[He pulls his hands back from the injury, revealing the black hardened scab over the remains of his injury. He looked down at his trembling hands in shock]

I-I-I was... I died... I really died...

[He couldn't quite answer her question yet, he had barely come to terms with what happened to him. He was still reeling from the shock.]

Yeah...I saw your body...

[And the person that let him die...but he didn't need to hear that right now. She'd just have to make sure that it never happened again.]

I'm sorry.

M-my body?

[He looked down at his blood covered hand, and then to his stomach, the memories coming back in flashes. He was being held... and before that he was running... and there was that thing... that thing! He was trying to drive it off. His eyes widen and he turns to grab Temari's shoulders, obvious worry plastered on his face]

Y-you're okay? Did Ryuutaro make it out too? D-did you see my boss?

[Temari looked okay... she felt okay, now for the other two. He needed to know if the three most important people to him in the manor were okay.]

[Jerking as he grabbed her, she didn't back away from him; she just stared in surprise. Well hello, she missed him too.

She couldn't stop herself from sneering as she heard Ryuutaro's name though. He'd let her friend die...he should have tried trying to save him. She didn't know about this boss of his, she wasn't even aware he'd arrived...that just went to show you how much Gokudera shared with her since he'd gotten closer to Ryuutaro. (Not that she knew just how close they'd gotten)]

Ryuutaro's fine. I haven't seen your boss though.

[And he seemed to relax a bit... Temari was okay, Ryuutaro was okay... his boss was strong. He would be alright... he just needed to go over this whole incident with him. He broke his promise after all.]

Boss is okay... he's always okay...

[He mutters this almost as an assurance to himself... then looks back up to Temari... she didn't answer how she had fared. Obviously she ended up better off than he did but still...]

You made it through okay too though... right? I-I'm sorry I-I tried to call you and get us together... b-but th-that thing got me... and I had to protect Ryuutaro, and I... I...

[He bit his lip. He died. He didn't want to say that out loud again though]

I'm fine.

[Just like he would have been if he'd been with her instead. She didn't think she could ever forgive the other boy for any of this, but she'd do her best in front of Gokudera.]

Don't worry about me, it takes more than some statues come to life to get the better of me.

[They came close to getting her a few times, but she seemed to be a better escape artist than they gave her credit for.]

What about you? I've fought you before, you're stronger than to let those bastards get a hold of you like this.

.... we were running from one of them, but the lights flickered. I got Ryuutaro out of the way...

[His hand goes up to the blood clot on his shoulder]

but it grabbed me, I think it broke something... it just hurt real bad... so I told Ryuutaro to run... I took out some dynamite and closed my eyes just before it went off. I got away, and Ryuutaro and got some distance but then got dizzy... and looked down.... and my stomach was.... my stomach was...

[The whole situation made her sick. Shaking her head, she fought to keep her voice steady. He needed to worry more about himself...if he was gone...what would she do then? It wasn't like there were many people in this god forsaken place that she could stand.]

You shouldn't worry about this Ryuutaro...let him worry about himself and just get yourself to safety. Okay? ...Just...just try to keep yourself alive.

I-I can't... he's...

[He bit his lip... he had only told one other person that he was dating another boy, but she was an alien and didn't exactly understand what it meant. But out of everyone he knew, if there was anyone he could trust to accept him for being the way he was, he could trust Temari. She had been willing to make use of him even after he lost his leg. He could trust her... he always did]

he's my boyfriend. I promised I would keep him safe...

[At least he kept that promise...]

[Do you feel the cold breeze that just picked up Dera? If she didn't hate Ryutaaro for letting you die, she certainly couldn't stand him now. When people got in relationships...they left. They always left.

She could feel a little of Gaara coming out in her, the desire to keep Gokudera all to herself and not share him with anyone. He was hers...her friend, she wouldn't let anyone take him away from her. Especially not someone that couldn't protect him.

Tightening her grip, she urged him forward silently. She'd keep him in her room, Ryuutaro would never know he was back. She'd take care of him...]

You shouldn't worry. Come on...I'll get you something to eat and I'll tell your friend that you're back. [So wouldn't.]

[Gokudera stumbled in the direction she pulled him, his body still stiff and sore. He was fine letting her guide him, but even if he wasn't- he hardly had the strength to do otherwise.]

'kay... promise to tell Ryuutaro first though... I... I gotta make sure he's okay... I don't wanna fail him again...

[His grip tightens on Temari slightly, using her closeness for support. He was glad to have her here... and that she had reacted so well. Tali and his mother had accepted him for what he was, and now Temari. He just had to tell his boss now, but it would be alright. Maybe this whole thing wasn't as a big of a deal as he thought... maybe it really didn't matter and people didn't care. It was such a relief. Especially after everything he was going through...]

[Or she could just send along her consolations. 'Dera would never have to see him again...she could do this. Yes...she took care of Kankuro, she could take care of 'Dera.

Pushing Gokudera to her room, she set him in a chair.]

Stay here. [Forever] Are you feeling okay?

[He looked down at all the caked on blood and everything... no, he did not feel okay. He was scared, his body felt heavy and tired, he was stiff and achy... everything was off... and was just so afraid...]

My stomach hurts... but... I guess that's it...

[His injuries were causing him no pain anymore. He was alive... out of sorts... but alive...]

[Okay. His stomach hurt. that meant that as soon as she was satisfied he wouldn't vanish, she'd make Ryuutaro's stomach hurt. No one let her friend get hurt and got away with it.]

