[Being a doll doesn't appear to have deterred John from his usual antics at all. It being April Fool's Day, and him being a bit of a prankster...]

[Well, most of the doorways in the Manor have been rigged in some way. Some of them drop buckets of plastic snakes on unsuspecting victims' heads (because there was no running water due to the event, which was such a bummer!!), others pull the trigger on canisters of silly string. Some even drop small vats of molasses or some other sticky substance and then pull the switch on a fan, to blow the age-old trick of chicken feathers all over the poor sap that opened the door.]

[John is prowling around the Manor, watching his traps and waiting, hoping to come across something wildly hilarious and amp up his Prankster's Gambit.]

[ Being stuck as a doll, Dave feels like whatever gambit he has is completely depleted. He could handle every other thing the Manor'd thrown at them-- even the dumb mistletoe-- but this?

What deity did he piss off to earn this punishment?

At the very least he can still flashstep, and some amount of timey wimey bullshit is available to him, because he knows what day it is. Hard to miss it when your best bro's been a nut for the "holiday" for goddamn years, nevermind him skulking around the Manor to rig his pranks. He's mostly observed the process, but now he's waiting to see what poor sap walks into one of the traps, locating John's most recent lookout point to stealth up behind him. ]

Going all out this year?

[ Huffs softly, vaguely amused. ]

'course not. John Egbert lets no man, woman, or house stop him when pranking, not even when he's pint sized and a doll.

Nope! If anything this makes it easier, because I can just sit somewhere-- [He sits abruptly against the wall and smiles serenely, looking eerily like an actual doll for a moment.]

--and do that, and nobody is any the wiser that I'm sitting there waiting for them to fall into my trap!

[ He scrunches his shoulders up, hands shoved in his pockets, and tries not to look uneasy. The fact he's a doll himself doesn't help, but at least John is John regardless of what he is. ]

God I'm glad I know better than to wander around on April Fool's.

[Well, unlucky for you that Kaoru was a prankster back in his own world, so expecting some form of prank on one of his favourite days was to be expected.]

April fools day. One of the best days of year for pranksters to go wild, don't you think?

[A grin. He recognizes the prankster's spirit in Kaoru, and offers him a fistbump.]

Arguably one of the best days in the year.

It is, you can do so much in one day and to so many people. I don't see why it has to be one day a year.

Ugh I know, right? It should be like. Four weeks. A whole month. April Fool's Month.

[Unfortunately, Kanda hasn't been introduced to the concept of April Fools', even though he's been pranked before. So, naturally, the little tricks around are quite aggravating to him, and the last straw is when opening a door makes a bucket full of powder fall on his head, leaving him nice and white.]

What is it with today?!

[And John is sitting on the back of a chair somewhere-- the cool thing about being a doll is that he can just sit somewhere and not move and nobody will really notice him until he moves.]

[Or in this case, cracks up laughing.]

Oh man you walked right into that one!!

[Kanda growls, looking around for the source of laughter, and goes in for the kill. Unfortunately, Mugen has turned plastic as well so he might as well be whomping things with a stick rather than a deadly blade. He doesn't find that funny at all.]

You set all of this up?!

[John honestly just laughs the entire time, stick-whomping or otherwise.]

It's April Fool's Day, of course I did!!

[Well, Estelle didn't know what April fools day was, so she really wasn't expecting a prank to happen, while she was reading what appeared to be a very old book. Walking through the door she was a victim to a rather sticky substands and soon ended up looking like a chicken.]

Oh dear, I hope the book's still okay.

[John feels a little bit bad for pranking such an unseeming young lady, but not quite enough to not get a laugh out of it. He hops off the back of his chair perch and floats his way over to her, using his windy powers to clean most of the muck off of the book.]

[She looked rather shocked when someone used what she thought was magic to clean the book, she carefully as she could cleaned the rest before going over and leaning in, she was interested to find out just how that worked.]

How did you do that?

How did I-- oh, the windy thing?

[He scratches at the back of his neck.] Well y'see, I'm... sort of a God, where I'm from? And I got cool windy powers and an awesome hood to go along with it. [He pulls his hood-- which is longer than he is tall, even when he's not doll-sized --over his shoulder to show her.]

[Snakes. Snakes. Ryuutaro had been in worry for Hayato and not really paying attention to anything this week.
And then there were snakes. He lets out a strangled small scream. Like fate wanted he was afraid of snakes after all, due to events in his pasts.
The shock only lasted for a moment though and a second later Ryuutaro's expression turns sour.]

Great. Such exceptionally good humour, really.

Well since everything's all plastic, I couldn't really put a bucket of water up there. [John is floating, up near the doorway that the bucket fell from. Since Ryuutaro looked kind of angry, and all, he figured it was safer to stay out of arm's reach.]

April Fool's!!

I have to say this day was less than pleasant last year and this year it isn't either.

[Why is it that every year something lands on him? Well, at least this year he wouldn't have to spend hours washing color out of his hair.]

It's finally a good thing that the Author has done, banning water from this day.

[Which gave Ryuutaro an extra shock which he is still recovering from, but well... at least his looks are okay.]

[He drifts downward a little, cautiously offering a hand as he gets closer.]

[A dye rig. He is now a very... colorful doll-detective.]

[And somehow, the slow blink moment is less shock and more some kind of confused deja-vu. He could've sworn neither of them were here, and this happened last year - ]

[Sorry, Saguru. Neither your Thief nor Akito are present, but there is a one John Egbert, doll-like and laughing, about to fall off the back of a nearby chair.]

[He's been pranked. By someone who is not Kaito. ...Somehow he's not sure how to react, although there is that nice little part of his mind helpfully informing him that it IS April Fool's day.]

[Yeah, his sense of wounded dignity died a long, long time ago.]
