[Gokudera didn't usually concern himself with new arrivals... but something about this one struck him... it just sounded like a normal kid. That hit home a bit. So far everyone he had met thus far either deserved it, or were total weirdos.... of course if he had any inkling that 'Light' was actually the so called 'Bowlhead' Hayato had taken a dislike to, his opinion may have been swayed quite a bit.]

It's tough to explain exactly what's going on like this. It's hard to believe anyway but... in person would be easier.

[He pauses for a moment, thinking about some of the more aggressive characters around the manor]

[Gokudera pauses again... he couldn't believe he was going to ask this... GOD being civil hurt so bad]

Are you hungry or anything? the explanation could take a while....

[It's almost touching really, that Gokudera cares so much about the welfare of a "kid." Except there's a problem. It's Gokudera. Light doesn't want who he strongly suspects is his sister going anywhere near the caustic brat.

True, Light's respect for him had gone up very slightly after he heard what he had done for Misa, but it's dwarfed by the fact that it's his damn fault for talking in the first place that Misa now has a deranged stalker on her hands, which meant now Light had to deal with B's lunacy as well. As far as Light is concerned, Gokudera is absolutely nothing but trouble.]

I'm well aware. You'll forgive me when I say you don't inspire a great deal of confidence.

[Oh this mother fucking sunnuva bitch! Where did this fuckhead get off saying shit like that?! Yeah sure, Gokudera was WELL AWARE he wasn't exactly well liked, but he wasn't going to do anything to a kid. Especially when it came to food. That was one thing life had taught him]

If the kid's hungry, I'm going to bring her some damn food. I'm not going to try and be anyone's role model or do something reckless. It's food.

[There's little point in hiding it. If this is Sayu, then one way or another, Gokudera will find out they are related. Sure, it gave the kid a button he could press to annoy Light if he were that childishly inclined, but as Light reminds himself, if there's one thing that is more important than any sort of stupid hatred, it's family.]

[Ah well that explains it. Gokudera can't help but be a bit jealous, his older sibling was a source of great torment when he was a kid... heck she STILL was. But the confession from whoever this guy was (since Bowlhead wasn't on the contact list) was enough to calm him down]

Listen, I'm just in the kitchen. Making a sandwich. I'm not going to do anything crazy, just bring her some food. Give her something to do until you can find her, or something. Just to keep her in her room. I wouldn't hurt a defenseless little kid.

[Unless it was Lambo... but that brat was HARDLY defenseless]

[He sighs. Light has no reason whatsoever to trust Gokudera. For godsake, the damn brat threw dynamite at Light while he was a child; he didn't need a near perfect memory to recall that particular incident.]

[Gokudera can't see it, but Light is raising an eyebrow quizzically. He highly doubts Gokudera has a soft spot for kids, which leads him to the conclusion that Dera has an ulterior motive for doing this. Everything about this sudden change in attitude is unnatural, and that, more than anything else, is what's annoying Light at the moment. But seriously, what is this? Love at first text? Not even Misa had been that pathetic. He's more amused than anything else now.]

[The teen growls on the other end of the black berry. What the fuck is this? The Spanish fucking Inquisition?!]

I'm in the kitchen making a damn sandwich, wouldn't kill me to make two, to keep the damn kid in her damn room, until someone else can come along and deal with it. Frigging happy now?

Luckily for Gokudera, Sayu's too nervous to notice her brother's basically told him to go fuck himself! And whoever this is doesn't sound dangerous, so... she'll compromise. ]

[ A small pause. ]

Ah! Right. I'm probably coming across as some kind of creeper. Give me one sec.

[Gokudera switches the phone to video, revealing himself as a normal looking 14 year old. Hopefully she wasn't so young that 14 looked old]

Sorry, I totally did think you were a creeper. My bad! I'm Sayu Yagami. I think you might know my brother? He sent you something but I haven't figured out how to access it yet. Whatever.

I guess I did kind of come across as being kind of weird though. I guess texting people offering them food is just one step up from telling kids there's "candy in the van". Ah, so are you sure you're okay with food? I'm in the kitchen now.

[He lifts up a half-made sandwich he had begun to make for himself]

As for the freaks around here well... it kind of hard to explain without knowing the whole story but... well there are a lot of people... and... other things... all stuck together in a close proximity.... and not everyone has a golden moral compass either.

Well, excuse me for being scared! Anybody normal would act like they were seven if they woke up somewhere like this all of a sudden.

[ Pouting aside, her eyes get a little rounder when she sees the sandwich. ]

[ She swings her feet as they talk, perched on the edge of the bed. ]

Are those pastas?

Mannacotti is like.. um lasagna, only with pasta shells. Connoli is a little pastry. My mother used to bring them to me when I was a kid...

[He looks off for a moment, thinking about his mother, but quickly shakes his head back to it's senses. He looks at the ramen and kind of chuckles]

Hey, I know it sucks, but it's probably the best food I can cook.

[Hayato thinks about her request... well she should probably get to know the manor... but it wasn't safe alone...]

Well, I got a few minutes before the water boils... I could come up and get you?

Yeah, sure! [ Light won't mind if she's with someone, right? Totally. Except -- ] Um, were there... extra clothes in your room when you got here? [ A blush creeps up her cheeks and she tries to brush it off with a little laugh. ] I'm still wearing pajamas. It feels kind of weird to go outside wearing them.

[ Hayato chuckles]

Yeah should be in your closet or dresser or whatever you have in your room. Check, if it's not I can grab you something from my room until you can find some girl clothes. I'm in the hallways now. You said room 48 right? That's only a few doors down from my room.
