thinking.]]
He's a detective of some sort, isn't he? Do you know him?

[[L finishes his cleaning, then takes the basin and cloth to the side of the basin on another place.]]

[Horrified is now an understatement.]

not SOME SORT. He is THE detective. DUHHHH.

And I don't know him, but i will one day. [He nods very seriously]

[[L plays the part well, letting Mello think he's told him something new. So even at this age Mello had this sort of thought about him. He sighs and turns around to Mello, shoving his hands in his pockets and sits down next to him.]]

And how will you meet him if he's 'the' detective and you don't know him?

[Mello hesitates there, clearly giving away the fact that deep down he's not actually sure if he'll ever get to. But then that little brow furrows and his mouth sets in determination]

cuz i just will!

[He then pouts and jumps off the bed]

[[L watches as Mello tells him his reasons for it, his eyes watching the child rather than following him.]]

You really admire this man? Or is it his job you admire?

I am gunna be a detective one day [Mello explains] but...I wanna be just like L.

[[L nods his head, alright, it's the legacy rather than the person. But then again, this is a child too.]]

I think, Mihael, if you keep your mind on it, you can be even better than him. You just have to work hard hm?

NO! [Mello stomps his foot] To be like L you have to be brave. And smart. And wanna save people. And AWESOME. He's the best. At everything.

[[...Well that, too, is a shocking revelation. To hear just how highly a young mind could be influenced to think of him as some sort of ... supernatural being.]]

You really do admire your "L". I'm certain if he knew, he would find some sort of flattery in your very kind words.

[[And. ..then kinda has a thought. He may be able to use this and still protect Mello from even himself.]]

How about, we play a game and prepare you to meet L one day with it? Remember the name I tried to give you earlier? "Mello"? Why don't we pretend that's your detective name? Your letter would be M, but that's right after L.

[Another game?? If this guy had more games that Mello could win, then he was going to be a way better babysitter than he had originally thought.

And not only that, but a game that gets him ready to meet L? Aw man this was the best idea ever.]

Alright! Ill be 'Mello' and um...who will you be?

[[L congratulates himself on being a genius yet again, this shouldn't be too hard to control children. Pretend most things are a game and perhaps it will work out.
