[Saguru has just wandered out of the voice actor panel. It was stupid curiosity, really, and he knew it was a bad idea, but somehow the idea of finding out what the Author THOUGHT he sounded like intrigued him.]

[He's sitting somewhere in an alcove of the foyer with a canned black tea, very clearly grumping.]

Least they could've done was get someone who spoke English...

[Someone is moseying about very casually taking in the sights of the convention in roughly your neck of the woods, Saguru. This someone's name is Jake Marshall. He doesn't seem particularly enthused or bothered by anything; in fact, one might say he has the same calm demeanor as usual. He stops to have a drink of somethin' in his canteen and catches sight of Saguru.]

[There's something familiar about Saguru's face. It takes Jake a moment to place it, but it dawns on him that's he's the man who spoke to him on the communicators. He smirks slightly and approaches, slipping his canteen back into a pocket.]

Well, now, don't you look like a cactus out of the desert. What's the problem, Pardner?

I am having a stupid vanity sulk over the realization that the Author apparently thinks that despite having spent most of my life in England, I - [He makes a very sour face and it honestly takes real effort to force the bad-Engrish] shupeaka Engulrish lrike I am lrueadingu off a cue carudo in kana phonetiksu.

I've also been mistaken for a mediocre Sherlock Holmes cosplayer seventeen times since I arrived, but that I can live with.

How's this mess been treating you?

[Jake doesn't exactly understand all the gripes Saguru's got, but understands the gist of it all. He nods and casually draws his knife, shaving at a few stray hairs.]

Can't say I've had too much trouble. Seen a couple of folks I could have sworn were lawyers I know from back home, but each time it turned out to be nothin' but a costume.

Mmm. I'd guess that anyone "familiar" who wasn't here before and doesn't look horribly disoriented is ... probably just that. I've seen a few costumes of people I knew back home myself - it's still a little surreal, even with guessing that the Author knew of us as "fictional".

That's the worst problem with the Author right there. [He leaned back, lacing his hands behind his head.] Obviously she doesn't interact with us directly; this event has been a bit of a gold mine as far as a theory I'd had - we actually have a chance to see what she knows of us.

It's a little like ...

Where I'm from, Holmes was very much fictional; yet Sherlock Holmes was here, for a while, and just as real as the rest of us - if we start assuming other worlds and other versions of worlds, then it's a very simple leap that what would be "fictional" in one world, is reality in another...

And these fictions - [He gestures out at the con floor and the dealer's booths-] Are what she knows of us and how she thinks of us.

Such a brilliant opportunity to continue their marvelous little game... would very easily detract him from the hordes of rather pungent smelling young girls stuffing owl plushies at his face all day... whatever reason their peculiar little minds felt it necessary to do he did not understand.

He calmly walks up to Saguru, with his usual ever-present smile]

Not presently, no... [He shrugged; he had no reason to act like there was any problem with this for the time being.]

They're quite a peculiar sort wouldn't you think?

[He smiles, and his tone is jovial, but oh the satisfaction he would get from watching all the little wretches who felt so compelled to TOUCH him, and take his picture, and fawn over his eye, would be OH SO REWARDING. But alas, if he slaughtered the entire get-together, no doubt the author would have something up her sleeve especially for him. Oh such internal conflict.]

The fangirls aren't so bad; I've had to deal with them before back home, albeit in a slightly different context. [And oh, is that ever thoroughly the truth.]

Found anything of yours yet? I'm sure it'd be most enlightening to see what the Author knows about you... [And don't think you're not on the list of people where he's trying to find your canon, either.]

Anything of mine? Not at present, though judging by the immense number of young women throwing little plush owls my way, I assume I acquire a pet.

Not that it matters much to me. It is much better to live in the present while you can rather then dwell on the future.

If you try to cover anything too identifying, they should lay off some. Can't guarantee it, though. [At least his fandom was slightly smaller, not that he didn't get his share.]

I'm sure there should be something around; it's just a matter of finding it. [And oh, now his curiosity is piqued.] Although I do have to wonder - is there even any guarantee they'd get the future right?

Ah, no, I'm fine, I just - ran into something a little frustrating.

[He can't help but smile a little at the kid comment.] Fangirls aren't always the brightest bunch - though I wonder if they'd be more annoying if they recognized you.

Japanese never translates to English well unless the person is fluent in it.

[Being the charming creeper he is..Shiki loops his arm over his shoulder and strategically leads him away from the booth.. as amusing as it was to watch Saguru get pissy about something like this. As wonderful as he looked when he was angry.]