It will pass.

Do you want a cool rag for it? Or is it more that you want something to drink and eat?

I'm not hungry... it's just...

[Nerves. Whenever something stressed him out, his stomach was always the first thing to act up.]

My stomach acts up a lot on it's own... I'll be okay...

[But more importantly...]

Y-you said you were gonna let Ryuutaro know I'm alright, right?

[She said she would, every moment she spent fussing over him and his weakness, Ryuutaro still thought he was dead... and was hurting...]

[Okay, so he was fine. That was good...Whatever it was would fix itself and he'd be back to normal in no time.

About to say something comforting, her jaw tightened at his words. Again with Ryuutaro. What would it take to make him forget about that weakling?

Straightening up, she turned to the door before she did something that she would regret later.]

I'll take care of that now then. Don't move.

[but she wouldn't be talking to Ryuutaro. No. She'd walk the halls for a bit. That was it. Gokudera didn't need to get anymore attached to him than he was.]

[Gokudera bit his lip and nodded. He was afraid to be alone... but he had to be strong. He needed to make sure Ryuutaro's pain was eased knowing he was alive again. That was what was important.]

'K-kay... I'll stay here... hurry okay?

[He didn't want to be alone for long...]

[After beating a wall a fair distance from her room, she made her way back. She didn't know what she'd say, but...she was sure that something would come to her.

Pushing her door open, she sauntered up to her bed and kicked her shoes off.]

Okay, he's been told.

[She really had his best intentions at heart...really. she had an odd way of showing her love.]

[Gokudera looked up at her when she came in, expecting to see Ryuutaro in tow, or at least some explanation as to what he said. He waited a moment and not seeing either, he took matters into his own hands]

A-a-and where is he? I-is he comin'? What d-did he say?

[Oh Gods...This was her chance. She could break them up for good, she could save Gokudera. She just had to do this right and be careful to not mess this up.

Shaking her head, she kept her face blank.]

He just said 'okay'. I don't think he's coming though, he honestly didn't seem too interested when I told him.

W-what? n-no... th-that can't be right... h-he always comes back... he always...

[Ryuutaro... wasn't coming. He wasn't going to come anymore.]

I-it's because I-I broke my promise... I broke my promise a-a-and now... a-and now...

[And Hayato dropped to knees and let out a cry as what little strength he had in his body just seemed to give out. The cry soon became an outright scream as he tried to lessen the internal agony that had suddenly set in his chest. It hurt. Ryuutaro had thrown him away, and after everything that they had been through. If Ryuutaro had thrown him away like that, than what hope could he ever have of remaining in the Vongola? He was useless to Tsuna as his right hand man, and now he had broken his promise and gotten killed. He was just so worthless.

He lets out another scream as he brings his hands to clutch his head, doing everything in his power from breaking entirely. Then the scream finally just breaks out into sobs and his body just goes completely limb on the floor.

Was he really so easy to throw away?]

[She felt bad about what she'd done. Particularly as she saw how broken up he was about it. She couldn't help it though, it was for his own good...he'd realize in time that Ryuutaro was no good for him.

Moving to the floor beside him, she draped herself over him, careful to not press on his stomach. Running her hands through his hair, she nuzzled his shoulder carefully.]

Shh...It's okay. You can stay here with me, I won't let anyone hurt you ever again.

You're my friend, right? I'll keep you safe.

[He wouldn't die again, not while she was with him. She'd make sure that he never got hurt again. She'd take care of him.]

[And he instantly just snapped up from his position on the ground, throwing Temari off him]

AND HOW LONG UNTIL YOU THROW ME AWAY TOO!? I LOVE HIM TEMARI! I love him and he still... he still... I'm worthless... I'm just so worthless...

[And he collapsed onto the floor again, the sobs that shook his frame died down, leaving him just listlessly laying there. Occasionally he would take a few sharp inhales as he recovered from hyperventilating, while the tears still streamed silently down his face.

It had been a long time since he had to deal with this sort of heartbreak. Not since he came to the realization his father was never going to come for him after he ran away. He just didn't want to feel it anymore. It hurt too much. He just didn't want to feel anything anymore.

Why had he ever bothered trying to make friends? They always leave, or abandon you, or use you. He hated people. If he were still on the streets he wouldn't be hurting like this. Sure it was lonely... but it never hurt quite like this did...]

[Not expecting the suddenly violent reaction, Temari just stared at him from where she landed a few feet away. Had she been wrong? Would...would he even be able to survive like this? Curling into a smallish ball, she didn't offer him a response. She didn't want to let him go, she didn't...want to let him go back to him.

Tears streamed silently down her face as she let her bangs cover her face.]

Why...

Why do you love him?

He let you die. He doesn't deserve you, you deserve so much better than him.

[She couldn't understand. Gokudera was a fighter, Ryuutaro...he was weak. They weren't compatible.]

[He doesn't respond for about a minute, he had almost completely shut himself down mentally to try and numb the pain]

... he's strong... in all the ways I'm not... I'm not a strong person... I'm weak... a-and no m-matter how bad I messed up... or how scared I got and pushed him away... he still came for me... a-and he still w-wanted me back...

[He sniffs a bit]

N-no one e-e-ever wanted me back before... m-my own family didn't...

[And his voice starts to turn into a little wine and the crying seems to start back up again]

B-but n-now he... he... he threw me away too...
