i found this cell phone next to it. am i dreaming? but everything feels too solid. right? i can't

[ Another pause, this one longer. ]

i mean i don't feel unsafe. maybe it's because things look so familiar. maybe i'm about to wake up! .... right?

[ And after a final, hanging pause, she places the blackberry back on the bed, accidentally pressing its keys in passing: ]

Yeah- sort of- more than likely they've already tried and explained this place through some kind of audio or video feed.

I'm The Doctor, by the way- you'll probably see me around a bit- however, I'm extraordinarily busy at times-most times in fact- but easy to find- usually.

[ Exhale of relief. ]

Oh. That's what you meant! I thought -- I don't know what I thought. That some huge guy was going to barge into my room and tell me stuff. My brother already came by, though, so it's okay. [ Light would get the guy in trouble, anyway. ]

I'm Sayu Yagami. [ Right on cue: ] What's your name?

Your brother? That'll be nice, having a friendly face around, I'm sure.

[ You can probably sense the smile: ]

No, that is my name- 'The Doctor' or just 'Doctor' if you'd prefer. I'll answer to either.

[ Really? No weird spelling, like "Docter" or "Doktor" or "Dockter" or whatever? Would "The" be his fir -- okay, Sayu, stop. ]

Yes- it's a bit odd at a first but people get used to it quickly.

Hello, Doctor? It's Sayu. There's... someone's fainted by the main staircase and he's coughing up blood. [ Small pause. ] Please come! I'm sorry this is so sudden. You're probably sick, too, but... but please call me back if you can, at least. Thank you so much.
