[If his own family didn't worry about him living on the streets, why would anyone else? He was a thug, usually had whatever he got coming, and he was used to dealing with MUCH worse. So why?]

[Key words there is 'should know'. He had heard Ryuutaro speak them... but there was almost this filter in his brain that wouldn't let him accept it as truth. Or it just confused him too much to really get, which irritated him.

and that irritation, however mild, could probably be seen as the teen runs a hand through his hair and looks off to the side again.

He remembered Ryuutaro stating their friendship, and speaking the words 'you're the first person I ever fully trusted'... even after he had told him that he was worthless... that he was a scumbag. Ryuutaro didn't know the things he had done. Those words would be empty if he knew... because if he told him the kind of person he had been back in Italy, he felt as though he would break that trust. Which would make this friendship something of a farce...

... but he still didn't want to lose his friend, if that wasn't made clear by the previous week. Everything was just so jumbled up it made his head hurt... and his stomach. He tries to shake himself out of his current train of thought.]

[Ryuutaro watches those facial expressions carefully. And just as much as Hayato couldn't understand him, he still was unable to understand Hayato as well, even when he tried really hard.
All he knew about being close to people was what he'd learned from Ginga, what he'd seen when Ginga was with his friends... It had seemed so very, very simple.
Ryuutaro had a feeling that fate picked about the most complicated person it could to make him get close to.

Ryuutaro closes his fan slowly, not sure how he should actually reply to this. He doesn't understand it either after all. And really...]

[Hayato just stewed in his confusion for a moment. Why would Ryuutaro put his trust in HIM of all people? Was it for safety?

That had to be it. Hayato was good at protecting people. It was his job after all. Ryuutaro trusted Hayato to keep him safe. That made sense.

After a few moment the confused expression fades into something more neutral, now that he feels he has a better handle on their friendship. He chuckles a bit, awkwardly]

I didn't know I was that complicated.
