[Open/In Person]

[This is not Thairos. For one thing, it's raining. She practically had to fight to get the normal storms to come to Thairos. For another, she woke up in what seems to be an inn that is far more opulent than even her famous teacher would stay at. Also, the lighting here is exceedingly odd.]

[There's very little chance she could have gotten kidnapped (and to what end, especially if she's unbound and has nobody watching her. So Tris is going to go out and see if she can't find the lay of this strange city. This starts with her keeping the rain off of her and walking out of the hotel. She is On A Mission To Explore This Place, and she is Not Happy about it.]

[Congrats, Paris, you now have one grumpy, confused, red-headed weather witch standing under what appears to be an invisible glass dome that sheds the rain, and she's stalking your streets like she's mad at you! Which she kind of is.]

[That gets the kind of expression that should really be accompanied by a scribbly black cloud of gloom and doom behind him.] If I didn't, we wouldn't be having this conversation, and believe me, you would know.

Soma Cruz. [Well, hell, you're being unusually civil so far, particularly for someone that has a way to sense his power who ISN'T already aware of the backstory.] It's complicated, and I'm not sure you'd know what to do with half of this; it's a little unique where I'm from, and I kinda hope for your sake there's nothing like it where you're from. [He half-grins, although it's not entirely a happy gesture, and there may still be just-visible fangs from being agitated.]

[identity profile] last-dracula.livejournal.com 2010-11-13 09:16 am (UTC)(link)
[He laughs a little nervously.] Well, you're not the first mage I've met, although Yoko's had to spend time studying this - like I said, it's a little unique, and the only person with something even kind-of similar is a little elusive sometimes, and he has been trying. [Kind of. Sort of. Mostly by "deep end of ocean" punting and cryptic dire warnings. And lots of facepalming.]

Where we are is - funny. We're apparently in some kind of mock-up of Paris right now, and I really don't know if what I was told about what's going on here would make any sense because it sounds really stupid and loony.

[identity profile] last-dracula.livejournal.com 2010-11-13 09:22 am (UTC)(link)
Iii think I could still come up with a new one on you. [If he were compelled to explain more, that is.]

.................[And now, he deadpans.] I don't know if the word "fangirl" exists in your vocabulary, but apparently there's an author who can mess with reality who is trying to write a story, but needed to nab people for characters.

[identity profile] last-dracula.livejournal.com 2010-11-13 09:27 am (UTC)(link)
I told you it sounded loony.

[He looks up at the street lamp, confused.]

...Uh. Does where you're from have electric lights?

[identity profile] last-dracula.livejournal.com 2010-11-13 09:30 am (UTC)(link)
Aaah. [he nods, slowly. Pre-industrial. This'll be fun!] These are actually normal where I'm from - in fact, this city doesn't look too far off from what little I know of Paris on my world.

[identity profile] last-dracula.livejournal.com 2010-11-13 09:34 am (UTC)(link)
Oooh this'll be fun. [He's smiling, even if it is a lopsided sort of "oh dear god my life" smile.] Do you need any help getting around here, or explanations of things? I'm not exactly great with how technology works, but I'm at least used to a lot of it, and there's a map of this city on - .... [And he pauses as something else processes, and he pulls out his blackberry - black, with a silver solar-eclipse ring on the back.] Did you find one of these when you woke up here?

[identity profile] last-dracula.livejournal.com 2010-11-13 09:41 am (UTC)(link)
It's apparently something the 'Author' puts out for people or something; everybody apparently has one, and you can probably go back for it. The city's big enough that I don't think anyone would move it or mess with it by the time you get back.
They're communication devices, mostly - they're all interconnected, and you can put up text on them, or record voice messages and put them up for people to hear, or take video so people can see you - [he has it flipped open and held out where she can see it, for this.] Uh, here, like this. [Aand he's going to pull up and play the post of Conan complaining about the heist as an example.]

[identity profile] last-dracula.livejournal.com 2010-11-13 09:46 am (UTC)(link)
[It was amazing, how many things people took for granted.] Things don't have to be broadcast to everyone either - here, I got video of the fireworks he was complaining about there. [And after a couple button presses, sure enough, there's Kid's fireworks display over the Louvre.]

[identity profile] last-dracula.livejournal.com 2010-11-13 09:50 am (UTC)(link)
It looks that way - everyone else seems to have one, and I couldn't think of another reason for me to find one with this one it. [He taps the eclipse emblem.]

[identity profile] last-dracula.livejournal.com 2010-11-13 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
[And then, there is a derp moment.] Do you want me to tag along or hang around or something? I mean, I'm more familiar with a lot of this stuff, although these things can call up a map, so... [Awkward moment of fail is awkward.]

[identity profile] last-dracula.livejournal.com 2010-11-13 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
[...You are the first person that's met him in human form besides to some extent Sebastian that was not family, Mina and family, or "directly involved with the mess" that's been relatively decent to him. This is unusual.] Alright - I uh, don't know where you came from but I'll follow.

[identity profile] last-dracula.livejournal.com 2010-11-13 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
Uh- right. [He's going to try to keep to that, although it'll be a little awkward - trying to stay mostly in front of her and predict which way she's going.] Thanks for the rain-thing. [He's cautiously shaking out the umbrella and closing it for now.]
