Conan Edogawa - Case 030 - [In Person]

[Conan is angrily playing soccer by a wall he can kick the ball into when he so feels the need. He's not a happy camper and this happens to be his way of blowing off steam.

Every time the soccer ball comes back he kicks it right back at the wall- he's so wrapped up in blowing off steam he's not really aware of anything going around him right now]

[Which is probably how Hakuba gets right up behind him, and might be there for a few minutes, waiting for Conan to notice him.]

[He grits his teeth and kicks the ball especially hard-this time it gets away and Conan is forced to turn around. He is now aware he has company.]

Good to see that you're better. [Why yes, he is slightly playing it off. Notice you're being pissy? Hmm?]

Yeah, my luck held out, I guess. [He retrieves his soccer ball and resumes kicking it at the wall.]

You're not babysitting me, are you?

No. I'll back you up if you need it, but you've proven you can take care of yourself before.

At least, as long as you're willing to accept help; there's a lot of things no one person can deal with themselves.

[he's now bouncing the soccer ball on his knee] Believe me, I know that.

[he bounces the ball up again and then catches it with his hands] ...What do you mean?

Actually acting and doing something besides moral support and scraping you up off the pavement.

If you can follow instructions I don't have a problem with it.

[And this is where it gets so potentially frustrating.] What happens if you're not there when something happens, or if you're injured and out of commission then?

Last I checked, you are capable of thinking for yourself.

If you're not planning on doing something stupid, sure.

I didn't mean for my path to cross with his-I didn't even know he was here!

I know that much. I feel like a fool - I was barely a block and a half away and hadn't known you were in the area until Kuroba mentioned it after I'd warned him. If I'd turned left instead of right a couple times, I would've been able to warn you.

But that's not what I meant.

There's a difference between bad luck and bad timing, and a planned out action.

You know I'd talked to him maybe twenty minutes at most before you ran into him.

Yeah, and he didn't recognize you as the little brat that destroyed his black hawk-did he?

I tried to walk right past him but he started following me so I ran-of course I wasn't fast enough.

No, but he was disoriented, had his gun out, and was looking for someone to interrogate.

And he recognized me as the international detective and the police chief's son.


That's what it'd looked like; honestly as agitated as he was, and with him having seen you interfering, that was a lot of bad luck and bad timing, in a bad place for it to happen.

I didn't know who he was - I guessed that he was one of them, but didn't act on it, or react to it, not until I was safely across town. Given that I was looking down a gunbarrel for it, I did comment on his profession, but framed it in him being mafia or something less extemporaneous, and in the circumstances - that we'd both been kidnapped by the same culprit.

And after that conversation, I turned my back to him as I walked away.

And you know that I wasn't harmed.
