48th Blast || Mello || [In Person]
[Mello is standing outside of L's door...no, what once was L's door. The door is blank, and Mello looks as if someone has just died]
[In Person]
It seems that the one that once resided in that room wasn't the only one that left. There were others too and he felt it. He wasn't about to poke and pry. It was time to carry on and this time, he did so quietly.]

But this time, no orders were necessary.
Matt sunk his hands deep into the pockets of his jeans as he walked the hallway. Mello hadn't come back to the room, but he knew exactly where he was at...and why.
He pauses just a couple of feet away, leaning his shoulder against the wall and tilting his head at the blonde. Silent but solid. There.]

He's going back to die. There's nothing else left for him.
[Mello touches the door with gloved fingers]

We don't know that. He came here. He could go to other places.

[Mello pounds against the door, growling in anger. He sounds almost as if he's in pain. He slams against the door again and again until it seems that either Mello will break the door or the other way around. In time with each powerful hit Mello hisses the words "son of a bitch" over and over again. Then he falls back, breathing heavily as if he'd just run miles. Anger and sorrow intermingle and twist his face. Mello is suddenly reminded of mortality, of reality, of the fate that not only L will meet but Matt and he will too. The pain of reality, their home reality, as well as losing L were settling on him, crushing him. L had become his friend as well as his mentor and now he was as good as dead. Mello could not save him. Mello failed L once again.]

Breaking the door down won't help. Come on, let's go back to the room.

Could make you some hot chocolate. Or you could read scripture to me.
[...Clearly Matt is willing to do anything for him tonight.]
no subject
Just stay with me.
[He grabbed for Matt's hand, almost instinctively]

Understood.

It's up to us now.
[Keeping the Manor together, keeping the justice system running, there was no L to act as mortar. Only them.]

[Matt reaches a gloved hand up and strokes it down Mello's hair.]
We got this.
Who's tag is it in the log?
Now it was time to save the Manor.]
I guarantee by the end of the week all the punishments will end. I'll get my gun back, but everyone else disarmed by the justice system will get their weapons back too.
[Pause, and something worse]
And their mother-fucking powers. Dammit.
We need to up surveillance on them immediately. If any of them start doing something, anything, out of the ordinary we have to act fast.
mine. just haven't had the time/energy during the week.
[Now Matt actually has to do something. He can't help but smile a little though. He was glad that Mello was motivated, it gave him something other that grieving over L's disappearance.]
I'm on it.
It's okay. Are you feeling better? :<
Yeah, you're gonna have to get off your ass and do something.
[He nods]
Good. We should make note of who we need to watch and what to look for. As far as I can tell there isn't any conspiracy although...
[Although he doesn't like John Dillinger's actions. He might be planning something.]
[He's distracting himself from L's disappearance, but it still hurts. His heart still stings as it beats in his chest, clocking time he knows that he doesn't really have.]
