Mary Winchester | 05 | [In Person]
[Things seemed to be back to normal this week. No weird little animal/monsters, so sinking ship...just the manor. As though one could say the manor itself was normal...perhaps she could make it a little more normal?
She hadn't seen anyone awake yet, so perhaps she could do something for the other inhabitants while she was clinging to a sense of normalcy. Besides, with seeing young ones on her blackberry, she was sure they could do with a real breakfast, especially after being taken from their homes. Most of the adults seemed like they could cook for themselves...not that they weren't welcome, they were just more capable that the smaller inhabitants, particularly as far as making a hot meal went.
Making sure there was no one else in the kitchen, she got the necessary pots and pans, humming softly as she started cooking. An hour later, Mary was visibly happy, a bright smile across her face as she set out general breakfast foods...she may have made a little to much, but it was just too easy to forget she wasn't at home doing this.
Moving to the sink, she started cleaning the dirty pans. She was sure they would eventually clean themselves, but she couldn't just leave dirty dishes.]

Much to his surprise there was someone else in the kitchen. Usually he made and effort to get up kind of early so he wouldn't run into anyone. But now... there was a lady in the kitchen. If he was awake enough to ACTUALLY THINK he would have instantly turned around and high-tailed it back to his room.
However, he was still half-asleep... so he just groggily stood there... half naked... toothbrush in his mouth... just STARING.]
OH LOOK. THE GUY HER BLEW HER KID UP. ...not that she knows >>;;
The staring though...she could feel it boring into the back of her head. Unable to take it any longer, she grabbed a clean plate and set it on the counter beside her. If he was here, he may as well eat while it was still hot. Hell, it wasn't like she could eat all of this by herself. Never turning to see him, she couldn't keep an amused note from her tone.]
Are you going to eat or just stare all day?
FFFT SORRY MAMA YOUR SON WAS BEING A BRATTY BRATTY THING
He adjusts the few sticks of dynamite in the waistband of his pants, so they won't fall as he reaches up for can of ravioli. Yup, cold ravioli out of a can, and coffee. Breakfast of champions.]
LIES! HE'S MADE OF SUNSHINE AND RAINBOWS!
Turning to him, she put a hand on her waist as she leveled a stare at him. There was hardly any health value to the cans...and if she didn't permit her own sons eating such things for breakfast, there was no way she way going to permit someone his age if she could help it.]
If you want that I'll make you some fresh, but heaven help you if you open that can.
LIKE EDWARD CULLEN?!
'The hell do you care what I eat? Food's food.
[That and it was less likely to be poisoned in an unopened can... unless you were his sister....]
NO! HE'S COOLER >O
First of all, watch your language. [She didn't care where he was living, he was still a child as far as she was concerned.] Second of all, you need at least one good meal a day.
Canned ravioli isn't exactly what I'd call a healthy breakfast.
EDWARD CULLEN ON ICE.
[He looks down at his can and shrugs]
It's not goin' to kill me. I'll lived on less.
[Yeah, he's getting that can opener]
...THAT'S ACCEPTABLE.

I didn't think anyone was up at this time.

Grabbing a clean plate, she set it on the table in case he decided he wanted more than what looked to be a cold biscuit.]
I hope you don't object.
no subject
What brings you to be up early anyway?

[It was better than just walking, at least she was being productive. Turning to him, something he said sparked her interest. He didn't look like he could be more than sixteen or seventeen...]
Just how long have you been here?
no subject
I think pretty much close to a year that I've been dealing with the authors shenanigans.

[These poor children...they must have went through so much hell. Leaning back against the sink, she kept her sharp eyes on the boy, a friendly smile on her lips.]

and honestly? he couldn't help be a little jealous of everyone else here at that moment. He'd always held her baking for him at the core of his heart. Sammy had been too young to eat it, so her baking had made him feel that little bit special - he'd been a four-year old kid, he couldn't help it. Now, everyone else gets that experience, and he has to miss out.
but he was the sort of person to squash that selfish side, and just focus oh her happy.
so for now, he was quite content to sit and watch her in silence with his small smile, just bask in the fact it was almost like home the way it should have been.

Smiling, she turned back to what she was doing, wanting to carry on with this charade before the manor decided to mess with them some more.]
Good morning, Dean. [About to offer him something to eat, she faltered. Right...vampire.] Is there anything I can get for you? I know you can't eat any of this, but...perhaps something in the fridge?
[Truth be told, she didn't look at all the food in the kitchen, but it seemed to have the ingredients for most dishes. For all she knew, he had a packet of blood hidden around here somewhere. Or so she hoped. She tried not to think about how he'd been feeding, part of her not wanting to know the answer.]

I heard humming, and just thought I'd come see what you were doing. [Completely not mentioning the fact that he'd heard it from the top of the house. He was much too content with this almost normal to ruin it by mentioning that.]
no subject
I'm glad you did. I've got to admit, it's lonely down here in the mornings. [At least during the afternoon and evening, there were a few people coming in and out of the room...most of them eating things that made her want to force them into a chair and make them a proper meal. That was part of the reason she got up early. The kids (even the ones older than herself) deserved at least one proper meal.]
no subject
Well, you could have called. [And now he knows? you will have someone in the kitchen in the mornings. Always.]
no subject
[After all the time it's been, she'd just assumed he had a different morning routine. The last thing she wanted to do was bother or guilt him into doing something that he didn't really want to. He wasn't a kid anymore, for all she knew, he'd adopted something more interesting.]
I know it must be boring down here for you.

Ssshhh I'm not laate...>>...<<....
You made all this?
Nevar! :D
Yes. I've never cooked for a household of this volume though...but if I didn't make enough, I can always make something fresh for any stragglers.
\o/
It's commendable to have enough patience to do so - I know not everyone here will be as thankful to you as they should
no subject
[Setting the plate to the side, she turned the fire off on the stove. If things went well enough, she'd try to cook for the manor more than this once.]
I'm just glad that there's something that I can do here. Half the time, I don't know what to do with myself...my kids don't need me as much as they once did, and even some of the children here are self reliant.
no subject
I know that feeling all too well. And it seems whenever I get to use my skills, the person involved usually ends up disliking me more than if I'd left them
no subject
Setting the cup in front of him, she pulls out a chair for herself.]
If that's the case, then they shouldn't ask for help.
