action!
[You'd be surprised by how far Light has come since his last stay at the Manor. When he wakes up and finds himself not at home, even though is first instinct is to throw something against the wall, and vent his steel dissolving malice outwardly, he doesn't. See, instead of making a public spectacle out of himself--because damn it, that's exactly what the Author wants, and Light refuses to give her that kind of satisfaction--Light has settled in quietly, after checking and rechecking that his Blackberry isn't broadcasting anything.
An hour or so later, he has made his way down to the kitchen (pointedly ignoring all the food and drink already laid out on the table) where he busies himself with making a cup of green tea. In fact, he's the very epitome of zen. Except after taking a deliberately calm sip, Light sets the cup down a little too forcefully. Tea sloshes over the rim making a small puddle on the counter.]
....
[After shooting a poisonous glare at the spot as though it's the tea's fault for spilling itself, Light wipes up the mess with a kitchen towel, picks the teacup back up, and turns to leave.]
((Feel free to bother princess here! I'm busy until the weekend, so replies will come then <3))

Rough day?

But bottling up negativity. Right.]
You could say that, I suppose.
[It's a casual, smooth tone reserved for discussing the weather. Despite all appearances, this is obviously not an ordinary two year old.]
Sorry, who are you?
no subject
The name is Reborn. I'm a bit new here. [A few weeks still counts as "new", really; he wasn't even CLOSE to having the kind of information on the area he'd like.]
no subject
[The name is strange, but it's not the strangest Light has heard here, and he does little more than raise an eyebrow at it.]
It's nice to meet you. [No. No, it really isn't. Light doesn't have to think very hard to come up with a list of things he would rather be doing with his time than spend it in the Manor's kitchen with a cup of tea and a probably magical toddler.] My name is Light.
[He blows on his tea carefully, and takes another sip of tea.]
I suppose you've already had this place explained to you then?
no subject
Hello~
no subject
Didn't think I'd see you again, Vessalius. How are you? [As an after thought.] And Gilbert.
[No, he hasn't forgotten the damn tribble incident as much as he wishes he could.]
no subject
I'm fine as I can be trapped here, and Gilbert is also fine, he's happy staying in my room most of the time.
It's been a while since you were last here.

[Sorry Oz, but Light is definitely not cheerful enough to attempt a nice, polite laugh in return. As it happens, Light is currently amusing himself with the thought of pouring battery acid down the Author's throat. At least now, he has a genuine reason for smiling; it's a pleasant image.]
Several months, according to the Blackberry anyway. But I was only home for a few days. I don't really understand how that's even possible. [Despite how nonchalant that tone he's using is, he's fairly ticked off about it.] Then again, I suppose things aren't supposed to make sense around here. [Taking a quiet, thoughtful sip of tea.]
So what did I miss?
no subject
I guess logic isn't something common here.
Not much too dramatic, though I guess being on a sinking boat might count as that.
no subject
A sinking ship, huh? Maybe it's a sign that my luck is changing for the better.
[No, not really seeing if that were the case, he wouldn't have been brought back at all. That part however, goes unsaid. Seeing Oz make breakfast however, brings a few older memories to mind. Wallace had cooked for him here, hadn't he? It's almost a shame he isn't here anymore; Wallace had been a good cook, even if Light refused to fan his ego.]
Need any help with that?
no subject
No, I'll be fine. It would be rather odd after being here for a year and I couldn't make something like toast.
no subject
Sorry, I didn't mean to insinuate otherwise. [A laugh.] Force of habit to offer help, I suppose.
[Light begins reaching for a bagel from the pantry, though he eyes the pan with some apprehension.]
You may want to turn that bread over before it burns on that side though.
Excuse multiple fails XD"
At first Mikami found himself unable to believe it. He just walked down the hallway and then there was... Light.
Mikami's mind went entirely blank as he just stopped in the middle of a step and stared.
And then the emotion rushed through him, so much of it that for the blink of an eye it could clearly be seen on his face.
How could the Author ever dare to bring him back? God deserved better than this, he shouldn't be stuck in this place, he was above all these things. Holding him hostage was more than a sin and one day the Author would have to die for it.
Light was back here... Mikami felt anger and sadness. And something else.
Delight. Happyness. He knew it was wrong, he knew he had to suppress it.
But ever since Light had left, Mikami had been able to feel himself getting lost in a darkness that he couldn't describe.
Without Light... without God.
And now Light was just in front of him and he didn't vanish as he blinked.
Mikami wanted to fall on his knees in front of him, wanted to worship him forever, for existing, for being there.
Instead he finally regained control of his emotions, adjusted his glasses and just smiled faintly.]
Yagami-san... So you're back?
[For the public they were two people who only briefly knew each other. And Mikami wouldn't ever allow himself more than this brief moment of weakness, these few cracks in that mask]
what fails? I saw no fails <3
That certainly appears to be the case. I'm not sure why, but I doubt that there's any particular meaning behind it.
[A blatant lie, but stated so effortlessly casually. With Light, this is very much personal. The Author is deliberately messing with him, and she will suffer a horrible death if Light ever gets his hands on her name and face.]
Have you been well? Did anything noteworthy happen while I was gone?
no subject
He shakes his head]
Nothing out of the ordinary. We did have a rough time, the halloween time has affected the Author's taste in events, but that was predictable.
[But at least Light is here now and he remembers Mikami, too. Mikami was very thankful for that.]
no subject
Well that would explain this. [He gestures vaguely at the party paraphernalia in the hallway.] I wondered what the occasion was. [He had originally guessed birthday, but the conspicuous lack of penis balloons made that less likely in his mind. It was one birthday he wasn't about to forget anyway.]
It seemed a little bit far off from Halloween though. There is still a little more than a week left until then, no? [DNW. DNW. DNW.] This may just be the eye of the storm.
Speculation aside, Mikami-san, I'm curious, is that person I told you about last time still here? [Referring to L, mostly, but he leaves it open.]
no subject
At the second question Mikami takes a very small moment to reply as he rethinks all his interactions with L in the past. None of them had actually been suspicious to anybody, but the way L contacted him made it obvious that he still suspected something, however he gathered the information]
Yes, as far as I've seen [Which means he's been watching every broadcast L did] they've not left this place at all.
no subject
That must have been difficult. [Referring to Mikami, Mello and L, but with slightly different shades of meaning. Continuing on casually after checking to make sure no-one can overhear the conversation.] Have they said anything of significance?
no subject
The first part was more important]
I was contacted by the detective. He wanted to cooperate with me for this place's justice system.
[The way Mikami says it though makes clear, that he sincerely doubts that it was the real motive. It had been a private message to him only. Why only to him, when it concerned all the other detectives as well?
Mikami didn't feel good about the fact that somehow L had gotten wary of him, but regardless, Light needed to know]
