[Anyone passing by the kitchen will notice either a sickeningly sweet smell or something that will make their mouths water...it all really depends on how you feel about pie. That's right. Pie. Mary had meant to do this after horror month, but Oktoberfest and being weird little monsters put a stop to that. You couldn't exactly cook when you were a foot tall. Everyone deserved something nice though, especially after the hell that they had all been through.

Walking into the kitchen, the source of the scent is apparent soon enough. There are already a few pies set on the counter of various flavors. It looked like she'd been cooking for a few hours and she likely had. It was all worth it though.

Hearing a soft ding, she grabbed a set of mitts and pulled a fresh apple pie from the hot oven.]

...I can't believe how much I missed this...

[Cooking breakfast was one thing...but there was just something about baking that relaxed her.]

[Was that all she was scared about? She had an investment in this kitchen and wasn't about to leave until she was ready. Unless they were attacked by monsters, she had no intention of leaving.] It's not easy to scare me out of a kitchen. Do- [The hell was that noise? Turning towards the sound, she's fully prepared to see anything...anything but a dragon.

Tilting her head curiously, she stares at the dragon with nothing less than amazement.] How did you do that? It's yours?

I'm not exactly the friendliest person. [Tris is trying to say she's a huge bitch who doesn't like cooking with people... without actually saying it. Chime gets a crooked smile.]

This is Chime. She's vain enough for ten cats, and she was the creation of my first mage-student, a fortunate accident. I assumed guardianship of her at roughly the same time as I discovered his magic.

You're still better than certain people I've had to deal with here. But...If you want, I'll step aside and you can do what you need to do? [She knew some people preferred cooking alone and she was fine with that.]

[Moving a little closed, she was completely fascinated by Chime.] I've never heard of magic making something like that... Summoning things for sure, but simply creating a life? I didn't know that could be done...

[That gets a very small smile from Tris.] Thank you. [Tris is going to start rummaging in the fridge and start in on making a roast. Or a few. Enough that people coming down will probably all have enough.]

Most mages don't make living beings. Chime was a very fortunate accident, where my student's magic got away from him. [Tris is smiling crookedly.] He didn't exactly want to care for her at the time, so I took over her care.

You’re welcome. Really, I understand. [When she was strapped for time, she usually kicked everyone out of the kitchen too. Though that was usually to eliminate distractions.

Stepping away, she took a seat at the table to watch Tris. Leaning her head on her hand, her eyes followed Tris as she got the roast.] That’s deplorable. If there’s a living being that relies on you, you should do whatever you can to care for it.
