[Sitting in the Parlor, Mary was mildly surprised by the decorations she saw. She'd completely forgotten about her birthday; the author apparently hadn't though. The decorations were in shades of pink and light purple, streamers and balloons littering the room. the best thing though was the white and pink cake in the middle of the room 'Happy Birthday' written in elegant letters in the middle of the cake.

She may not know the author, but she was touched that the day hadn't passed with no recognition. If she was to understand things, she wasn't even supposed to even have a twenty ninth birthday. She may not be at home, but Mary was counting her blessings that she was able to see it at all. Taking a seat by the cake, she looked around the room, simply in awe at all that was done for her. Some people may say that it wasn't much, but she hadn't even been expecting someone to know what day it was.]

This is far nicer than anything I expected today...Thank you.

[She wasn't sure if the author would even hear her, but there was no reason to be rude and not thank her for this lovely gift.]

[Just smiling, she sat up properly and moved the cake further down the table. They didn't need that with such a pretty plate of pancakes.]

No, it wasn't any trouble. Plus, i think there's an unwritten rule somewhere about Mom's birthdays and cooking breakfasts.

Still...you didn't need to. [But it was still very much appreciated and the wide smile on her face said it.

Leaning forward, she took her fork and cut a piece of pancake from the stack. Thankfully, she'd have some help defeating this monster, she doubted she'd ever be able to eat all of it in one sitting without feeling like she was going to explode.]

It's good...very good actually. If I knew you could cook like this, I'd have dragged you in the kitchen sooner~.

[Though admittedly, she'd probably just have had him sit down and keep her company.]

[He chuckles] and then end up telling me to sit my ass down and let you do it. [He knows, because he'd do the same if their positions were reversed.]

Is there something wrong with that~?

[That was her right. She enjoyed cooking and she enjoyed talking with people, it was the best of both, especially since he was family.

And speaking of family.]

I ran into someone earlier.

oh? you say it like this isn't a tiny place.

[just excuse him while he chokes on his mouthful.]

[Air. He's getting it again now. He still looks pretty damned shocked - this was news to him.]

[Okay, maybe she should have taken it slower. She couldn't hold back a smile though; his reaction was more than a little amusing.]

You heard me. Why didn't you tell me you had a girlfriend? She seems like a lovely girl.

I don't have one! Who the hell told you I did? [He's more than a little pissed that someone's been saying this shit now that the surprise has dulled.]

[About to scold him for his language, she suddenly realized exactly what he said.

He...didn't? That didn't make any sense though.]

I believe her name was Bela.

[with the name, what he HAD been about to say died on his lips.]

Bela. [It wasn't much more than a growl. Again she was proving that letting the hounds gnaw her ankles had been a damned good idea.]

Of course she did. But I can tell you very damned honestly I would never date that bitch. [....yes, he was still holing a grudge.]

[Taken aback by his sudden aggression at no more that the woman's name, she couldn't understand what he didn't like about her.

From what she saw, Bela was a polite and refined young woman.]

Why do you say that? She seems like a very kind lady. [Granted, she seemed like the type with expensive taste, but that was no reason to behave so harshly.]

Kind? She's one step away from being evil. Not is she a thief - she knows about what's out there, and uses that knowledge to steal dangerous occult items and sell them on - but she had my car towed. She shot Sam.

But I bet she 'forgot' to mention that stuff.

[Paling as she heard the various things Bela had done to her family, she couldn't help feeling a little sick to her stomach. And she had to share a room with the woman?]

...Oh God...she didn't say anything about that. Was Sam okay? I mean...it didn't do too much damage? Nothing vital?

He was fine. She hit him in the shoulder. It could have been much worse, considering.

It doesn't surprise me she didn't mention that. [What he wants to know is why the hell she said they were dating. Probably because she thought it would get under his skin (she was right.)] Bela's bad news.

[Clenching her hands, she stared down at her lap. Everything in her wanted to hunt down Bela and make her pay for everything she's done to her family. She didn't care much about the Impala getting towed, what she was more concerned with was that she had the gall to shoot her child.]

Is there anything else I need to know about?

[He sighs. He really shouldn't have mentioned this today, seeing as it was her birthday and all. ~~Hey, that car is family.~~

Not that she's done to us. [Because he really just wanted to warn her away from Bela. Even if Bela herself didn't know the pain of hell yet, it was enough to make up for the rest of it. Kind of.] Just be careful of her. She's a lying snake, and she won't hesitate to stab you in the back if she gets something from it.

...Believe me, she won't get a chance to stab me in the back. We have a lot of time to talk and I'm going to take full advantage of that.

[There were certain perks to being roommates with someone that hurt your family. Not only did you get to see them at their most vulnerable, but you could make sure they didn't get up to any mischief.

Just... Be careful. Remember that she's dangerous, and that you can't believe a damned word she says.

After what you've told me, I didn't intend on believing her. I can't just ignore her though...she's too close to where I sleep to simply ignore her completely.

[Though, she did have a few words for Bela...and maybe even a few threats about keeping her hands away from her boys.]

You know there's a bed elsewhere if you need one, right? [That was his awkward way of offering her his bed if she needs it at any time.]
