Page Six: [In Person/Text]

[Anyone who wanders in the kitchen will find Light sitting at the table using his newly honed water bending abilities to manipulate hot water from the kettle into a mug in which he has added a few fragrant loose leaf green tea leaves. As the molecules move in synchronized unison, and carefully fill up the cup, the corners of his lips twitch upwards in smug satisfaction for a short moment.

The smile disappears as a rumbling crash seemingly shakes the entire Manor. Silverware rattles and plates threaten to fall off the table. The tea cupped in his hands however, remains safe, not even a single droplet spills onto the floor; Light's power holds it steady. He takes a careful sip of the hot liquid, as he muses. The rest of the world seemed as though it would end at any moment. Light never believed in nonsense like the end of days, or Armageddon, but what was happening outside wasn't so far off from that. He switches on his Blackberry and sends out a text message.]

Does anyone have any idea of what is going on?

I'm sorry that I don't have knowledge in that field but you're right. Has anyone come forward to talk about it?

[Text] Yeah, but that's the fun. XD

Ah....I'm not really familiar with that but it's worth a shot...

Come to think of it, how can we use our powers properly if we're not sure what to use them for? It's like we're given a full plate of nachos and we're only allowed the chips on the edges. I know it sounds weird but I don't think we're properly informed to handle this sort of thing.

I'm Officer Tom Hanson. Nice to meet...er...type thing meet you....and you know what, you said something that really made me think just now that maybe the Author has a certain something in mind that we just don't understand yet. Maybe it's a lesson. But that's only speculation without the burden of proof.

Sorry about the nacho analogy. It's either that I talk about the chili dog and I don't like those very much.

Hm...I'm still trying to figure out where I fit in all of this other than just being a cop. I've seen a wide number of people here and it's kinda got me to thinking that we're here for the chaos factor. I don't like that idea at all so there's got to be something else. There's a lot of detectives here and some just don't seem to cut the mustard, if you catch what I'm saying.

[Tom's definitely not liking the idea that he's here with a bunch of teenagers that are trying to play detective and in his opinion a rather poor job at it too.]

If we get Scooby-Doo here, then I know I've cracked...or otherwise wish I did.

[Upon reading the text, Tom is both laughing and humbled by Light's words. Still, something could have gone very wrong and that would have been a situation that Tom wasn't about to contend with a second time....death made him more careful.]

Thanks. I've been watching him for a while now and to be honest, to say that I wasn't scared is an outright lie. I'm the only badged cop here. There's another but I hadn't seen him yet.

It definitely does. I'm glad I had help that time. I'm hoping now that there's a chance that we'll have some deputized citizens soon that can make arrests and possibly help with other matters for the whole of this place. I'm sure it'll get bigger before it gets any smaller.

Oh hey, by the way while I'm thinking about it, I should ask how everyone is. At least make myself a little more public.

[He considered what Light "said" and paused before responding.]

You're right.

[The last thing he needed was to be too open and people poking him for personal information. His job was one thing. His private life is a different matter entirely.]

[identity profile] junior-cop.livejournal.com 2011-01-15 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah.

[Another pause as he thinks about the powers and how chaotic it was for those not used to having them which included himself in that equation.]

You have a valid point. All it takes is for one idiot to make a move to hurt someone else with that power and cause some unnecessary damage or worse. I'll keep my eyes open for that kind of activity instead.

Well, that's very true too. I can't say that I have any basis of comparison since I've never had this sort of thing happen before but it's interesting to say the least. It's all about control and how many that don't have it is pretty indicative to their discipline. I hope that didn't sound too condescending.

[Text] It's cool. I've had that happnen before too.

I guess Spidey put it best. "With great power comes great responsibility." It's a good rule to live by and he's right.

Yeah, it's something my partner always seemed to pick on about me. It's geeky. I know.

[Tom's embarrassment was a bit on the lighthearted side.]

You're right about that. Question. Why are these phones so advanced with keyboards and stuff? They remind me of stuff out of Star Trek. Can they take vitals too?
